2022 Ninja 650 LAMS Review - 6 Months In
Ойын-сауық
Nearing 6 months of owning the Kawasaki Ninja 650L, I figured it's time to give a more in depth review on my thoughts. Is this the best beginner bike to learn on?

Sold me on it, and you're very right about not getting stuck on specifications - if you appreciate the aesthetics you'll enjoy it regardless

Awesome! I know you'll have a great time on it, I still love every second that I'm on mine. Safe riding!
Very well presented! I can't believe how smooth the bike looks through the corners.. Your skills are seriously growing quick!

Thanks so much mate, having fun on nice rides with mates sure pushes me to get better.
I just got the 2022 Ninja 650L a few months ago, and i'm really enjoying it. I did ride a couple of friends Ninja's when I was young so even though I browsed through quite a few LAMS bikes, I just kept coming back to the Ninja and I love it...its such a comfortable bike to learn on.

You absolutely won't regret it. It's an absolute gentle giant. Safe riding!
Was sick of hearing every review go on about statistics I dont understand or care about, was nice to hear a down to earth approach thats easy to understand and relate to. Appreciate your work mate

I'm always stoked to get messages like these, so glad you're able to just get out and enjoy it for what it is. Ride safe!
Enjoyable watching, I have done (as a daily commuter up until 2019) 54,000km on my 2012 model. Did my 1st track day on it in 2018, with Pirelli gt angles, hard as rocks! But like you said, it still was good in the handling department. Half a dozen track days later, I purchased a 94 honda 400 track bike and joined a club and raced it. The Ninja served me well with building my riding skill, as did racing. There's a new chapter on it's way for my ninja. An after market rear shock, set up for your weight will step the bike up an other level. As will a good set of sintered brake pads. I fitted up some rear sets, sick of grinding the foot pegs away on the lean angle. Happy travels.

Wow, that's a real testament to how right Kawasaki get things. I'm guessing yours was/is very much a proper unrestricted 650 and not the L version like mine. I feel like I'm a long way to grinding away at the pegs but I push myself a little more each time I go out. Very much looking forward to a track day at some stage in the near future! Thanks so much for the support 😊

@@9LivesRides it is LAMS, abs or was. LAMS and abs are dispensed with as of a few months ago. I just need to get it reassembled.
I love the video! I was confused by the way you started off obsessing over details and over-analyzing things, thinking a spreadsheet of specs to come out but then chose this bike for looks? LOL, I agree in that respect, the 650 is beautiful but the other details are where anyone else would get into the weeds. I'm choosing the same bike. Well done!

Haha, good choice! You've definitely come to the wrong place if you want straight out facts but I hope you enjoy the bike all the same. Safe riding!
Great video content and well produced! Definitely taking in all the advice as I toss up whether to get a ninja 650l as my second bike or the cbr650r...

@9 Lives Rides I'm on a ninja 400 as my first bike at the moment and have been for just over a year. As I'm on restrictions for another 2 years looking for something to take on open roads, bends and something with a bit more underneath

@@bigshaz33 I guess it's going to come do whether you want to stay on a Sports tourer or go more aggressive with a straight up sports bike. I think you'd be happy with either, it'll come down to comfort for the type of riding you want to do. Let us know!

@9 Lives Rides Thought I had my decision made on the inline 4 CBR650R but after taking the Ninja 650 for a test ride and the service I received - couldn't fault it.
Is it powerful enough tho? Like are you getting slowly bored and want like a 1000? And does it have enough power to pretty much out run most cars? Or is general traffic somewhat keeping up?

Fair questions! I'll address these in 2 ways. Number 1 is that I'm in Australia, and this is a restricted learner bike. For our learner period and first 3 years we literally can't legally ride a bike larger than 650cc, or with a large power to weight ratio. Like it or not this is pretty much close to as good as we get until the restriction period is over. Number 2 - Yep, it easily outruns most cars. It'll easily hit 100kmh/62mph in second gear and gets there pretty darn quick. Personally, I think I'll be more than happy with it for the time being, but I'll definitely upgrade after the 3 years. As a learner or someone that's happier to take it a little easier, then I think it's a great bike and it's super forgiving. As a more experienced rider I'd look elsewhere. Hope this helps!

Hello!
Can the bike be unrestricted? like the Lams stuff
@9LivesRides

Yep it can, you need to remove the throttle restrictor and get a retune.

I don't think you can go wrong with the 400. It's a solid bike, handles great and it's quick enough to get away from traffic if you're at the front of the pack. Congratulations on getting your L's, safe riding!
