Had a 2015 mdx advanced and currently a 2017 tech. Every time I try the competition I come back to the MDX. My take is it does everything VERY well but nothing perfectly. I don't need perfection, just something that works out very well and on budget. Type S is probably next for me.

The removable middle first debuted in the 2008-2013 Highlander. Slid into a spot underneath the front center console. Definitely was a awesome feature, glad to see Acura bring this feature back from the graveyard.

Update! After driving every luxury SUV. I bought the 2022 MDX. Super smooth, super silent, super comfortable and the boxes are X for sure. Very smooth 10 speed. Pick it up Monday at 11:00 A.M. Work OK when new... when it was well past 100K miles, the active motor mounts failed and NVH became pretty bad. I installed an aftermarket VCM defeat device. Never had oil consumption problems, even at 200K miles. Gen 2 came a few yeas later,,, 6/4/3 cyl. capable. This is the system that has oil consumption problems, I have heard. No personal experiance with it. Gen 3 launched on MY '13 Accord (mine is now @ 108K) and Acura RDX (I also have one of these... MY '16 @ 45K) Same VCM system is on 3.5 V6 w/ direct injection as found in current MDX and Pilot starting MY'16 (we have a '17 @ 50K). That said, If it's anything like my 2016 TLX, I'll almost never use the touchscreen because the wheel controls are where it's at. Plus the only things I do use on the touchscreen of my TLX are the seat heaters/environmental controls and that's all in physical buttons below the screen on this MDX. So, maybe it's not a huge deal?

No brainer, MDX is my picked above all
I’ll be interested to see how folks like the infotainment system. The MDX is an awesome car from many standpoints. I had a 2005 and 2015. Loved the powertrain, seats, 3rd Row, handling, and size. I loved the SH-AWD, but it’s a bit overrated since most people aren’t going to be throwing this thing through cornes and htting the gas while hitting curvy roads (SHAWD doesn’t engage if the gas isn’t engaged!). BUT, my issues with: Suspension would bottom out on not so broken pavement AND for the 2015 and beyond, the reason I will never buy another Acura...the infotainment system. They look great and work fine when you test drive and have it for a short time. HOWEVER, when living with one, it’s death by 1,000 papercuts...there is no one single issue, but an accumulation of head scratching, frustrating things found throughout Honda/Acura no matter how hard they try...I’m not betting this one will not fix that. Some tell tale signs: why did they make the Mode button THE largest button on the dash? How often do you need that? And the touchpad...hello, Lexus...can you inform Acura that touchpads are terrible? Overall, I liked my X5 better, and LOVED my 2017 Q7 better than both in every way. But, if price is a factor, the Acura isn’t a bad deal if you can deal with the infotainment....
Alex, Can you do a review of this vs the CX-9? I am on the fence, I like both cars. Wondering if I should wait and get this or get the Cx-9, the only issue about the mazda is that it looks like other Mazdas
Would the massage feature propel the front seat score to 10/10?
What is an Infiniti Q7...think you merged Audi and Infiniti in your thoughts there. Lol. But as always great and fair review ...always appreciate and have great new year!
It's been well over a dozen years since I could call an Acura, stunningly handsome.

I have wasted a bucket load on so called German reliability. I had a 3 year old CLS 320CDI with 32,000 on the clock. I changed front shocks, and some suspension bushes. I had an intermittent engine warning light. The centre console had an annoying and constant creak, which I eventually managed to reduce to a bearable level with the assistance of folded card and a few strategically placed match sticks. All of which occurred before reaching 50,000 miles. I believe that the car was a £50,000 + purchase from new. I have had similar issues with the other highly rated and highly recommended marques that are so adored by the automotive journalists. I bought a Mazda 6 Tourer, fully loaded and good spec. I admit that I needed to change it for work purposes, but I was determined not to buy an estate from the aforementioned marques. I was really impressed by every aspect, and now I am currently looking towards a Genesis saloon. There doesn’t seem to be many available, but I am sure I will find a low mileage that is still under warranty. I have friends who have bought Lexus and have never looked back. A 1-2 second difference in 0-60 times is irrelevant in regards to the daily commute. I am interested in comfort and overall reliability...........
