    Hello, Great review. I have a Yellow, lower black, brown leather Auto 3.5 Supercharged V6, this is my 3rd Lotus, last two in the mid 80's. This is the best finished and easiest to get in & out of. Cheers, Doug, Perth, Western Australia

    My amazing V6 Auto Yellow Emira with Brown leather, black wheels, Sport mode sets the tuning and response to a raised hightened level and engine agility but toggle the switch with two more clicks and in Track your Emira bubbles growls loudly and pounces to your every command. I have ordered Milltek Sports exhaust and sometime next year will get Super Charger upgraded to 1900 model from current 1740 model, to increase power to 460-5]0 hp, safely! Looked into this a few weeks ago. But Tour Suspension is currently more than adequate, but may chane tyres. My Auto with paadles is smooth and very quick. LoveIt, Cheers Doug, Perth, Western Australia.

    How's the yellow? I have it as my initial spec although I originally wanted blue. Most people I've asked an opinion tell me to go yellow, but none of those people have a yellow car themselves. I'm not into the dull colours, it's a special looking car, and hence should be in a special colour. But not sure the yellow is not a bit much - would look awesome in the sunshine of Perth Australia, perhaps not so cool in the pi$$ing down rain in the north of England... 😂

    @@Kinsmandxb I’ve gone V6 manual - Seneca Blue w Black Pack and Black Alcantara, yellow stitching, silver brake callipers and Tour suspension. Finding it some of the most fun I’ve ever had on the road and like you said, people’s reactions are great - such a buzz around the car. What spec would you go for?

    Sounds like an awesome spec! Well done John. From my side, if I were to daily a car like this, I might opt for the dual clutch auto, which means the 2.0L Turbo. Hethel yellow. Touring. Black pack. As a second car, definitely the V6 manual. So much fun!

    Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman? James Bond had two Esprits before that - the one that famously turned into a submarine, and the one that, er, didn't. For those of us growing up in the 80s, these were far cooler than Connery's old-fashioned Aston. Sharon Stone's character also had one in Basic Instinct.

    Great vid. I tested the V6 as well. Now waiting for the i4 to arrive so I can compare the two. I would normally go for the manual transmission all day long, but I want to see what the dual clutch is like before pulling the trigger. The fact that taxes on the V6 are a lot higher then on the i4 here in Belgium makes the business case for the manual transmission a lot harder.

    Lotus Elise…”harsh on the eyes”….have to say that I’ve never heard this before. I know it’s all subjective, but I’ve still never heard anyone say an Elise is harsh. I must be a fanboy, cuz I also would never like to give up my manual steering. It’s another reason I’m still not pulling the trigger on an Emira

    Why Emira doesn’t come with a V8 chasing big numbers… because as Jeremy Clarkson says, ‘you don’t need a sledgehammer to move a soufflé’. Adding extra more weight with a bigger engine won’t give you better handling, after all Lotus is for the Drivers

  • @stephenhester7354
    @stephenhester7354 Жыл бұрын

    The Emira is an Evora with cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior. The drivetrain in the Emira is essentially unchanged from the Evora 400. Many Evoras sold with automatic transmissions, and Lotus recognized it needed a better auto option, hence the dual clutch. There was never a v8 in the cards once you realize it’s an Evora chassis. The characteristics of the steering and short gearing you didn’t prefer are by design. What did you think about the feel and function of the gearbox?

  • @Kinsmandxb

    @Kinsmandxb

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Stephen. Appreciate your thoughts and the valid points you raised. Whilst the gearbox is certainly functional and feels great in spirited driving, I feel that perhaps the touring variant (for drivers who might not visit the track much) could benefit from some "softening up". Not so much the gear changes but more the clutch bite. Just my subjective thoughts. Not sure if you and/or others might agree?

  • @gbarton800

    The gearbox is not the highlight of the driving experience but it’s very good and doesn’t detract from it either.

     @Kinsmandxb iirc a lot of other reviewers have mentioned there isn't lane keep assist on a hydraulic rack. It maybe possible on the i4 version because it's an electrohydraulic one (I don't know enough), but if you find out more just post a short on it and let me know!

    You're contradicting yourself. I hate sitting too high in a car of sporting intent. It's a great looking car, but in this day and age, something iconic is much closer to perfection. A 911 per say? A C8 Z06, Boxter, or Cayman? Toyotas symbiotic Supra is even quicker than this and probably faster on track?

  • @Kinsmandxb

    @Kinsmandxb

    This car is still a beach buggy on roids. Many styling flaws, there are no excuses in this sector. Sure , its prettier than a Boxter but lacks the wow factor that Lotus was capable of . Rear is too overstyled and looks bulky , car not wide enough , rear profile roof line not aggressive and too fat looking , front air dams missing something . Car too small . Interior excellent. Close but no cigar.....again
