"Costs as much as a two bedroom apartment" - dead right! And the apartment is an ASSET which will PAY YOU every month for life. Actually you could buy a nice two bed apartment in North Riding for around R750 000. Add R225 000 for the Baleno GL and you have a car AND a flat - with R25 000 change for petrol!

There's another form of finance if you have a home loan. You can (if your house is worth more than the remaining balance on your mortgage) ask for a 're-advance'. Very easy and simple to do (you will probably have to get your house reappraised) and much simpler than a car loan. And, of course, the interest rate on a home loan is a LOT less than a vehicle loan. No deposit and no balloon payment! But, to make it work, you have to be disciplined and put back into your home loan the same amount you would have paid into a vehicle loan. I used this to buy my Picanto - basically paid cash for it (with all the advantages you mentioned).

@@luvontshikintshani7747 If you have a house valued at R1.5 million and you only owe R1 million (because you have been paying off the bond and the value of the house rose) then you can ask your bank for the difference - they will give you R500 000 - cash. That you could use to buy a car. The advantage is you have paid for the car in cash, so you own the car, not the bank. I'm simplifying but that's essentially the process. Ask your bank if you are eligible.

I do concur though that Staria is in a class of its own, maybe they were trying to rival the V-class but overdid something. What are your thoughts between the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Carnival?

Hey Muzi,I ddnt bother watching your chanell in the past coz I dnt understand when u start speaking french.The bits of humour I do understand is funny though.I 1000% agree with your VW sentiments regarding claims,hence after having owned 5 VW's and an Audi,of which I still own 4 VW's I dnt think I will buy another VW soon again.I bought this Carnival and am very happy with it after 2 weeks of ownership.Another point of note,Many dealerships,regardless of the brand,know very little about how to treat a client,how to have product knowledge across the range of vehicles on their showroom floor and generally just treat you as if you are a waste of time,Im 45 years old but still am confronted with a lot of idiots trying to serve me in dealerships.Most of the time I know the cars better than the salespeople themselves,pathetic.

I wish we had the Toyota vans, like the Sienna and the Alphard in SA. I would choose that over a SUV anyday. Some of these SUVs are just a hatchback that are raised. These minivans are way more roomier, with more space for a family etc.

Don't know if you already reviewed it, but what's the thoughts on the Toyota Corolla 1.8 xs cvt hybrid? I saw it at my local Toyota dealership and gotta admit, I like it a lot. Sure it's expensive 430k or something, but it's a smart looking car and does claimed 3.5l/100km to boot!

The snake box is getting out of hand in South Africa, even Citi Golfs have snake boxes now... We need SPCA to tell us their plan on addressing this issue
