2022 Hyundai Kona N Line Review | Huge fun in a tiny package.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Easily the most entertaining car in its class, the Kona is big on smiles and light on cargo space.

The Hyundai Kona is a terrific handling subcompact crossover SUV that delivers a ton of driving enjoyment at the expense of cargo space, passenger space, and hard-earned dollars. It's not a stellar value, given its size, but no other vehicle in the Kona's segment will be as entertaining or as exciting on a daily basis. Cliff Atiyeh test drives the 2022 Hyundai Kona N-Line in this video review.

I got this car in the N-Line trim last May with the Technology Package which gives me a much better infotainment screen and driver safety features. I have the AWD version and consistently record higher-than-reported MPG figures. Is this car small? Yes. Does it sometimes feel cheap relative to money spent? Yes. But the real value of this car comes with the driving experience. It is perfect for the narrow streets in the city and comfortable on the highway, and it is an absolute joy to drive. I mainly got this car because of the warranty and higher ground clearance than competitors with similar statistics. Yes, the Subaru Crosstrek was my first choice (but the current stock of Crosstrek models drives the prices WAY up). I bought this car for MSRP, just some food for thought in this crazy market.

Nice you were able to get it for MSRP. Not the easiest thing to do, these days. As for appearance, the Kona N Line in my opinion, looks better than the Crosstrek. Crosstrek looks to much like a wagon. N Line Kona has a sporty feel. You also got better tech in the Kona, as well as a better warranty. I recently sold my 2011 Hyundai Tucson with almost 140,000 miles. Zero issues. I’m currently looking at a Kona N Line. What color did you get?

I couldn't have said it better myself, Zachery. I too got the Kona N-Line Technology package upgrade, and I am pleased with everything about this car. But mine was a bit over MSRP, unfortunately. Seems the Kona N-Line's here in Florida are in big demand and somewhat short supply. Enjoy!

i owned the turbo limited/n line, and now have the N. The vehicle will run rings around the other brands you mentioned, as well as out handle them as well. Honda is the most overrated, grossly overpriced vehicle in this segment. As for reliability and warranties, Hyundai and Kia are miles ahead...a much better value for your money. In truth, any Toyota, Mazda, Kia , or Hyundai is a much better buy than Honda. The cult sheeple will buy Honda, but smarter people look elsewhere.

I have a 2022 Hyundai Kona N-Line and 3 weeks into owning mine. It’s breaks down and won’t move after. Car was filled up a week prior to the break down

I own the Kona N, first new vehicle I’ve purchased. Interior rattles, turbo stoped working multiple times, and we currently have a recall on the transmission. I don’t know brother, not a good first experience with Hyundai on my end. The dealer and corporate exchanges I’ve had also don’t leave me feeling confident either. For all the missing features in the US model, I also think the car’s performance isn’t good enough to make up for it. Personally, I plan to trade-in the car for something else. Having to do the song and dance every time I fill up to get full boost is such a pain in the ass as well.

Exellent review CarGurus ! i like small cars and SUVs so i would prefer the Kona N Line turbo. I would like to have a moonroof. Just my opinion! ❤❤👋👋👋👋👋

How often you use the moon roof? What’s appealing about it? My IS250 had one and outside of sometimes opening it to let hot air out, I didn’t use it. Cooled seat made me decide to leave it alone as well when car is hot.

Great points Cliff as always. Fully agree that getting an Accord, Civic Sport Hatchback, or K5 would be the better move. Personally I think the Kona is hideous and would go to the Seltos if I had to get a cuv, but the pricing is insane. Would not pay $30k just to get the 1.6T. In its class I would go Seltos 1.6T, but personally would go sedan and get an all around better vehicle for the same price.

Honda is producing some pretty bland and boring cars these days. However, the K5 is pretty sweet. I think the N Line Kona looks fantastic. Has great tech, just about every safety feature imaginable, turbo charged engine, 5 year 60,000 mile warranty, 3 years complimentary maintenance, etc. What do you think this should be priced at? All the other vehicles you mentioned are in the 30K range as well.

@@clifhellner1493 Really Hyundai got lucky we have such a bad car market right now, else I wouldn’t have purchased the Kona N. After owning it, I think it’s not that great, every review mentions price but shortage not being present, I don’t see why people wouldn’t pay a bit more for other options like the GR or Golf R. I think I actually would have been happier going Nline or limited so I at least get all the missing features. If they would have offered this car with a bit of a wide body, 2.5L turbo, and AWD, plus all the missing features, that would be a sweet ride.

@@carloscervantes836 I’ve been very happy with the N Line. Interior materials aren’t the greatest, but not bad and I can live with it. Could have gotten an N, but the N Line was more my style. It’s pretty quick and really fun to drive. Stinks you are aren’t happy with your N.

is the chassis above the wheels plastic like the 2 simpler models or in the N line is like metal? I mean the side "shields"

The body above the wheels (the wheel arches) is in fact plastic, I am happy to say. More plastic in car body = Less rust later!!

there is a fun component to this car that is simply missing from the rest, except for the crosstrek, and that's underpowered, so..... glad i bought the n line, i thought about the mazda c-30 hard but the back end is disturbing (like a squashed frog).

The split lights could use a bit more time in the oven. The back specifically has a modern looking top light and the bottom looks so bulky and old school. The side body work is so flat, they need a touch of wide body, which would also add stability and allow wider tires for better grip. I like the design in general tho, could be a sweet rally base if they didn’t butcher it by not offering AWD and the 2.5L enginex
