In a Premium C segment that’s still just as strategically important, DS 4 is innovative with a unique shape, available in three versions: DS 4, DS 4 CROSS and DS 4 PERFORMANCE LINE.

The DS 4 is a luxury hatchback alternatives to the likes of the BMW 1 Series, Mercedes A-Class and Audi A3. This new model from the posh French manufacturer will bring classy looks, a plush interior and, for the first time for the DS 4, autonomous-driving tech when it goes on sale in the UK in November 2021.
2022 DS 4 design
One of the ways DS tries to make its cars feel like upmarket alternatives to Audi, BWM and Mercedes hatchbacks is through bold designs - and this new DS 4 is no exception.
Upfront, a large grille is flanked by slim LED headlights - with sharply-creased daytime running lights underneath. The roof slopes off to the rear while the doors feature bold creases and the back of the car takes on an almost-box like shape with thin brake lights and plenty of angular details.
You’ll be able to get the DS 4 with 20-inch black-painted alloy wheels, though there’s no word yet on if smaller wheels are available.
Much like the exterior, the DS 4 looks very posh inside. A digital display sits in place of traditional dials and gauges to give you key information and there’s a 10-inch infotainment display sitting in the centre of the dash. You get a head-up display that projects info on the windscreen for you, too.
You get a new five-inch touchscreen in the centre console that can be used to control the DS 4’s main system and driving modes.
The interior itself is laden in leather, with a rather eye-catching brown and white combination in the car shown here. You can even choose between a few different options, including ash brown wood and forged carbon, along with leather or suede-like Alcantara seat trim.
In terms of practicality, the DS 4 has an impressive 430 litres of boot space. That’s a huge leap up from the old car’s 380 litres, which incidentally is the same figure the current BMW 1 Series offers.
2022 DS 4 engines
New for the DS 4 is a plug-in hybrid engine, which combines a turbocharged 180hp petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 225hp. No word yet on a claimed fuel return, but you can expect it to be capable of 30 miles of electric driving only.
There’s also conventional petrol options in 130 and 180hp outputs, along with a 130hp diesel engine. All engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
2022 DS 4 specs
You’ll have a choice of three trims for the DS 4, including entry-level cars, Cross versions and Performance Line models.
No word yet on what the equipment levels of each will be, but expect the 10-inch infotainment screen and digital driver display to come as standard, along with matrix LED headlights.
The DS 4 will also feature semi-autonomous driving features that will allow the car to control its speed and position in lanes on motorways. Night vision is set to be available too.
2022 DS 4 price and release date
Pricing for the DS 4 has yet to be revealed, but expect it to start around £25,000 to put it in line with key alternatives like the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class.
UK sales of the DS 4 are set to start in November.

@@alainbrochet5610, C'est bien connu que quand quelqu'un donne une opinion sur son propre pays, il faut le croire car il est mieux placé que les autres (les étrangers) pour porter un jugement. Bien sûr, il n'a pas forcément raison mais c'est une idée largement répandue.

It amazes me that American car manufacturers will not build a car like this. There are plenty of American designers that design concept cars like these, they never see the light of day so to speak.

C'est une erreur de la personne ayant posté la vidéo. La DS4 est une berline compacte aux allures cross-over. Pas un suv. Les grandes roues sont là pour renforcer l'aspect suv mais ça n'en n'est pas un pour autant.

the cross version is not a suv, it just takes the stylistic codes. the DS4 is a compact sedan that is slightly raised but not high enough to make it a suv. A sort of cross-over.

Have the French finally “got it?” Have they really made a car without some stupid quirk that ends up spoiling the whole dam thing? So far, I’m impressed. Yes, its different, but in a good way. It could have passed for a Lexus, but its styling is much better resolved.
