2022 Browning Spec Ops Elite HP5 Trail Camera Review

#browningtrailcam #trailcam #trailcamera #outdoordesign
In this video I review the 2022 Browning Spec Ops Elite HP5 Trail Camera. I rolled in both picture and video footage directly off this camera into this video. I personally put this camera to the test for a few weeks and I am happy with its performance. I recommend this camera to anyone in the market looking for a solid trail camera that takes high quality pictures and videos. This camera is very user friendly! It is also great for beginners. The 2” viewing screen is a must have. It’s crystal clear live view helps you make real-time hunting decisions by being able to check what has crossed your cameras path without needing to remember to bring anything into the field. It also helps you make sure you have the perfect shot of your desired spot so you know you have everything in the frame. It Doesn’t make any noise when triggered wether on photo or video mode. The battery life was excellent! The video on this camera is up there with the best! I had no issues with this camera. I hope you enjoy the review and it helps you decide which camera to buy.

    Good Morning. My name is Erik and I'm from Brazil, I imported some cameras from browning to my country, to record the fauna around here. Great review, I started buying my browning cameras after seeing the hp4 reviews you did last year. I have both hp4(recon/spec) and hp5(recon/spec) models. The cameras are great for video and animal detection. The only big problem is the sound recording, with a few months, my HP4 only recorded static sound. I solved it, changing their microphones and the audio recording was amazing, all the sounds of nature. I hope my two HP5s don't have this same problem with audio, but I realize that the audio capture is not good. For audio recording, I rate it 2 out of 5. Regards., Erik.

    Checking in from the United States, that's awesome. Im glad I could help you out, thanks for letting me know that. If you have that issue again check brownings website under the customer service tab then click software and updates. If there is a firmware update for your specific model, it will be listed there. I had a similar issue in the past and a simple firmware update fixed it. It's real simple you just put the update on your SD card then download it to your camera. Browning has the simple steps and directions on their website on how to do that correctly. It's super easy though. The audio was fine on my HP5. I did notice it on some of the newer models, these things are common with newly released trail cameras. I run my Spec Ops every year through the hunting season here and haven't had the same issue. Your trail camera also comes with a 1 year warranty, Brownings customer service is great so that's another option if you experience this in the future.

    @@Outdoord Good morning, good trail camera reviews, they don't exist in my language, because they are not sold here in Brazil. I have to watch these content made in other countries on KZread. The browning cameras are all firmware up to date, the problem is in the hardware itself, here in Brazil it rains a lot. As you said, it is very easy to configure and update the firmware, the Browning software is excellent, nothing to complain about. I watch your videos using KZread automatic subtitles and automatic translation to Portuguese. 👍 Then listen to the sound of the birds in the new microphone on my HP4, it was amazing kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppt2rK6Oddm_nLg.html Regards, Erik

    I have been enjoying both the Recon Force Elite HP5 and the Spec Ops Elite HP5 cams for a while now and they are great on alkaline batteries and even better on Lithiums. The NiMH setting is for rechargeable batteries. I have not tried those at this point. I do use the Browning solar panels on both of my Deer Feeder cams bc it makes it easier without frequent battery changes. I love Browning cameras. So many quality cameras with different options to choose from. Take care and thanks for your great review videos, Char 😊🦌☀️

    No problem thanks for sharing!!! I haven't tried the rechargeables or the solar. Im sure it pays for itself for sure. Lithium batteries are expensive at the moment. For me they have given me long battery life and have stood up to the cold winters we get here.

    The HP5s have been great cameras so far, although i did see someones post(forget the channel) showing condensation in the screen after a few months outside. I did also notice during a few downpours that my spec ops hp5 was struggling and the videos were cloudy for a day after from moisture. Hopefully not a widespread issue because the quality on these are great.

  • @Outdoord

    @Outdoord

    Жыл бұрын

    I haven't had the moisture in the screen in any of the newer spec ops. I did get a spec ops advantage a few years back that had that issue but browning replaced it, and I haven't had that issue again. I think that one just had a bad seal. I did however experience the same thing when it rained with the newer line of the spec ops. The camera also did get itself back together after the weather stabilized. I don't think any moisture got inside the camera it was more of the humidity and moisture on the outside lens. I have had that happen with about every trail camera I own. That temperature change and water is hard to battle, if it does get down inside I have in the past let them dry out and they were fine. Some won't recover. I think it should be fine though, it's pretty common with summer time.

    Thank you for good review with good video of actual use ! The video quality is very impressive. Your video was also filmed in the forest, but I wonder how this product works in the dim forest by more canopy. Is the quality expected to deteriorate?

  • @Outdoord

    @Outdoord

    There shouldn't be much of a difference depending on lighting. It just depends on wether the cameras sensor picks up enough light to shoot in full color or black and white. This usually happens in low light situations like early morning late evening and at night time. Sometimes a really cloudy day can trigger the black and white more often. If there is enough light then it will record in color. So if you are ok with that, which I had both examples in the video, it will look the same. The only real way to tell is to put one out in your area and see. If there is a decent amount of sunlight it should be fine. As far as the quality goes no matter what the lighting is the full color always looks better, but I don't think the black and white necessarily deteriorates, its just shot in a different way.

    All around would definitely be something out of the spec ops line. They do both great. Check Brownings website the spec ops edge they had a great deal on recently, it's very fairly priced for an awesome camera. I have a couple of them, I also did a review on that exact camera if you want to check it out. The patriot is my favorite for just pictures, or the dark ops pro DCL. With that fall sale going on though hard to be the spec ops edge! Let me know what you decide all the models I mentioned I did full reviews on my channel.

    I own one of these cameras. Great camera. But a bit expensive. I went ahead and got a security box from Camlock Box, one of their heavy duty swivel mounts, as a cable lock. Any truly dedicated thief of course will find a way, but It def deters. Aldo of what I do is just wildlife capturing so I really get off the beaten path setting these up.

    There is a couple different models that are HP4's in the Browning Lineup. The spec ops elite HP4 would be a close compare to this model the Spec Ops Elite HP5. I think you are referring to the Recon Force HP4 in that case, with the night time videos and pictures you would get better quality. As far as what is better It all comes down to your preference and what you are lookin for.

    @@Outdoord hey thanks. I think I'm going to go for the spec ops elite hp5, I'll be using it for security also so I don't want people to see the camera when it's triggered so no glow would be better. What concerned me though was when you said the image at the edges was less sharp compared to others you've experienced. Were the cameras that were sharper at the edges no glow cameras? Was this lack of sharpness at the edges a big concern for you?

    @@gromageindustries6745 No problem. That's a good choice. That is my favorite model in the browning lineup. It's a great all around trail camera. They are also continuing this model in the lineup for another year from what I hear. Meaning a new model isn't coming out in 2024. I prefer the invisible infrared/no glow as well. I dont have any concerns about the image quality or video quality this camera does both of them well.

  • @Outdoord

    I have mostly Browning trail cams. I don't know much about Bushnell, Its been some years since I have ran some of their cams. I can tell you about the HP5 though. It takes great HD video, it also takes good pictures. I personally like to run video on the majority of my trail cams, so if you're looking for a camera that does both good this is it. Battery life is excellent, I get a couple months out of mine.. Also, if you're planning on putting it out on public land, wanna use it as a surveillance camera, or worried about spooking deer it has invisible infrared technology to keep it out of sight and out of mind. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Have you experienced these Trailcameras corrupting your SD cards ? Here is what we are experiencing. We survey for Arizona Game and Fish Department. We have 75 Browning Trailcameras , 35 of which are the Elite Hp5 and Elite HP5 Spec ops cameras . If you run your cameras to the point to where your batteries become dead before you check your Trailcameras, the Trail Camera will corrupt your Sdcards . You cannot or will not be able to view any of the files off the Sdcard and the Sdcard itself becomes useless , ruined . Have you eperienced this ? This has happened to every one of our cameras

    No I haven't had that issue. In this video, I ran it completely dead and everything was fine. It was also ran throughout the season with no issues. What SD cards are you guys running? Are they all the same in all your cameras? In the past I had a particular SD card give me some issues, with a different Browning model. However, I switched to the ones I use now and have used them with several browning models with no issues. I can give you the link for the SD card I have been running for the past couple of years with no issues. Sometimes also if you swap SD card between different models it can cause some problems. I recommend marrying each SD card to the same model camera. I would also recommend going on brownings website and making sure the firmware is up to date on all of them. A lot of the time a simple firmware update can fix a lot of issues. Hit me back, i'm happy to help!

    @mikefoote6916 We are having the same issue with the HP5. I have several trail cameras I use for wildlife footage work. HP5 is destroying sd cards. I use SanDisk extreme and extreme pros Class 10, V30 U3 and its doing same thing. I am able to retrieve some of the footage with some software I have for that sort of thing. We aren't noticing it with battery life though, it's when the sd card gets full its corrupting them. They aren't readable by anything except my software to fix things. Same SD cards I've used for years in all my Brownings with no issues, just this one camera. I sent an email to Browning, hoping to figure it out.
