25 expert operators from across the Altorfer territory in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Indiana came together to compete in Altorfer's Cat Operator Challenge for a chance to advance through the regional semifinals and on to the Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge finals in Las Vegas during the 2023 CONEXPO.
Winning the Altorfer competition, Kent Richmond, project manager for Klocke Inc. of Palmyra, Missouri, cemented his spot to advance to the semifinals in North Carolina. Taking second place was Chris Dykes, superintendent for McCleary Excavating Co. Inc. of Blue Grass, Iowa and Chandler Concrete & Excavating’s Brandon Chandler placed third.
