Because men's bodies need to maturing first before they can handles more difficult jumps (anyone not named Nathan Chen that is). Women's bodies when they undergone puberty Will change, thus their jumps might lose its previous forms and need to be retrained. 15yo champions are mainly Russian thing, as the ladies competition is as deep as it gets. Yuna Kim herself won OGM and OSM at 19 and 23 respectively. Kostner was 26/27 when she won bronze in Sochi. Asada Mao herself retrained her longevity too. It's just that in Russia, you have to be the best to even be able to go to international Comps. It's just a bloodbath whenever RusNats is held

Also idk about yall but while she skates you just get a different feeling. She is the most consistent out of all of them. Also she broke her leg when she was thirteen skated with a fever at 2021 nationals and still won the whole thing. She is amazing and in my opinion she deserves world champion

I'd say Liza's silver medal received more attention than Anna's gold one in Russian mass media commentaries. Everyone expected from Anna to be on the 1st place, so there was no surprise, but Liza has really nice story, taking into account that she was not accepted to words'18, there is a mad competition inside of national team, but she is a fighter, true sportsman spirit.

  • @helgayali

I'd say Anna received enough attention for her 1st place. Liza is in the sun too, and Anna is so much appreciated for her win as they value any 1st place, support Eteri's group and Anna's age and her pre-existing disease, which made it more difficult to perform, made her especially remarkable. Of course Liza's silver medal is prominent and so much valued. She is a role model of patience and stable hard work, so her tears spoke louder than any words. I'd say her self-conquest and silver medal gained the same amount of publicity as any 1st place in some other figure skating disciplines. Btw, noone was sure it would be up to Anna to win, as there also was Sasha Trusova, who is especially sophisticated, and also powerful Rika Kihira.

This is not true. The Russian media published a lot of materials about Anna's victory. Anna has already been on a TV program dedicated to the victory of Russian figure skaters at the World Championships. Attention is paid to Anya enough. Another thing is that, firstly, there are other winners - in pairs and in dancing, and secondly, everyone is concerned about the failure of Trusova and the inability of Plushenko to adequately train such an elite figure skater. With a normal coach, Sasha had a huge chance of winning this World Championship. The Olympics are ahead, and, of course, everyone is worried that Sasha with such a coach may simply not qualify for the Olympics, given the enormous competition in Russia.

@@syd1764 , actually, this is all related to the work of the coach! "Mom and dog" - this is a kindergarten on the road. Anya was also without her mother for the first time at international competitions, but she did not complain and managed, although she was clearly not at ease. Plushenko made a lot of mistakes at this World Championship - he refused to take her coach Mikhailov with Sasha, during training before the short program, for some reason, quads jumped and one content with a trixel rolled, but in reality they refused the trixel, which led to a fall from the 3Lz, which she performs with her eyes closed, and the loss of the cascade. As a result, Sasha was forced to take the maximum risk in the free program with 5(!!!) quads that she had never perfomed cleanly in her life. It's just lucky that Rika fell apart, otherwise Sasha will not see the podium as his ears! These are all purely coaching mistakes. Compare with the work of Tutberidze - Anya takes gold with a reserve even if the content is not the most difficult for her!

Figure skating isn't all about triple axels. Besides, the free skate showed us that Rika isn't mentally ready to win international competitions. I loved Lindsay, Josefin, Alexandra Feigin.. such gems and actually very enjoyable to watch. What's also great is that they won spots for Beijing for their countries that have not been represented in many years at the OG. This kinda makes me look at the event from a positive perspective and not think about the ISU and the injustice we witnessed. Also, I cried for Liza. She's amazing. What bugged me aside from skating was... did anyone notice Eteri's doctor in the background during Anna's free skate? Honestly, she is going to be under more pressure than most because the Japanese skaters are never scored generously than the Russians (PCs and GOEs) even if they have better technique and skating skills, which rika does. Moreover I don’t think people would be as mad if the rus ladies’ mistakes were called like Rika’s should be, whether marked Q or UR which judges should have done as well. However even so, rika definitely did not deserve to win and I think most people with a brain know that lol. Actually ppl have been also been talking about her nerves and mentality which caused her URs because I’m not gonna lie, she needs a sports psychologist ASAP. If she has one already, she needs a change in training because they are obviously not working for her. It’s the second worlds she has bombed. If she keeps on going like this, even if she’s the top JPN lady they are going to lose faith in her fast. She has huge issues with nerves and it is a very hard for a skater to have a reputation of being consistent but so easy for them to lose that reputation and if they do, the PCs will definitely take a hit. I can already foresee that happening with her. She needs someone to start helping her nerves for her to peak at the proper competitions. Trusova needs this too, however thankfully judges still love her (not as much as the eteri girls but more then the JPN ladies) and when she falls she gets back up with a fighting spirit and continues her program. However rika..when she falls, her whole program breaks apart. She needs some real nerves training for the Olympics coming up 😔

If she was in Russia she would have been passed by by a few girls already the way Alliona has been passed by. But she's in Japan and she's going to have a 10 year career at least because there's no one coming up behind her to passer by. Zhenya Alina Aliona weren't so lucky. ;) Sasha would have won worlds gold without question if she did not leave TT. All she needed here was a 3 quad free skate and a decent short program that scored 75 points and it would have been hers. But I'm very happy on you one even though she was far from her best. We should cut everybody slack because at the world championships in Stockholm nobody could do anything or go anywhere it was stay in your Room or go to the rink. Rika has been to worlds twice and bombed both times. Anna has mental toughness Sasha and Aliona and Rika can only dream of. Bradie 9th? Not a good job. ;) Lucky the US has 3 spots now.

How one twitter said: Tutberidze: "Daniil doesn't count, he is a club pet" :)). Jokes aside, what I don't like about Anna is that she is almost an industry plant, skating wise. Tutberize ofc wanted another champion and Anna happened to be the only one left in the team that actually is over 15 and competing. So, guess we had a new world champion. SP proved that loud and clear. And in the FS, oh, how lucky she was that Rika and Sasha did the errors they did. Because she couldn't even land quads, let alone a 3A. But you can see already that she is meeting the usual "expiration date". I bet she is the new Mededeva and she will be so lucky if she manages to grab the OGM and then I doubt she will manage to keep on. And her skating - over scored and repetitive. If next year we see again "sad soundtrack" programs, I will be so dissapointed, but not surprised. And how she did the interview with the whole team behind her while Sasha and Liza without even the one coach they had - she gave this vibe of "very controlled skater by its team". Like for eg you can see that Liza is in complete control of her programs and choices. Sasha almost is getting there. But Anna? Oh no, I bet if Daniil will giver her "wheels on the bus" to skate to and Eteri will make her jump 56hours a day, she will do it regardless of her opinion or discomfort :)) Nothing against Anna though as a person. She does what it takes. And she is only a teenager. The mechanism though behind this whole "champions of Tutberidze" is sth I completely disagree of- because while the results are there, the soul and "legendary stuff" is not. I bet in 10 years people will forget about many of the "Eteri champions", but will still remember other stars, that didn't even had the same "succes".

Anna had that 3Lz + 3Lo in the second half, which was her most difficult jump and worth the most points. I'd say their components score should have been around the same, but cleanliness of elements also factors into the components score as well. So I agree with the final standing after the short but perhaps the gap should have been a little shorter.

I fell in LOVE with Evgenia Medvedeva during Pyongyang and was absolutely devastated when she was not awarded GOLD(I cried right along with her). So after that I became obsessed with all these young Russian female skaters that were coming up, especially Sasha who was doing quads(not that I can really tell the difference between any of the jumps until Johnny Weir tells me). Anyways, I had no idea all the DRAMA going on behind the scenes! But as much as this drama is as intriguing as an episode of The Real Housewives, it is so sad for these young Russian athletes who sadly will probably have shortened careers due to the constant influx of new, younger skaters and the physical damage to their bodies. However, I'm still rooting that Sasha might hold on and have a chance at an Olympic Medal🥇and an extended career... She's fun to watch!

This is an alternate world where Ladies event was a mess even worse than men 😂. Ngl, men's FS was cleanish and enjoyable. Ladies' is... Let's just say this FS never happened 😶😶 Okay, let's get to my view about ladies FS: - Sasha literally went 'go big or go home' and it rewarded her nicely. 3 landed quads out of 5. Her placement went up a lot. Empty program, but understandable as she was focused to nail those quads. Good redemption (not at the level of Nat's redemption, but very good) - Liza, empty program too. She's just not that developed in artistry and musicality. Beautiful jumps and technique tho. Also that KnC was touching. Her 6 years waiting was finally paid off. - Anna fell once on that 4F, them ditch her original layout and did triples only. With a bonus Alina's trademark. She was clean, she was showered with GOEs. She was traveling when she spinned. Very good skate tho. This girl is as clutch as you can get ngl. Now onto the JPN ladies: - Rika. Underrotations, losing level on spins and StSq, fall. She choked. Underrotations has been her problems for a while now. Unless Lambiel can fix her asap, she has to say goodbye to her chance at Beijing as TP was scrunitizing the JP ladies hard yesterday and looks like they won't let her (them) off easy. - Satton was a mess both in SP and FS 😭😭. She looked so down. I hope she was alright and can bounce back. Idc about her jumps, i just wanna see Satton mesmerize us with her sublime skate. - Kaori looked the best out of the 3. That flutz was called tho Overall JP barely hanging on their 3 spots... Notable mention: - Loena and Karen. Clean programs. Very enjoyable skate. Karen saved USA their spots 👍👍. Hope USfed can choose her for Beijing. She deserved it IMO. Conclusion: The ice is slippery. Anything can happen. The Russian ladies might sweep here. But who knows w/e will happen at Beijing?

Nathan’s choreography and artistry is underrated. He does more than “move around the rink” and jump. His style is just more clean and minimalist not the flashy style that is popular in men’s today. Not sure how so many ppl can’t see the quality of his basic skating skills and his interpretation.

@@katherinetan4587...I completely agree. I mean, some think that unless you're trussed up like a peacock and are in-your-face dramatic in your interpretation of music then it means you have no artistry. Seriously??? There's more than one style of art in this world. Nathan has a very refined style of elegance to his skating. It feels very modern and refreshing. He skates fluidly, but cleanly and with absolute precision. I love that about him! I also love his versatility. He can be simple elegance or just darn straight-up COOL at times. Overall, I view his skating style as a more masculine one...very much the opposite of Yuzuru's more flowery style, and whichever you prefer is entirely up to your personal tastes. Some love heavy perfumes while others love light, clean scents...but to say that Nathan has "no artistry" or "only moves around the rink" is a complete joke. I guess some people just have no clue how to appreciate a more modern, subtle form of art.

I don’t understand much about the scoring in figure skating, so I just wanna ask: is it normal that Anna had almost the same score that Trusova in the free program? Because I mean, she fall on the quad jump and her spins didn’t go so well, and even though trusova fell two times, she had 3 quads, but seriously can someone explain? Thanksss

Simply put: Anna is kinda overscored, especially considering her sit spin which was very wobbly but still got a positive GOE. Also, Anna typically receives more points for artistry than Trusova which completely makes sense since she is more artistic, ballerina-like. That way they almost even out the score. Hope this makes sense..

    Because what was landed bring a lot of pts. Look: 4F - 12.57 4Lz+3T - 19.48 !!!!!!!! amazing cascade 3Lz+3T - 12.63 Anna's best: 3F+3T - 11.24 3F+1Eu+3S - 12.55 3Lz+3Lo - 13.65 Also Anna went to 2A 2 times, that jump is not highly rated. For Anna scores for that jumps was 4.34 and 4.29. Sasha fell on 4S 3.99 and 4Lz 4.52. As u can see, even if u fall on quad it still costs like a solid clear 2A

Also Sashas 4T+1Eu+3S has a lot of penalties. 4T in that cascade was downgraded to 3T cuz of hudge under-rotation. And yes PCS for Anna - 72.85, Sasha - 66.34. So overall they was close

Scherbakova is overscored in every single element, spins, choreo, jumps,. Flutzes, sequences....If she wasnt overscored she would end in 5th place...

Why are people so mad? I can't prove or deny anything about corruption in figure skating, but let's pretend like judjes are actually "bought". So what will change? Rika did a beautiful sp, but she fell from 3A on her fp, when Liza did clean 3A, and another one not that good. Anna and Sasha do quads.Even if they fall, they have tremendous "starter points" of any quad jumper. Soooo, basically nothing would change. I personally don't like the system. I would really like to see more profound skating skills and not the quad jumping in ladies skating. But why are the girls "bad"? Go fucking reform the system..

I don’t really worry about Anna’s expiration date tbh, Evgenia competed at the olympics at 18 yo and she also hadn’t been in great shape her whole season - so I’m guessing Anna will be fine?? And if not we all know there’ll be tons of girls fit to take her spot lol
