2021 Volvo XC40 T5 R-Design Review, Walkaround, In-depth tour, and test drive
While European cars are the rave when it comes to looking for a premium car, we oftentimes only think of German cars, and a couple of British cars. This may range from sports cars, large luxurious sedans, all the way to small crossovers which sell like hotcakes and probably compose a majority of sales of these brands in the country. With that said, we have failed to dive deeper and to explore another hidden gem of a European car, Volvo.
One said Volvo comes in the form of the Volvo XC40 in its top trim T5 R-Design form which delivers substantially more in the refinement, luxury, power, and handling department than its German counterparts available in the Philippines. With special features such as the astounding Volvo IntelliSafe system giving you almost Tesla-like semi-autonomous driving and adaptive cruise control capabilities, and a powerful 2.0L turbocharged engine that makes 252hp, nowhere near the low figures other cars in its class produces, it will sure make owners of its German rivals feel like they've made the wrong purchasing decision.

have this in the USA and LOVE IT! and ppl say this is a coolray LMFAO! nah buddy! coolray is a GEELY product... the XC40 is a VOLVO engineered product with volvo certified safety crash testing etc! Also correction …. Geely uses their bma platform and Volvo uses their CMA platform .

True. I drove the Coolray for a couple of days though and while they feel distinct from one another, you know that there are some similarities here and there haha

The Coolray actually uses the BMA platform which was developed independently by Geely.

Yep but still some of it feels similar haha! The turn signal stalk too is right off of the XC40

Great review! Subscribed! If anyone of you are looking at this Volvo for your next vehicle, the 360 degree cam, sunroof, pilot assist are must haves. Here in Australia its called the lifestyle pack and the intelli-safe pack. You wont regret getting this SUV. I have owned mine since September 2018 and still give it a quick look back after parking the car. 😍

@@KyleLiongCars Abso-friggin-lutely brilliant. Three years no issues and here in Sydney, Volvo service is top notch. They give me an XC60 loaner every time i get my car serviced - I think they're trying to influence me to upgrade😛. Also helps that I got 3 years free service.

@@KyleLiongCars Yeah the XC60 is looking a bit long in the tooth already and carries the same number of passengers as my XC40 - 5. The XC60 like per like is about AUD 10K over the XC40. The real upgrade is the XC90 but, in Sydney where parking is narrower than most countries, you're at the losing end. So I'm happy with my XC40 and my Swedish Crystal Gear knob. :)

@@KyleLiongCars I chose it over the BMW X1, Jaguar EPace and the Audi Q3 - saved a lot of money too! My XC40 was built in Ghent, Belgium.

Pretty much most cars are pretty good but reliability is a test of time. I think the Mainland Chinese made cars still need to make their mark as far as long term reliability is concerned.
Actually Mercedes-Benz was the first to offer airbags as an option

Dude, based on the videos you comment on (yes, they're public), I can tell that you've been planning to buy a "Chinese" car. If you like the Coolray, go get one. After all, it's co-developed by Volvo. But you have to digest that IT'S NOT AN XC40, and give a rest to that insinuation. ✌️

Agree with sir Mike. While there are similarities here and there (turn signal switch for example), and I have to admit that the Coolray is excellent, we still can’t and shouldn’t expect it to be as good as the XC40 especially in this T5 trim
