I have a question. Has the rule 6.03(a)(1) been forgotten. Most of these players have their lead foot clearly out of the batters box. Most of these home runs would be called out if the home plate umpire was paying attention. Only takes one out call to get the attention of the players. I was an umpire for years and would make that call.

I’ve played some men’s slo-pitch at a high level. It is basically a home run derby that threatens the lives of the pitcher and 3rd baseman. So, both boring and dangerous. Then I discovered Orthodox or Modified Fastpitch softball. It makes pitching a bigger part of the game, you play with 9 guys not 10 and there are a lot more ground ball plays to the infield. I find the game more interesting, more athletic and less dangerous. Pitched for 20 years and only 2 ER trips (busted face - wore mask after that and dislocated pinky). 😉 I wish there was more men’s ortho around.

I play 3rd and that's what people don't understand. Yeah, it's slow pitch, but there's nothing slow about the ball coming at you when some roided out dude is standing there licking his chops waiting to smash the ball. Most field conditions are trash too and it's always a guessing game as to which way the ball will decided to hop. All in all, people can hate, but they're having fun. No one has aspirations of going pro at this point. It's just a hobby for most.

Its kinda sad to see softball come to this, where defense is almost irrelevant & not considered important & not played well.

These are the top players in softball and most played college or minor league baseball. A few made it to the MLB.

I played B level and the quality of defensive abilities there are not even close! These meat heads using 52 core balls along with the bats today turns this into a glorified homerun derby! Our B level team had plenty of guys who could go yard. I believe we were restricted to 8 homers which always came into play. Most of these guys are below ave fielders and boring to watch! JMO..

B teams wouldn’t win a game at this tournament and probably wouldn’t hit more than 1 or 2 home runs.

I unfortunately watched this whole game and can sum it up: -the commentary (while there are no other options) doesn't add anything of value to the product -the 2nd basemen has zero business playing 2nd base. -the 5th infielder on both teams got what...1 play all game? Would have done better to be in the outfield help out all those gap shots. -the non stop homeruns might be great for the ego, but absolutely boring AF for everyone watching. The defense can't do anything. The offense has seen it before. The audience has seen so many in this game. There are so many that the rules have to LIMIT the teams on how many they can hit??!?! At this level, it should be wood bats or nothing. This is a horrible product at such a "high" level. As a baller, I was extremely bored watching this game and will never watch one of these types of games ever again. There was "a" double play after the pinch hitter and a few quick grabs. But there was nothing exciting defensively at all. Practically everyone was swinging for the fences. So many homeruns and flyouts.

Thanks for your feedback. I had a poll asking if people wanted commentary and it was over 90% yes. I understand there are those that don't want it but there is nothing I can do about that. You could mute it or turn it down. Major softball is played with 5 infielders they get plenty of chances. In one part of your comment you say its all home runs and in another part you say the rules limit the home runs... what is it?
