The only complaint I have about the nissian (and this is coming from a 1 day owner 😁😁so take my complains with grain of saolt) I hate how ungracefully the glovebox just flops with a thud, absolutely 0 pump action or spring or what ever makes them open up nice and softly these just as soon as you open they come down with a thud no stop. And how GAWD DAMN small the storage for arm rest compartment is like WOW I seen sedans with bigger compartments than that no even joking. I felt offended, robbed almost seeing how little space the compartment had

Bought mine brand new in 2019 mine is like a tank, I drive everywhere summer winter good roads bad roads atv trail’s literally everywhere a abuse my kicks alot, hit two moose and still going strong! Happy 2024!!!

Pick mine up on Monday, it’s a 2024 and I loved the test drive plus Nissan gives great deals with trade in. Complaining about those three little things is because she bought the cheapest one which is fine just don’t expect the best when you by the least expensive car. L

The L and the D on the shifter should have been the other way around. That way, all one needs to do is shift it all the way down and you will for sure be in "drive" The engineers fell asleep on this one. What the heck were they thinking. 🤦‍♂️

No, Honda does this too. The rationale is that lowers gears are lower physically

I've found the same annoying things as well. I also hate that there's no center console, so after only 2 days with my new kicks I went ahead and ordered a center console. Now I've got to remove my driver's armrest and install the damn thing. Lol

I’m surprised that the cupholders are that small. I have the base model and the cupholders are simple round inserts. They fit large cups too.

The 2024s are still the same, but I love mine! Everything else I own have big V8s. So my kicks pays for itself. 😂

The emergency braking feature is super annoying. If you’re in bumper to bumper traffic or parking and you get 5-10 inches close to the next car or a wall, the car will abruptly hit the brakes and bring it to a full stop. You can turn it off, but what I don’t like is that it turns itself back on once you shut the car off. So every time you drive the car you have to turn it off to keep the car from doing that. If I turn a feature off, it should stay off permanently until I as the owner and driver decides to turn it back on. It shouldn’t reset back to on every time I turn the car off.

Well, you k ow it unlocks the doors when you shift to P, right? And you can even adjust how the door will behave using the menu.

Ive never had either of those bogus features you want in any vehicle ive owned. It bugs me though that when i say "open sesame" wings dont shoot out the doors and the vehicle doesnt turn into a plane. That really annoys me. I hate when i fart on the seat, the windows dont automatically roll down. That really annoys me.

So it has door locks like every other car, a gear shift like every other car, and is small so there isn’t space for both cup holders and an armrest

The waterbottle one is the most obnoxious , sometimes my waterbottle is legit in the way for me to change gears

Like to hear what you really like about the Nissan Kicks. How is it driving on the freeway in lots of fast traffic? What about driving in snow? Things like that would be helpful to those of us wondering about this car and considering purchasing it. Also, when are they bringing the electric version (currently in the Philippines) to the US?

I can address that. I have one as a rental car. I have driven it in snow these past few days. I also drive it on the expressway. I think it is best for non- expressway driving. Then it is actually fun. I am getting better with it on the expressway. It isn't that sluggish, but it is a rental, so I'm more careful and go slow. As far as acceleration, my Honda made a dragging noise. The Kicks isn't that noisy, just not the fastest car on the road. The ride is smooth for a little car. Going to work in the snow, I was used to my old car, but I got the hang of the Kicks by the time I was driving home. I felt the tires might slide more than those on my Honda, so I was careful. I have no problem with the shift. I don't ram right through them like this video does. I move from gear to gear, politely, gently. The gas mileage is great. I'd actually like to get the car. I'm just concerned about the transmission failing. But even the Toyotas with this kind of transmission have reliability problems per Consumer Reports. It is a new car, so only a few model years have worrisome problems. The complaint sight actually listed few complaints. One was the heater. I had the same problem, but then I figured out how to work it, and the problem disappeared. (It used to go from hot to cold, no in between. But I think that was me. I needed to push automatic setting. Overall, a cute, fun car. But the transmission worries me.

Jeez lady stop abusing the car.

BUT!! It has something physical to touch on the trans. I LOVE THAT! We just drove a new Honda Ridgeline and.. its nice.. but not EVER going to be nice enough for me to push a button to put in gear. So, SUPER thumbs up on that physical shift!

I’ve had mine for about 4 months now and I can say I have gotten used to the position of D and rarely put it into L now once you get used to driving the car none of these are really a problem anymore but that could just be me

This is such girly stuff , any male driver doesn't have to pull the gear shift to their full girly arm strength accidentally putting car in Low gear .

Really like my 2019 SR. Of any cons I find, these 3 are not among them. Isn't the door handle designed that way to keep small children from being able to open said locked door?

On my car (not Nissan) it automatically unlocks in the front but not the back. It would probably drive me a little crazy if it doesn't automatically unlock in the front since I like to lock the doors when I'm driving. My previous car did not automatically unlock in the front when pulling door handle, but it automatically locks the car when in gear and unlocks in park, so it wasn't an issue there.

None of the three things you mentioned are defects. As a matter of fact the first one is a safety design. You should not be able to open the door by the handle if the door is locked.

Ridiculous.... now something worthwhile... does it slam on the brakes for no apparent reason when you're doing at least 35MPH? Many Nissans do that... that's worth complaining about.

To me it’s not the car it’s the tantrum that need to be fixed

The water bottle, lift your elbow . Gear selector, watch what gear the pointer is at . As for the door , unlock them with the power door locks. So difficult , you're being petty. You may have had a heart attack in the 70s when AC was an option , automatic transmission was an upgrade and the only vehicles with power locks were high end luxury cars.

I just bought a 2023 Nissan kicks and i cannot stand the head rest. It pushes to far forward and is killing my neck. Thinking of either switching it out for another kind or turning the head rest backwards.....its a pain in the ass!!!
