    Thank you for uploading this clip, been waiting so long & patiently for a Mitsubishi Pajero 0-100 test. I’ve owned a Gen 2 & now on a Gen 3 (both diesel models) and maybe in the foreseeable future move onto a Gen 4 Pajero. Been a huge fan of it from early humble beginnings in the Dakar Rally to now. I’m somewhat disappointed to see Mitsubishi put and end to production of such an iconic vehicle which has been around for nearly 40 years. The 3.2L turbo diesel engine may have been around for a long time, along with some changes throughout the years, it definitely goes to show that they are a bulletproof motor. But the bottom line is that the Pajero has stood the test of time really well & in my opinion they are very capable, simple & reliable and not as complex like most modern 4WDs these days. Love it or hate it, the Mitsubishi Pajero is my favourite 4x4 of all time 👍

    Thank you for not being a snobby flog and saying how rubbish this car is. “It is what it is” but it remains great value and totally bullet proof. Full disclosure I own one but all the cool kids like to bag out the Pajero and at face value it’s still a great vehicle.

    I don't get how paying $60,000+ for 15 year old technology is good value in anybodys books. There are parts of this car that look like it came of a 380 from the mid-2000s. Hell its based on its 1999 successor... ridiculous, making it more like 22 year old technology.

    Fam has one for half a decade. While it's decent, the current model has been around since 2006. 15 years already but the platform and mechanicals are even older, since 1999. We know it's still very reliable, is a capable 4wd and mostly cheap to maintain but fast forward to 2021, damn it feels so freaking old nowadays. Although powerful enough, nvh levels aren't on-par anymore with modern suvs since it has a noisy engine, rough vibrations and you can hear some rattles/squeaks inside. Interior, meanwhile, has no telescopic steering adjustment, doesn't even have enough roomy door pockets to store multiple bottles during hardcore out of town trips and its middle row seats can cause butt cramps in long drives. As for the exterior, while not bad-looking, is conservative as it doesn't look as imposing as the closely-related third generation it replaced (which was the best looking pajero ever imo). Over other similar suvs, the fourth generation only looks like a lifted 4x4 wagon lol. Last year, it's funny how they've started discontinuing this while toyota upped their game by updating their small 2.8 turbodiesel engine for the prado, hilux and the other rigs as well. As a result the similar j150 prado (also due for full-model replacement next year) in particular, looks fresher and now boasts more power while being more refined and more capable off-road. Today, there is no more reason to pick the pajero over that suv aside from maybe frugal reasons or brand loyalty. Sad to say, its famed nameplate remains the only thing carrying the reputation of mitsubishi's flagship rig these days because it used to have a prestigious history in the past but since they stopped participating in the dakar rally near the end of 2000s, they haven't released a fifth generation until now. So go beyond the mighty pajero nameplate and you can see there isn't that much it offers anymore over its fresher peers in the market. What's worse is that they just decided to retire it recently but if they ever decide to bring it back one of these days, most likely it will become a large crossover which may also have that hideous dynamic shield front crap mitsubishi came up with since mid 2010s.

Mitsu like doing this with their cars. Look at the 1980's express can that was sold until 2012 or even the final series Lancer sold until 2019 that didn't look much different than the 2007 model.

  • @anthonyramdin1037

    @anthonyramdin1037

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well firstly this should have been quicker but the gas tank was almost empty which means their is less fuel pressure in the fuel line making it slower. With a full or even half tank the vehicle would accelerate faster. Now if you want to get it quicker the tune would have to be done as to achieve as much hp out of the engine. You can also put an upgraded intercooler and maybe a cold air intake to make it reach that 7.5 sec mark

  • @DC_888

    @DC_888

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@anthonyramdin1037 I disagree that it would be quicker with a half full or even full tank. That is more weight, simple science. The slight increase in pressure in the fuel lines would make no difference, remember these run very high pressure fuel pumps that can push out in excess of 15,000 psi.

  • @anthonyramdin1037

    @anthonyramdin1037

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@DC_888 I used to think the same thing as you until I experienced it myself. I drive a 120 series prado and a mitsubishi triton and whenever both have below quarter tanks they are very lethargic. Like no matter how hard you press the accelerator you just don't get much power. The engine is slow to respond and even when the turbo spools up it still doesn't give you that much power. I was like but these things have bloody high pressure fuel pumps but the fact is that with more fuel in the tank, that weight pushes fuel into the line with pressure before it reaches the pump. Now to my knowledge their is only one fuel pump that is in the engine bay ( I could be wrong idk) but pressure in the line before it reaches the pump increases the efficiency and performance on the pump. This is just my personal experience

    @@anthonyramdin1037 Absolutely irrelevant, fuel pressure? What’s the pump for? If anything it was quicker because it was hauling 100kg less weight, 7.5 to 100km/h reliably with a tune is nonsense, never happening.

    @fourocker

    Guy's the reason they're quicker when fuller is due to fuel temperature, up to 70% of the diesel at the injector pump is for cooling and lubrication, most of it is returned to the tank so when the tank is low the diesel doesn't get to cool properly before it's back to the pump and injectors ready to burn, hotter and less dense than when there's more in the tank to recirculate.

  • @praetorian3571

    How do you define heavy duty 4x4? Pajero is cable as other 4x4. I suggest you watch Geko Expeditions youtube channel their "ICELAND 4x4" tour and Raid "4x4 Roumanie" serious, they explore remote locations in Iceland and Romania by 4x4, in the convoy they have Land Cruiser 70 series, Land Rover, Nissan Patrol, Prado..etc and a Pajeor, you will see that easily the Pajeor follows the convoy and goes where the Land Cruiser and Patrol can go without any issue!!! . They cross dep rivers, mud, climb hills/mountains, forest..etc, this is what most of 98% of people will ever do when it comes to off-roading. This will prove that Pajero is very off-road capable and can compete with the so called "heavy duty" SUV's without breaking s sweat. At the end of the day It will all comes down to the driver skill and experience and not so much the car itself. Pajero in the right hand can take you were other 4x4's can go. The major benefit of Pajeor is monocoque chassis construction build, it will give you a car like handling on the road vs body on frame construction (Toyota, Nissan..etc) that at times can give you a bus ride handling or steering an oil tanker. I use to own Toyota 4x4 and now own a Pajero and I feel the difference on the road.
