The Rio still looks fresh to me

Absolutely love these little Rios. Especially the hatchback.

Me, before seeing this video. "Winding Road Magazine just does expensive cars." Me, after seeing this video. "Oh,...THAT'S why he usually does expensive cars!"

Crazy because I’m renting the sedan version right now… incredibly smooth and power is great for a 4 cyl. Can’t beat the price for brand new either

@@xnopyt13 I own a 2020 Honda Fit and regret my purchase. Poor soundproofing, unpleasant CVT transmission, limited driving position for tall people, ugly and overpriced.

@@xuser-l1h I would argue that all subcompacts have bad soundproofing, and most cars have cvt now sadly. I’m not tall so your points are likely valid, but I would say for the price you are getting a very reliable car with a huge cargo space, which is what I want.

When did you turn on the car the chime just reminds me of a Volkswagen

for 20k with a lot of standard features, this is why Kia and Hyundai are KILLING it. Lane Keep Assist/Highway Driving Assistant on a 20k car? Count me in. Take note big 3. Only thing they got going for them are Full Size SUV's and Trucks.

The Big Three aren't even competing in this segment any longer. Ford Fiesta and Focus are gone from USA. Chevy Spark and Sonic are also discontinued here. Chrysler...they haven't had anything in this class in many, many years.

I have the Hyundai Accent version of this car, but with a 6 speed stick. The stock tires were made for economy, not performance. Replacing them with Yokohama's on lightweight Mini rims really upped the steering and handling.

We have in Russia Kia Rio with 6th automatic transmission. Very good car. Only if fast turning wheel to he will turning hard( And so cars is excellent! You test drive is very crazy and this greate!

CVT with a fake shifting mode to make it feel like the DCT.

it’s honestly not that horrible. Yeah it’s cheap inside and outside but it’s built solidly and reliability and tech for what it is is really good

Yikes... that spirited driving section was kinda painful to watch lol. I know a great portion of that is down to the tires but the engine and transmission just did not sound happy at all either.

Honestly I feel the exact opposite. This is an amazing car for someone who treats their cars like they have a grudge against it. Slam on it, hurt it kick it when you are mad and a few years later you are out maybe what would be a down payment for a different car, and you can sell it for scrap. These things are too cheap to criticize lol

Quiet interior for such a small car

Previous model looked better in my opinion but lacked in driving dept. Still new Rio looks better than Yaris (aka Mazda 2 after Toyotas botched restyling ) but i would still buy Yaris as its not only fun but its one of the most reliable vehicles ever made period and it will hold value better which is super important in this segment

I have the previous gen Rio5 ex and I agree about the looks! The interior of the new gen is better of course!

Ive heard these cars can go 0-60 in around 8.5 seconds but judging by this video that number is more around 10 seconds.

This appears to be a good little car. I just don't know if I would want to pay $20K for it. It seems to have a $15k type vibe.

Still, i have a kia rio manual from 2015 and the car is solid, fun and cheap....wanna buy new but she is still fun, simple and cost nothing to own....they are great cars! Reminds me of a civic from the 90's....they are gonna hold their value in times!

@@theadvocate4698 From most of the listings I've seen, that is true. The value has stayed around the same price range for years. I have a 14 R10 manual and it's a joy. The plus side is most of the aftermarket for the FS Veloster will also work on the UB. Most of the parts are the same, you could do a 5lug wheelhub conversion if you really wanted. It is the Veloster if it weighed less. And doesn't come with racerboy tax.

@@wellYousee If my engine died, i would be tempted to try to swap the 1.6 turbo in....Maybe buying a veloster would be easier.... :)

@@theadvocate4698 Since you mention it, there's a couple of guys who've swapped the Veloster's 1.6T in the Rio and Accent. Transaxle, wiring harness, etc, one was done with the Veloster Turbo and the other with a Forte5 GT; it would be somewhat of a sleeper.
