2021 Jaguar XF P300 R-Dynamic Review: Proper in Almost Every Way

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Jaguar updated their midsize sedan this year, and the 2021 Jaguar XF is now $7,000 cheaper and serves as the brand's only sedan. The only engine offered in the 2021 XF is Jaguar's 2.0 liter Ingenium turbo four, making either 246 or 296 horsepower. Following Tyler's first drive of the 2021 #JaguarXF P300 R-Dynamic on spirited back roads, Jake spent a week with this one to see how it was in daily use. Is the 2021 XF P300 R-Dynamic a "proper Jag" - or is it missing that special something with just four cylinders working under the hood?

The noise from the AJ113 and 126 engines really set the XF apart from many of its competitors, and frankly was a big part of what made a "Jaguar" a "Jaguar" during their era. With the death of the XE I understand why they only went with the 2.0 for this generation XF, however that assumes that the XJ would still be an option. With that now gone from the market as well they no true flagship or performance sedan. They should at least give the option of the I6 as they do on the F-Pace. Alas Jaguar is a brand again trying to figure out what it wants to be when it grows up as It doesn't know if it wants to be Bentley, Lucid, AMG or Alfa. All they seem to be sure of is they don't want to be BMW.

It’s a luxury car, isn’t it? I agree, we need to bring V8s and V12s back, but not for 0-60 times. For comfort. Real luxury cars had big, smooth engines and ultra soft suspensions where you barely felt the road. If you want a sports car, get one. A luxury car should be soft. Save the rough ride for the XK.

I really appreciate your review as it's one of the "last gasp" sedans I'm considering, and test drove. What really put a smile on my face with this car, was using the dynamic handling mode on twisty roads which I have to drive on often, and it was surprising fun.

That British racing green color on the exterior looks terrific. So do you, with your lush blue eyes. If I may say so! All the best from The Netherlands.

3:10 Are those 19” wheels? They look more like the 20” option? Great review thanks.

Would be better as a wagon. With people in rear seats how bad was the squat?

Well, they made an XF Sportbrake and everyone said "omg it's so awesome" and then four people actually bought one. We agree that it's better as a wagon but not enough Americans are brave enough to buy 'em. Rear squat wasn't bad with back seat full. Nothing excessive.

I test drove one with 20" wheels the road tire noise in the cabin was appaling. Didn't buy it. I want a quiet cabin in a "luxury" car.

Luxury cars in general are dying. Everyone wants handling and stiffer suspensions. Luxury cars today are just big sports cars with leather seats. There are very few options for people with bad backs. Even the big luxury brands are targeting 16 year olds.

Rip the sedan age, shame it doesn't have the same presence as a xj, but I'll take a TLX or ES over this

Jaguar used to build high quality beautiful cars, but that is no longer the case. This Jaguar is a shadow of it's former glory. Gone are the twin chrome exhaust tips. The seats are boring and have no piping or quilting (even a Hyundai has better seats), instead it has cheap print on them 5:32. No fancy Jaguar wood on the dash and doors (it now looks fake). They forgot to integrate the center screen with the dash. They also forgot to finish the trunk with carpeting on top. The power train is a complete joke. The colors are bland, the exterior shape is nothing to write home about. Even the growler badge on the front looks like a cartoon that a five year old drew 2:36. Look at that crappy weird shape piece of plastic on the window of the rear passenger door. Jaguar was too lazy to design a larger piece of window glass so they slapped that crap there to fill the void. There is basically no compelling reason to buy this car. Better off buying a Genesis than this piece of junk.

@@hhhyt1331 it’s very true sadly. You’d know this if you had spent any time in the previous gen xf with the wonderful V8 or even the supercharged V6. This is almost as bland as a Lexus.
