My wife loves it. We ended up getting one for her. She chose the charcoal with glossy black trims. Overall I was impressed with how much room it has for a tinier suv.

It is what it is. A nice sporty looking version of the HR-V with a better suspension, wheels a tires with the cargo utility in a small but roomy package. Best value trim level. My only real gripes would be more power, like from a 2.0L N/A Civic engine, and better stereo, but that can be done aftermarket easily with enough $ for good sorakers, amps, subwoofer, and DSP processor using the factory OEM stereo deck.

It seems to be basically a carryover from the 2019 and 2020 year models as you stated. For 2021, they have new blacked out wheels, and may have dropped the keyless ignition and Honda Sense if the Sport Trim had it previously. I believe it lists for $23 to $25 or less for the FWD model. The AWD version is much more expensive, and about 1 second slower than the FWD in acceleration from 0 to 60 mph and 1/4 runs.

  • @jerbsherb4391

Honda really made this model to kill the fit. Literally has everything that car has but bigger. My biggest issue with this car is the power delivery. I feel like the competitors offer you more options under the hood compared to this. If Honda keeps sitting on it's brand name without much innovation, someone else can and will steal the mantle from them.

This car has a design flaw. I bought a 2021 HRV on March1, 2021 and noticed an irritating piercing whistling noise on my way home when I cracked open any front window or moonroof. I brought it back to Huntington Honda twice and they said they test drove 2 other new HRVs and they made the same horrible noise. So I'm basically told this is normal on all HRVs. I wonder if Honda has a design flaw or whether Huntington Honda is sitting on a bad batch?

The fact that Honda refuses to give Apple Carplay and Android Auto in the base LX trim (whether it's for the Civic or HR-V) is a big reason not to buy Honda. Apple Carplay and Android Auto makes life so much easier with navigation, music etc. that it should be standard.

If you have the Sport trim, like the Civic Sport, the suspension is going to be stiffer for better handling compared to the more comfort oriented trims. I prefer fsctory sport suspensions, and never thought it was too stiff. The more performance oriented modrls like the Civic Si or Type R is expectedly and understandably much stiffer.

I believe it's called the Vezel? elsewhere, and should be a hybrid with the redesigned 2022 model on some videos, but unsure if it will be here in the US for the 2022 model year. The present model is configured differently than the US, tailored to their target consumer bases there. In Germany, the Sport is the top trim, has the Honda Civic Sport 1.5L GDI Turbo, dual exhaust, LED IP, leather seats, more Acura like taillights, and other features?, including the CD player without the physical volume knob. The CD player was only offered on certain higher trims, possibly only the the top Touring model. Many things mentioned thst is dhoikd have, like the Civic Sport was not included for the price point, like the turn signal lights in the outside rear view mirrors, and other features to keep the price down. Other than wishing it had the N/A 2 engine, I prefer it without the keyless ignition, Honda Sense package, dual zone automatic A/C, power seats, anslong instrument panel guages, etc., as it keeps cost down and least thing yo break and cost a lot for parts and repairs.

Honda should have put a turbo in the higher trims. It's ridiculous to pay almost 30K out the door (including sales tax and fees) for the 2021 HR-V EX-L trim and have such an underpowered engine plus CVT.

The 180 Watt stereo from the EX-L should be standard like in the Civic Sport Sedan at the same price. Other than that, a great compact SUV for the price. It looks killer in the Aegean Blue Metallic like this one. I plan to get a Civic Sport Sedan in the same color, but tempted to get this for the cargo utility, even with 30 less HP, but it would be a given for a second car to the Civic Sport.

@Zenon Antruzinon In sport trim, it is very well equipped for the price, and what it can do. The only things I really don't like is that it doesn't have more power, like the 2.0L non turbo engine from the Civics, and doesn't have the 180 watt stereo.

Yup the turbo would be burning out about the same time as the CVT fries itself as well which is right after the warranty expires at which point the sum of repair costs will exceed the value of the car which will make it a throw away vehicle.

@@kevinrtres That engine would be the perfect power and being reliable without the turbo and GDI related problems, which make the Civic Sport Sedan and Corolla SE/XSE so good for those that like decent performance for everyday driving. But being higher than a Civic, I considered that there be legitimate engineering factors involved with the HR-V and other trucks and SUVs for safety for the majority of drivers, when can result in potential legal liability issues if they become unsafe turning at speed with much more power as they configure them from the factory. The HR-V sport, like any other sport trim with appearance pieces and improved suspension and brakes is what it is, and not what many expect them to be. There are reasons they are made that way, from corporate decisions, financial, safety, and liability standpoint as I mentioned. It's not a Civic Sport Sedan, but looks the part, and has the cargo utility and somewhat similar handling suspension parameters. Some of these internet keyboard racers don't realize all the things involved. I think the 168? HP would be great in this HR-V Sport, as long as you drive responsibly, especially in turns. It would increase justification for getting this instead of the Civic Sport, because I really could make use of the versatile cargo utility configurations. But the upcoming 2022 Civic makes it harder to go for this.
