It’s a very good bike. Likely the most underrated that Harley Davidson makes. I’ve got one and it was easy to customize the obvious things like the bars, taller windshield, the slip on muffler, etc. Even the seat needed improvement for longer runs. It handles better than any other Harleys I’ve ridden over the years.

@@francescogiorgiannimetaldr9189 I’ve got 9” mini ape type on mine! I’ve got screaming Eagle cables but I’d go with stainless braided cables next time. Cable length really depends how big of an ape bar set up you’re installing. And what you can fish inside the bars (electric cable).

I really like that “Mantis” wheel. I think it’s very futuristic and unique. And I like the lower weight, and lack of a huge fairing with sound system, glove box, etc. It’s just not necessary. It has more of that naked bike look, and give the feel of being in the great outdoors, instead of being in a small car with two wheels.

Great review! I absolutely love this bike and am awaiting delivery of my new one in vivid black deluxe. I’m 5’ 9” tall with a 31” inseam and find the bike comfortable, though I may fit some floor boards to stop my heels from scraping in the tighter corners! I’m trading my Low Rider which has a Harley sport windshield and, you’re right, the SG fairing is not that good compared to that. However, there are a number of aftermarket solutions available plus a taller screen from Harley. I’d also recommend a radiator guard, available from an Australian company, which protects against stones and debris thrown up by the front wheel. I have one on the LR and have ordered one for the SG. Keep up the good work!

The fairing is low & small. Gustafson dark tint 15” vented made it work. Sounds tall but it’s not as it only comes to the bottom of my chin. HD Streetslamer or other taller T bars. HD Mustache or Bung King crash bar. The Mustache has covers for cold weather or rain riding. I did the stage 3 big bore short stroke 114 kit at bike purchase for 20% off all parts & no out-of-pocket. Added S&S Streetmaster 2-1 compliant exhaust, 64 TB & intake, extreme heavy breather AC plus SE tuner to retain MoCo warranty. Bike made 116 HP 116 TQ. 25 months 20k miles later zero issues. Love the bike, saddlebags ABS modern wheels inverted forks cruise & USB port all make it nicer than the other softails.

Love my SG! Bought it for the versatility. Bags on, bags off. Fairing on, fairing off. Bike looks badass when both are off. Cruising or touring. The bike is awesome. But, it will require some additional mods, particularly for comfort. I’m a 6 footer, but the bars are still a stretch making u-turns cumbersome. Getting ready to put pullback risers on. And the seat is torture, not much better than my first bike, the Iron 1200. The Saddleman Explorer fixed that. Windshield doesn’t do much, but does put the wind on my neck instead of my head, so no buffeting. The mantis rims are badass. Sad to see this bike getting phased out, so I’ll definitely be hanging onto it.

Short answer: if it looks like the picture in your video, no. I seriously looked at the Low Rider S and the SG, but was never really sold on the look of the Low Rider S. When I walked into the showroom last January and they had the new SG’s in there (before the official announcement), one in each color, and with painted bags, I was hooked. I’m baffled as to why Harley would dump it. I rarely see them in showrooms, the salesmen tell me they are out the door as quickly as they come in (but they are salesmen, so 😂), and it’s supposedly an extremely popular bike in Europe and Australia. The bike has a huge following on FB. SG owners love these bikes, me included. I don’t see myself ever selling it. I just wish after market stuff was more readily available. Guess it’s about to get worse. 😳 There is a market for a tweener (part touring, part cruiser) bike like this, so hopefully Harley at least recognized that.

@@throttleblip9854 I have seen several of those that were great. FXRT, stage 2 (some stage 3) new seat, custom dyanims turn signals from and rear, and usually drag bars with a riser. That is the plan for mine. However if I had a 2021 I would probably go with a kahuna collection including heated grips because it matches the tank paint and it's cold enough for heated grips more than half the year here.

They don't make bikes like this anymore, they all look the same and all blacked out. I'm sick of all black, I like a good mix of black and chrome like the Sport Glide, older Low Rider and Softail Deluxe. I want a Stock Sport Glide so bad but most I find have been "blacked out" and the ones that are close to stock have more miles than im looking for. I wanna buy new but don't like the new lineup at all besides the Breakout 117 but I want something that can do it all like the Sport Glide although the Breakout can too but it's alot more niche.

I don’t mind the wheels they seam to fit the bike, but the bags uuggg Harley dropped the ball there just like the heritage bags they just don’t look right but that’s just my opinion.. I like the bags on the touring bikes the best.

That depends on your comfort level on a bike. If you've ridden dirt bikes for example and did okay on those, I'd say yes. If its your first experience with a bike, I'd get more of an entry level bike.

Why does nobody mention the poor idle with high fluctuations. That sucks, its the reason why i thinking of selling my flsb again. When i stand at a traffic lightni always fear that the engine dies. Or ist it maybe a european „feature“?
