This is one of the best car reviews I've ever seen. I loved the discussions of inner beauty and Chris Pratt tying into the Roma, marvelously entertaining and sharp. I have tremendous respect for the unprecedented honesty and due diligence you guys display in your videos, even in spite of direct sponsorship/scrutiny from one of the most high-profile supercar brands of all time. Cinematography and editing team is on point as well, keep up the phenomeal work guys.

I typically don't watch reviews of super cars but I'm very glad I watched this. James is a very talented journalist and just hearing him put in to words everything the car stands for was nice to listen to. This is by far one of their best reviews on the channel.

Terrible terrible ideas. I hope that they at least fix these issues on the second generation and don't double down on the touch stuff, but I see that as unlikely. The screen craze isn't dying down anytime soon

I don't know why so many OEMs feel the need to reinvent the wheel with controls. I've never seen someone look at a sea of piano black, haptic feedback buttons and say it's brilliant. Everyone wants physical controls and volume and tuning knobs.

Same. But I have seen one without it, so think it's an option? The off center camera in the Bentley Continental GT bothered me too, because I have an obsession with symmetry. However I now have seen a couple of them without it and they look gorgeous, its just an option you can uncheck I guess. But because of that the Aston Martin DB11 is the most beautiful GT in my opinion, the DBS and 812 also look great.

This was the best review of this car I have seen. I did not understand the Chris Pratt analogy at the beginning but it made sense three minutes in. No other automotive journalists have reviewed the details like y’all have. This was awesome.

I mean they only mentioned the controls and interface being garbage, which I agree but the driving and sound and looks were all good, to me buying a car like this is definitely more about the drive that the infotainment screens, and it fills that gap like they say, it still feels like a Ferrari

Best automotive content in media today. That’s it. Unbiased, impartial, honest, witty, and still informative (all while beautifully presented/shot and written). Literally the only KZread channel that I have notifications for new videos. Keep crushing it guys. And hats off to the production crew, videographers, editors, etc. - so good.

the end, as the car rolls backwards in 1st, whether a setup or not, is classic "the last time i was in first, the car went forward....." roll credits, well done!

I work at a Audi/Porsche/Ferrari detailing place and there seems to always be a Roma in our shop so I've gotten a good look at them. They are insanely beautiful cars and one of my favorites. Their purpose is to be more of a luxury car than a sports car and yet they absolutely still feel special :)

James, at 29 as well, I feel so much better knowing i'm not the only anatomically broken one. Thank you for sharing in my back problems for no good reason at all.

These guys have completely mastered the OG Top Gear car review style, from presentation of the car to the inflection in their tone. Well done, boys. Second to none but the OG TG crew.

Keep the great content coming guys. I feel like savagegeese and throttle house are the only channels that give interesting AND objective content

Those issues you stated in the beginning of the video are absolutely a deal breaker for me. To many touch screens, not enough physical buttons, delayed inputs which would drive me crazy. That is more important because 99% of the time you are going 40mph in traffic dealing with the interior and tech more than going fast.

I am 100% with you on that. Unfortunately, the reality is that most Ferraris will spend 99% of their life in a garage occasionally looked at, and not driven, so Ferrari can get away with this nonsense. I can't imagine what the people at Ferrari were thinking with those laggy capacitive buttons though. All the effort that goes into the design, and performance, to be hand built in Italy but ruined by cheap things that and other car in the world can get right.

Hi, mine is a BMW 840. Obviously not in the same horsepower and exotic league. HOWEVER, lots of fun and the interior works! Easy and comprehensive.it is a car, not a museum piece. I preferred the ferraris of old, simple fun sportscars

dude, my moms 8 year old ford explorer's screen has a quicker response than this brand new, 300k ferrari. That's absurd that they got it this wrong. I can only hope that this press car was a preproduction model or something because some of those interior issues are inexcusable

It’s hard to understand how such an expensive and beautiful car can be packed with crap tech and a borderline dangerous user interface. Why car designers can’t agree on a minimum standard of tech interface requirements like a touch screen and haptic feedback if buttons aren’t being used, is also a mystery to me. Put some actual buyers in you development vehicles and listen to what they have to say. $5,000 for buggy Apple Car Play?!?! Ya, it better be a great driving car for the money because that’s a TON of money.

That's what I was thinking. But the f type is still my favorite of the two.

This review had this special touch to it, that i get from some of the top gear rewiews. Just amazing.

TH is a great show, one of the very best! But as far as the Roma goes, I thought it was great! I had no trouble learning the haptic controls, didn't notice any glare from the chrome center console, had no trouble with the trans! It's quick! And it's freeking beautiful!

The writing quality of these reviews is giving me OG Top Gear vibes. You guys are obviously your own style of humor and 15 years more modern, but the start to finish storytelling gives me all those same vibes.

The Roma is undoubtedly beautiful and passionate and fast, but that infotainment/UI system feels like some wild concept car experiment that needed more fine tuning and user testing before hitting production.

Even if it's your last press ferrary it's still worth of your fair video.

I HATE the idea of those capacitive switches. Too damn gimmicky.

Even though it is expensive, Porsche mass produces their cars so they have a lot of feedbacks from their customers to correct and improve their cars whereas Ferrari is a very niche brand and most of their customers probably doesn't drive their cars that much (or probably don't care for the maintenance cost because of the $$$), so way less feedbacks for improvement

Absolute amateur hour, Ferrari. For a manufacturer that bases their brand on bringing overall automotive brilliance, they should know that in 2021 you can't get by with such glaring flaws that affect the driving experience to such a degree. It's not enough to just have a world-class engine and design and hasn't been for nearly 20 years. If $35k vehicles can get some of these things right without effort, it's inexcusable for a $300k car to miss such a simple target.

Very well written review, I appreciate the effort and the production behind it. I honestly refuse to believe that the infotainment lag is so bad... I mean it is laughable for a 300,000 car. Maybe it was a UI bug, something that a firmware update has solved? It just cant be like this.

Audi comes the closest in the A6 and larger cars, but even they rely on physical buttons for the steering wheel inputs. Everybody else? Abject failure.

BMW does them very good, all the buttons around the shifter on the x5/x6/x7 are capacitive with some haptic feedback. They are quite good.

I’d take the 911. This car looks amazing but those issues would be tough to swallow for 300k.

Porsche is bankrupt in design. The top 911 is such a boring car compare to any Ferrari. I had 911 carrera and now I have Ferrari Roma and believe me 911 doesn’t come not even 5% close!

Great looking car for ordinary people, as a petrolhead, I still maintain that the Ferrari F12 is the best looking GT from Maranello ...... rumor has it that James has now passed Mexico rolling backwards.

The f12 doesn't work for some people but it will resist time like nothing else, stunning and gorgeous

You guys are one of the biggest and arguably one of the best car review channel on KZread, I hardly doubt that even with the amount of criticism you guys gave out, that Ferrari won’t send you another vehicle.

One minute into the 'from the drivers seat from Thomas'...I was put off by a Roma. But you Gents Rock...Press on with Passion and Humor. Love love the channel!!

I saw one in person a couple of days ago and I was floored by how pretty it was.

You guys make the best quality car channel out there, and keeps on developing the concept. Looking forward to every new episode and there are several that I re-visit again and again. Great work guys! 🙏 Oh, and such a beautiful car... ♥️😊

The Ferrari Roma is indeed a beautiful car when you look at it from the outside. But I must admit I absolutely align with your analogy here, a beautiful empty shell is not at all a desirable thing, well maybe for the first few days, but the feeling of the new wears pretty fast for me. I am also the kind of person who has become extremely irritated by unreliable touch screens and laggy garbage futuristic looking tech in cars since 2015. I'm also Canadian so I know exactly what it means to wait for a touch screen to wake up in the winter to turn on heated seats and ajust the interior temp. Since price cannot be ignored, I would defintely prefer buying a 911 Turbo S fully specced and a Cayenne GTS for 330'000$. Anyway, that's a personal opinion of course, all I could say regarding this masterpiece video of yours is I truly appreciate your depth and impressive honesty, that reinforces why Throttle House is my number 1 and absolute favorite car channel ever. Respect is earned, and you earned every bit of it. Sincerely thank you Thomas and James for your great work that you do.

Agreed. The Roma is more of an instant eye-catcher, but I suspect after driving this car a few times, the allure wears off fast. The interior won't age very well either. Fully spec'd Turbo S over this anyday.

@@trcs3079 2018 STi for the winter, 2017 Cayman S for summer and 2019 RR Evoque for the wife. Not the nicest cars in the neighbourhood of course but as for my STi this is probably curiously the best car I have ever bought. Solid, reliable, fun, manual, and I never seen a car keep its value like this. Incredible.

@Ragib Thanks for your comment mate. I had the opportunity to briefly (45 minutes) test drive a Roma 3 weeks ago. It was fun. But the interior was every bit as bad as I expected to be. I don't know if I could still call it an empty shell though, but it's definitely not a car I consider as great. Not even good, honestly. Obviously this comes down to personal preferences/choices so it has to be taken with a grain of salt, but I am really more into simplicity and reliability than this "too much tech bells and whistles" approach. If I was 30 years younger I would probably find it flashy like an ignorant, but at this price point there's not much mature adults who would purchase this thing. Even at 40K I would not even buy it, honestly. Sorry for being rather negative about this car anyway, but that's my opinion.

Chris Pratt is the Mazda Miata of actors Started out unassuming and approachable and becomes incrementally more capable over time

Counter point: Chris Pratt is like the Porsche 911 going up the range. He was a base 911 Carrera, pretty good, but has it's flaws. Then became the Carrera S, then GT3, then GT3 RS. I think the Miata changed the least. It only got modernized. It's still a low hp, very fun to drive small roadster.
