I bought the 2020 Spark for my wife's 42nd anniversary she loves the car 🚗
I bought the 2020 LS Spark with zero options for $11,400 and LOVE IT. Exactly as the reviewer said, I was looking at buying a used car for my everyday simple commuting and buying this brand new Spark made way more sense than buying a 60000-100000k car for more money.

@@eltonmurillo1909 The ride is actually quite comfortable. I own a Cadillac and a Mercedes also, of course it's not that good, but I have owned a lot of economy cars in my life so comparing to that, it's better than any of those I have owned. As for power, it has 90 hp so it's adequate for it's size. I own the 5 speed so I think it has a little more than what the automatic would have. The tires will spin easily on take off lol, so it's not bad. I have owned this car for 5 months now, I love it, great and fun little car. Crazy fuel economy, I have gotten 4.9 lt/100 on the highway, driving 100 kph. My average city/highway is 5.8 lt/100.

I literally bought one 10 days ago, I was in the market for a fuel efficient and affordable car with the rapid rise in gas prices, I had a lot of cars I test drove, and I had my reservations until I test drove it. And after test driving I was sold. I bought the LT, free life time oil changes, 10 yr 200,000 mile GAP Warranty (this cover repairs of the engine, transmission and all electrical components), no regrets, it drives really well and much more space than it appears.

I’ll be honest I’m In love with this car
I got one just for the manual transmission. I have good memories of my first sporty ride, a 1983 VW Rabbit GTi. This is a much better car - better body rigidity, more supple yet firm suspension, better tires (yes, better than the '83 Pirelli P6's), more (actual) horsepower, much better gas mileage (44.5 MPG mostly highway vs 28 MPG or so with the '83 GTi). Much quieter. To get the 5 speed I went with the LS which mean simpler windows and mirrors. The only problem? The huge growth in size of other vehicles on the road. In 1983 people were mostly in sedans and the sedans were pretty compact (look at a 1983 Accord or Camry back then). Nowadays everything is humongous in comparison. Fortunately, 10 airbags and most accidents are single vehicle accidents, and the body is much stronger.

I miss having more of a selection in small affordable cars. I had a 1995 Pontiac Firefly 1.3 liter 4 cylinder until 2008 when it was replace with a Pontiac Wave. I love small hatchbacks for city driving. A co-worker just bought a Spark exactly like this one in same color as well. He traded a 2007 Chevy Cobalt in for it and so far he LOVES it. Sounds like driving on the highways is not a problem with your car. I was wondering if driving from Mississippi to Georgia would be hard on the driver and passengers’ back/body. I am glad to know you are doing just fine driving hundreds of miles on the highway. If it is ok, what type of warranty on the vehicle such as mileage and years and anything else you do not mind discussing. Thanks for reading my comments. I hope to hear from you soon. I am 64. My last vehicle was a manual 2003 Saturn Vue. My husband had a stroke and made the mistake of messing up the clutch. The dealers did not repair clutches for that year and trying to find mechanics to do it was not worth spending around $3000.00 for my old vehicle. Whatever else could have gone wrong was just more money. Buying new was my final decision. I am still looking and decided to come on KZread for real owners. Smiles

That beautiful Gmc Brigadier in the back at the beginning!!
Let's be honest.... The Spark is popular with car-buyers in America because for many of us, car prices have gotten insane! And, so have fuel prices at $5.oo a gallon. A few short years ago, a very intelligent Insider once said that a brand could build the greatest family car for the middle-class that the world has ever seen. If it costs $45K, that brand has failed. That was a few short years ago. Look at car prices now. Look at the ridiculously expensive features car brands are stuffing into their offerings as standard, rather than as options. The Spark is the right car for the times. Inexpensive to buy, compared to other cars out there now. Easy to insure. Easy to get financing. Great gas mileage. Plenty of room for a daily commuter for one person. New family with very young children? It can work for that. If the economy wasn't terrible; the Spark wouldn't be as popular as it is. I do like the exterior styling, and the center stack looks very stylish. I'm seriously considering this as my next vehicle in the very near future.

Hey Randy outside of diesel Trucks nearly everyone uses a cast steel lower block with an Alluminum top end or a Full Alluminum engine. The benifits of the first is cost as cast steel is inexpensive however they are heavier and steel holds onto heat longer than Alluminum. So obiously the benifits of a Full Alluminum engine is its lighter in the vehicle and it disapates heat better which usually increases engine efficienty and longevity. So yes they hold up great!

Driving a 2013 Spark and the Air Condition is not good. In AZ it's hot in the Summer and get it just to 79 inside if at all. Repairs on the AC already wasted 1 Grand over the years. Did Chevy fix the AC issues? I notice the new Sparks are smaller than the older Sparks like mine. For instance mine has cupholders left drivers door and right passenger door. I sat in a 2019 Spark a while back and it was noticable smaller and tighter. Also in 2021 power windows is a must and cruise control too. My 2013 has at least power windows. I like the miles per gallon on this car alot. Question for the next Spark is it possible to apply heat control film to the windows so that less heat enter the inside cabin?

Hey Han Soll, the old generation Spark your driving vs the re-design that happened in 2015 is the same size vehicle with slightly more storage than yours. In 2018 the Spark received a re-fresh and next year 2022 we likely to see a whole new generation Spark. The Spark is sold all over the world and the A/C does work and yes you can add tint to your windows of yours and the current generation which I would recommend you add unless you are doing tons of night time driving as this does reduce your visibility.

3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Spark is feels more premium than mirage
👍👍👍
Good looking subcompact but I went with the Mirage and my wife did too. Spark has some advantages though, for one, a much bigger dealer network and much cheaper parts too. Mitsu part prices are insane and the aftermarket scene is small to avoid OEM. Interior is nicer than my Mirage but the seats felt just mediocre in both cars. Spark has better speed and suspension too. Pros for the Mirage include better long term reliability. Data shows from owners, that the JATCO CVT7, a transmission shared by both the Spark and the Mirage, seem to hold up better over time in a Mirage. This is most likely due to the Mirage only having 74lbs of torque. Torque is the CVT killer in my opinion, but if you get a manual Spark, this is a non-issue. The Mirage also gets better gas mileage, has more cargo and passenger volume room. You can uber in a Mirage, but not in a Spark. Mitsubishi warranty is much longer. Rear passenger legroom in a Spark, is almost none existent unless it's a child. In the Mirage it's a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. The Spark rear back bench fold down set up is kinda janky too. You to flip that bottom bench out, take out the headrests, and then even still doesn't fold as flat as it does in a Mirage. If your over 6ft tall in the driver seat the Spark back bench even with all the prep work done, doesn't fold past a 130 degrees, either. The back bench in a Mirage folds down easily even with the front seats scooted the farthest back and doesn't require you remove the head rests either.

From what I gathered online spark is much more reliable than mirage. Why is mirage being dogged online as the worst car?

How is this car for winter driving :)

Hey Kat! We have two for service loaners here in Alberta and we put winter tires on them and they are great! They have nearly 5 inces of overall ground clearance which is close to the clearance of most small SUV's so its not plowing snow like many cars.

@@WesternGMDrumheller Right and GM had it redesigned by Opel to optimize this small car, as Germany has to more experience with small cars. Also, the GM South Korea plant has been producing this consistently for a number of years.
Does it use less gas than a regular size car?
@WesternGMDrumheller

That's the goal. Most similar or slightly larger cars have turbos and the more the turbos kick in the more fuel you use so yes this is among the best on fuel.

@@WesternGMDrumheller Thank you!!
"60% of spark owners never own a GM before". Sorry that statement can be treated similar to glass half full or empty. For me, a glass half empty guy, it means only 40% of owners trust the brand enough to buy spark as their second or third GM vehicle. But I get what you are selling. Korean cars, including Spark, have been improved in terms of quality and reliability over the years. That part is fact.

Hey Teetee, many automakers have a vehicle that helps with getting them NEW customers ie customers who have never been to the brand before. In GM Land due to its price point and reliability the SPARK has been a "winner winner Chicken Dinner" for GM. Similar examples from other brands would when the FORD Edge launched 30% of the buyers of that vehicle never owned a Ford before. When NISSAN launched the Murano 40% of the buyers never owned a Nissan before. Numbers this high are very RARE in the Car Business and Automakers would kill to have success like this on every Model of vehicle because without gaining new customers you can't grow. Appreciate the comment, cheers!
How can I get this for 10k if I live in US

Buy a one year off lease with low kms they sell for 10k up here or buy a Brand New 2022 LS Manual Transmission for 14k!

Kev let's talk Canadian pricing here you're comparing a $18k Canadian car to a $35k Canadian SUV...I would expect your SUV to be A LOT more vehicle but to say you hate the Spark I think you need to reevaluate the scale you're measuring it against. Comparing it to other 18k vehicles I'm confident it would be at the top of your list my friend, cheers!
