2021 Airstream Basecamp 20X | Full Service Walk Through

You will fall in love with this travel trailer that can sleep four people each night. The bench seating in the back can convert to a half bed on one side, a full bed that spans that back of the unit, or split seating seating and sleeping space for whatever arrangement you are needing. You can clean up each day in the convenient wet bath, and prepare all your meals on the two burner stove. This model also includes a front convertible dinette that easily transforms into a 43" x 78" sleeping or lounging space so you can read a book on those rainy days.
The Basecamp by Airstream is tough enough to go anywhere for your active lifestyle, yet includes all the comfortable features you don't want to leave home without. Each model features a semi-monocoque aluminum superstructure, fluorocarbon treated UV protected aluminum exterior, and a city water inlet with water pressure regulator. It's easily towable and able to tackle more types of road conditions giving you years of adventure with the Goodyear tires, the Nev-R-Adjust brakes, and the torsion axle suspension. You will stay clean no matter how dirty you get with the interior and exterior showers too. You can also travel anytime of the year thanks to the thermal barrier protection between the interior and exterior. So if you are looking for a launch pad for your extreme lifestyle, choose a Basecamp today!

    If I buy an airstream over the next few years, it will be from the dealership that employs/partners with Chris -- even if I have to drive cross-country to pick it up. Chris does an amazing job showcasing the equipment and describing the little details that matter.

    Great Video! Nicely done walk-through! The only thing I see as a bummer is the way the small tables are stored in the bungee cords. If they had drilled a hole into the wood, they could have been stored with the mount not facing out and would have offered a more secure way to hold them in with the addition of the bungee cords, of course.

Others have too many closes up and don't really give you good camera angel to provide you with an actual perspective of the unit... AGM batteries? What year is this? RV’s are going lithium. Most RVers are now very aware of the advantages. Yes they are three times the cost but four to six times the life, twice the performance, half the weight and can’t be overly discharged shortening the life. It should be kept within the insulated space because it won’t charge at low temperatures(

Taking hot liquids out of the microwave while on a step stool would not be a safe option. The would need to move the microwave below the refrigerator or move both refrigerator and microwave down so she could access them safely.

    The refrigerator doesn't work on propane any longer? So, I have to use a generator to operate it for multi-day trips? I would guess that solar wouldn't guarantee keeping the battery charged enough for the frig and other things. This is quite limiting for a boondocker; unless I am missing something.

  • @scottstewart5784

    the answer is you have to upgrade the solar and the batteries and get an inverter

  • @SkypowerwithKarl

    @SkypowerwithKarl

    3 жыл бұрын

    It’s only a 12 volt. So boondocking for more than three or four days is out. Even less if you have to use the heater (12 volt fan). At that point you would have 100% depth of discharged the AGMs and further deteriorated thier life expectancy. I have no idea why they didn’t install a 3 way. To save money, reliability/warranty, liability. But not for the customer. If possible I’d delete the fridge, enlarge next size up for a 3 way. I’d also loose the AGMs and go with 4 lithium’s ending up with the same weight but 4 times the capacity. Yeah, I know $4k +$1200 inverter/charger. But now you’re talking boondocking. Honda runtime only four hours every week. And that’s with coffee and TV!

  • @SkypowerwithKarl

    @Diggy d I build my own energy systems. It’s going to be extremely expensive. I predict that batteries + BMS and solar panels are going to be scarce because of China and anticipated embargo. If it wasn’t made there than the components came from there. So if you’re thinking of boondocking or going off grid and you need these things, (or anything else from China) get them ordered by the first week of January.

No automatic fans. No room in the wet bath, and a sorry window curtain. If you're going to spend this much money, go get a Black Series HQ. Grizz Lady - Not from my experience. - Edit: You made me do homework. 😡 The most, absolutely best, small compressor refrigerators use 100w, much more when the compressor is running. So assuming the actual average power consumption of the fridge is 100W. This is a guess based on assumptions. 50 Ah battery is 600 Wh, but you are draining it faster than C/20, so a rough estimate is approximately 4 hours. To run it a weekend on batteries you would need a pallet full of them. Edit 2, Additionally Airstreams have a 1000w inverter so... so you will never be able to run the microwave without being connected to power.

    I have a 2018 Basecamp. The fridge runs off either propane or shore power. I can stay out for days.

    I really love the base camp but it’s not much of a base camp if you NEED 110 to operate the fridge and ac. Why not have a small on board generator to run the “essentials”?

    I believe the fridge is 12v and will run off battery/solar. AC is always run off hookups or generators.
