Dirt Bike Magazine's 2021 250 Shootout is finally here. We waited to get all 7 motorcycles and make this a complete shootout. With the Supercross/GNCC/Worcs seasons going on simultaneously it took some time to complete the process. We appreciate those who hung out and waited for the results! Normal shootouts are hard. This one was ridiculous. We’ve never had a field of bikes that was so deep and strong. The problem isn’t that we have so many bikes that could win; it is that there are so many that should win. But, they aren’t all the same. Each is designed to appeal to a slightly different rider, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. To explore this, we took them to a number of different tracks. After riding them with stock tires, we installed Dunlop MX33s on all seven bikes, and eventually the differences began to reveal themselves. We’ve done a lot of shootouts over the years at Dirt Bike, but we have to confess, coming up with a winner in this group was one of the toughest jobs we’ve ever faced. Not only are there seven bikes, but three of them have the same motor and six of them make nearly the same peak power. When we looked at it objectively, though, we had to admit that one bike had universal appeal to riders of all skill levels.

I've always been a Kawasaki or Suzuki guy. Regardless of what anyone says about the Suzuki, it's a really good bike. Get the suspension re-valved for your weight and get an exhaust. There's just something about the way a Suzuki's feels, it's instantly comfortable for any rider. Plus, yellow looks damn good.

Agreed. I ride a Kawasaki but my second choice has always been Suzuki. Underrated.

Just remember, these results are for the public, pro racers are all going to have very competitive bikes
Holy smokes that Suzuki makes a TON of torque. Who needs a diesel truck when your dirtbike makes 219 ft-lb??? lol

I wish Suzuki would focus more on racing, would love to see them actually compete with the other brands on and off track
Been a fan and owner of Husky and now TM Racing. Like the changes Husky made for 2021. Great Review of some nice rides!
40 years of shootouts. What a legend DBM. I think you should add the Chinese hard core MX bikes. They're really close to the original Japanese models.

Honda for me
What constitutes a tall/short rider or a heavy/light rider? I'm 6ft tall, and about 195lbs with riding gear on. Where do I sit in there?

The Gas Gas is a mystery to me...... $8000+ and no electronic engine my power settings, plus it is admittedly down on power for real racing when even the Suzuki has 3 power control settings in the high $7000's??

Suzuki comes with a power tuner you can buy for your phone, similar to Yamaha now

ktm present 2022 model today,husqy and honda 450 last week🙄🤔
A couple of tweaks and the Honda is easily the best bike for me

The shorter seat is better. Probably tried helping other brands compete
Man Suzuki use to kill it! Back when they had solid amatuer team Davi Millsaps, Nico Izzi, Josh Lictle, Eli Tomac, Ian Trettel, Jason Anderson. Pro's they had Ricky, TP 199, and more. It literally blows my mind they're almost irrelavent in the sport. You got a select few that use to love the brand and they try to tell you " They're still worth it" but in reality they are not. I don't care if the bike is $500 cheaper. By the time you do suspension and a pipe most of these stock models are still better. So you're better off spending the extra pennies just to get a different bike. Whoever is running Suzuki needs to retire and put someone in there that will make the brand grow and reclaim its good name back in racing. STEP IT UP SUZUKI!!

Honda gets bashed for everything motor-vehicle related, yet their products are always some of the most reliable pieces of machinery on the market. This is coming from a long time ktm rider.

@@guesswhat5811 I’ve always had reliability issues with Honda. Owned 2 strokes and 4 strokes but when there wasn’t any problems I preferred it more as a fun bike more than a serious bike

Why would they weigh the bikes without fuel? After watching a few shootouts on this channel i’m seeing some mental blunders that make absolutely no sense. I would not trust the judgement of these clowns when choosing a bike.

I don't like saying this but Yamaha are way to overrated. And my old yz250f I sold beacuse I didn't like the feal of it. Now I'm with Suzuki
