20200425 Review Cole & Mason Salt & Pepper Grinder
A simple little review of a nice Salt & Pepper shaker set from Cole & Mason. I'm not really angry, just annoyed by how little salt & pepper they give you :) Also, you refill them by pulling the tops off.

Haha dawggg I thought I was the only one that noticed it haha
I believe most people wouldn’t use the pepper that comes with the mill. Me included. I would empty it and refill with my own ‘fresh’ pepper. I thought your early rant was a bit dramatic my friend ha ha! Thanks for a good vid.
Hey Johnny, just wanted to say congrats on saving that girl who was stuck in the washing machine.
Pepper corns not sealed in a food grade container could be stale and might even have taken on warehouse flavor if they've been stored in the factory warehouse or store shelves/warehouse long enough. I always toss the pepper corns to the trash and put fresh in from the grocery store when getting a new mill.

And, the longer it been setting, the worse it clogs the gears. Hard to believe that anyone other than a novice would actually _want_ his or her new pepper mill to arrive with stale pepper corns enmeshed in the works!

And they only put enough in for factory testing.
I had the same reaction when I opened the package - not a huge deal, but annoying that I just spent a lot of money on grinders, and yet the manufacturer couldn't supply full shakers? Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. 😆
Love it. Now I'll see if I also receive them with half pepper and salt.
I'd prefer they didn't come with anything in them and cost a few cents less. At least then I can get the salt and pepper I want.
I did like the review of how they performed at least!
Brought three pepper grinders, emptied peppercorns into one, then refilled one with Himalayan pink salt and the second with rock salt, all three have 6 grind settings, winner chicken dinner 🥘
I really don't feel that the salt and pepper is a big deal, a kettle doesn't come with water in it?

kettle also doesn't come half full of water, does it? if they're gonna fill the things then they should fill em all the way.
I can see why they aren't full: A) if they sit too long on the shelf the pepper wouldn't be good B) many will just dump out the cheap pepper and fill it with their own C) just for people to instantly see the usefulness of being able to view the level
Why no mention of model number?
I wanted to know how to refill please? Mum has them and we are both baffled. She pulled the topoff the salt grinder and it looks like that isn't the correct way... thanks. L

Lyn, that actually is the correct way as far as I can tell too. You just pop the tops off & fill. The downside is it doesn't come with a little funnel or something to help you. I just use one hand as a funnel, which is not perfect, but does work. I'm sorry I didn't show in the video, but I didn't think of it & You Tube doesn't let you edit videos. Thank you, Mike

@@readalinedoalinecooking7842 Hi Mike, oh OK thanks I'll be seeing Mum again next week so will take a look. I suspect it might be broken as we took top off and there was a plastic part still in there (in the way, so to speak) think the whole thing probably should have come off altogether. anyway great video and thanks i really appreciate the reply. I had no idea there were different settings to grade the texture of the salt. How clever! Love it. Might buy them a new set. Regards, Lyn
great review
Does the pepper and salt not fall out as you put them on your table?

Yeah, I'd say in hindsight, I've noticed that & they would be better if they were built so they could sit upside down. Good point & not something I thought of when I made the video
I'm the opposite, I'm surprised that it comes with any pepper at all. I guess it's nice if you don't have any in the house or if you wanted to test the grinder out. I would literally dump it in the trash anyways and replace with my quality pepper.
in 02:00 , where is the knife? :O
Thought you were johnny sins at first lmao
Oh joy, there are markings to indicate the coarseness of the grind. For the love of pete, what I need to know is whether the markings are embossed, as they, the C&M mills, were decades ago, or merely painted /decaled on. (Depending on the frequency of use, the decals or painted marks will be erased within, at most, six months.)

They markings are painted on the wooden portion of the units.

The markings are painted on the stainless steel.
stainless would make it more durable but I also like how I can see through it ☺️ And exactly same as I like it has 6 settings!!! 👏
It's like getting new tires with them half inflated! LOL They must have thought, well maybe the customer might not like the salt and pepper we put in so we will only give them a starter sample of the salt and pepper Cole and Mason sells!
Firstly you're buying a salt & pepper mill, look on the salt & pepper as a freebie. Otherwise I'll organise a whip round for you to purchase some salt and pepper. Is it rerally worth getting upset over that?
It’s a Sample of their salt and pepper that’s it.
Jesus Christ dude, who cares? You dont need a pepper/salt grinder, you need anger management classes

If you are going to put product in the device, fill it.
Johny sins hahahaha
Then a person could complain if they were full of salt and pepper they didn't like the flavor! Can't please everyone for sure!
A least tell us how to refill them 😂
The entire time, you complaining about that it shipped half full of pepper and salt. did it ever occur to you that people who buy that nice of a grinder may have their own brand or type fo salt or pepper to put in it? Geez, grow up...
