Out goes the original Volkswagen Polo GT TSI's 4 cylinder, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission combo, and in comes a new 3 cylinder, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that's mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Still the best drivers car in 2010 and even in 2020. No company bought a betterr drivers car then this into indian market , even after 10 years

Actually new generation already a chuka Hain ...but they will not release bec of high taxes.....cost could be touch newer i20 13lakh
Autocar SHOULD also mention safety ratings in all their reviews.

I believe vw polo is just 4 stars and not 5. So it's as good as Tiago, not any better

@@craigslist1323 For your reference, the polo is 190 Kgs heavier than any other car in the segment. That should for all reasons give the density of the gauge. Moreover, it is an experience better felt than explained.

Bs4 to bs6 polo differences:- 1. 4 to 3 cylinder 2. Dct to tc gear box 3. 1.2L to 1.0L engine 4. Marginal 5hp more power 5. No arm rest, no rear ac vente, no led, key less entery, button start, leather seats, Sun roof, apple car play needs a cable, no wireless charging, no back seat space 6. Same design / interior 7. High maintenance 8. Also same price as old one! (Clearly indicates that VW is maximizing their margins) Reading the comments here, there are still some fans of this car. But buying this car in 2020 only sends the wrong message to the manufacturer. They may take indian market for granted. This is just not done by VW and the market must teach them that. I am a huge polo and VW fan. But this just shows VW is not serious about Indian market. They hold just 2% of the market share and don't care about increasing it either. SAD. Whereas india has become the 4th largest market for automobiles in the world. Also @autocar not sure if there is a highline AT variant. Can you confirm.

Still safer than the latest maruti.. and a lot more fun to drive despite the missing dsg

This car is a modern day classic. I'm sure after 20-30 years this gen of Polo would fetch huge money for its timeless styling.

The issue with dsg is its reliability. So it's great for 5 years. As long as people set their expectations right, it's great to own

Fiat punto thinks otherwise.
Oldest car in its segment. But still the best drivers cars in the segment . No other car can match its build quality, highway syability, acceleration, road manner, ride quality . Even after 10 years of its launch in india. Rear seat space is very less, one of the biggest drawback of polo

Fiat Palio S10 gtx sports was a power racer.... design way ahead of time ... aerodynamic side fenders....rear spoiler unique...side skirts.. Canary yellow ...500 limited edition with Sachin signature....the steering was crisp....raw 100 bhp ... Italian design ...2002💓💓💓...ohhh did not mentioned the growling sound......wrrrrroooommmmmmmm
Don't call ur self a petrol head if u feel that polo is outdated . a Volkswagen is one of a kind . those who drives it knows that no car can replace it. You can buy Hyundai, tata or Suzuki. But owning polo is a privilege
No matter what but.. Manual gearboxes are the best...and it feels much more alive and enthusiastic

I am a i10 owner, but my most fav car is polo... just watching for Polo...
I like the transmission...no problem with a TC,even the new M5 went from DCT to TC
Torque converters are known to be thirsty. I think Rapid Manual is the only sensible pick of this trio.
I am a big time fan of volkswagen cars and it always brings smile to my face experiencing German machine.One issue is the lack of rear space even lacking of boot space. Also i have one doubt in my mind is it possible to perform burnouts on a automatic? I mean is it possible to tap the brake in D mode and rev it up and than suddenly release it. Any user or anyone? If anyone can help i will be really grateful and would like to thank in advance
POLO GT the absolute Fun to drive car...No car can match GT.
Will buy one if the European model hits India, no matter what the price. Till then it's a big no for this 2010 model.

That BS 6 badge is too much. And Manual gearbox proponents who havnt driven a GT TSI- ek baar drive in Bangalore on a Saturday evening.
I don't know why i still prefer this 10 year old car more than those car's came under these year's.

Dct will definitely give higher FE compared to TC - you will struggle to get 19 kpl on tc which is easy on the highways with gt tsi dct

VW cars have got generational updates around the world but in India it remains the same. Indians are happy with Tin Cans.
You could get Nexon instead of it or even free style deisel

In future definitely they will launch like Maruti because VW sales are literally down when compared to last year, if they didn’t launch Diesel engine definitely they move out from India production like Fiat company
Gearbox Swapped but the D3 to D2 jerk continues. Thats really sad :/

does it have grinding noise ? like shifting without engaging clutch in other cars, its happening in my GT DSG 1.2 (2019 DEC model) , am pretty sad about it. Not often but rarely and you have to pay attention to it with no music inside car. Is that the same thing happening for you?

Nothing related to sound in my 2015 GT TSI. U feel a JHATKA as if you have abnormally applied brakes harder.

This one clunks too. I own this car. D3-D2, particularly horrible, especially if you're used to a smoother box.
Better take a Kawasaki Ninja zx10r engine and fit it with a 6 speed manual. Manual transmission with clutch pedal is always better than automatic, atleast to me.
For everyone compalining about the eurospec facelift not being rolled into the indian markets, you should understand that it would cost approximately 16 lakhs on road in India. At this price point how many of you think you should shell out your money for unnecasary bells and whistles, which btw seems to be Hyundai's usp and is clearly failing as is evident from the pricing of the new i20.

Whatever they put under the skin but the designs of most of VW are getting too old now. In every other market they are 3-4 generations ahead. That's too much of ignorance on their part for India. Seriously I don't like any of their cars except new coming tiguan.
For so many years polo exterior looks same!
The biggest gripe of the Polo i.e The DSG is gone now, hopefully the TC is far more reliable.

Apart from the 6Speed Auto, what's the difference between the Regular 1.0TSI and the GT TSI? The regular Polo 1.0TSI seems like it's faster to a 100KMPH.
VW how will you sell your same old cars in India if you don’t change.
All older model from the EU are lunched in India, the interiors looks like 6-8 year old German model.

I bought this TDI car in 2011 and sold after using 6 years... very rugged car..I like the drive and stability. Very bad head lights.. VW should concentrate on design and features. Otherwise it's totally waste to buy this expensive hatchback in current scenario.
Manual is the choice

Urban Cruiser is exactly same as Vitara Brezza. Watching a Brezza review is enough
For heaven’s sake, GIVE US THE NEW GEN POLO WHICH IS ALREADY 3 YEARS OLD IN EUROPE!
Enough is enough, Polo is not relevant anymore! It is been 3 and half years since the new Polo is out but Volkswagen is having no intention of launching it here! It shows how much Volkswagen cares for indian customers!
To all the Polo fans, updated polo mk6 had launched sinse 2017 overseas but seems like Volkswagen is not taking much interest in indian market sticking to old 11yrs old model 😑
Is it still good option when we have entry level SUV and other spacious turbo charged Hatchbacks in this price zone like Venue, Sonet, new I20, Altroz ?? Given the option I may not opt. Not to hurt any ones feelings, it’s just my feedback.

No they all are better than polo. From my point of view
polo price is not justified. one can but rapid rider and get a better sedan.at almost 10 lack no projector lamp/led lights is a bummer.
So basically the new standard Polo and the new GT TSI share the same engine. The only difference being one has a manual and the other has an automatic. If it demands a higher premium than the standard Polo just for its badge, I don't think it will shine.

Nissan Magnite is a great option....
I Juz Don't Understand Y Makers Gng Through 1liter Engines Wit Turbo Wich R Nt Long Lasting.. One Thing Is Der Is No Replacement 4 Displacement

VW Polo is like CBR 250R of cars. Everyone loved them when they launched but not anymore Bks they stuck with decade old design. Seriously guy! it's time you get back to drawing board. 🙄

I used to own the older 1.2 tsi and I now swapped it for this newer 1.0 TSI AT (Highline+) not the GT and frankly, this newer engine and gearbox is just way better for everyday use and is way more practical and still retains that character we all love. I would strongly suggest you to take a test drive and experience it for your own.

This is asin 6 speed gearbox, which is used in minicooper basemodel . It is as fast as dsg , with difference in microseconds. And is rock solid reliable too for indian conditions
If only, they could give better interiors...
Instead of buying the gt tsi just buy the top 1.0 l turbocharged 3 cylinder highline plus and you can save 50 grand and get rear ac and arm rest from the company and get gti baging if you want the unwanted flex🙄 tho I brought mine just today for learning car by my dad
V costly,can go for manual diesel i20 or altroz to get better thrill
I would go for Nexon instead of this

It's expensive and Importing parts in India will drive the cost even higher. Volkswagen doesn't manufacturer every part in India. And India has some of the highest import taxes. Resulting in foreign companies being discouraged to bring there best in India.
