Have to agree. The 7.5 GTI is a perfect daily driver, even on UK roads. I will get get the 8 GTI but I am in no hurry.

@@spejpo its never gonna sound like a 5 cylinder or a v8 but it is a great engine, a friend has a 2019 polo gti with that engine with a dsg, it has only 215 hp but shifts like it has 300

The paint job is awesome!

Looking forward to seeing the R...can honestly say I’m happy with my 2019 autobahn

TheMetalGuy852 that’s true I mean it’s not perfect... their focus I’m sure is keeping up with other competitors. Which in the end will lose a lot of their enthusiasts in the process if that’s their direction.

I hate the centering of the badge due to the I in GTI being smaller in width the T isn’t in the middle of the VW badge arggggh. Does anyone know when this is likely to land? And when it can be ordered. The base is poorly pitched at 245 same as the old 7.5 PP. any need on PP SPECS. Harrison Sloan Two years after each polo release they bring out a facelift, if you look at the 2013 Polo and the 2015-16 polo you will see the facelift. I’m also assuming that they do follow this schedule, and not confirmed at all.

Yeah, no envy from this MK7.5 buyer. I think the rear end is pretty decent, but, truthfully, everything else makes me relieved I picked up a nice outgoing 2019 SE for 25K.

Hope that’s not the sound of this generation. I think it may have been edited in of another vehicle, as there’s no DSG pops. This 8th gen May grow on me, but I’m super happy with my 2019 mk 7.5 R 👍🏼

DPF? This isn't a diesel, plus for everyone who's saying it sounds bad, you can tell the microphone sounds to be close to the hood or in the engine compartment, that's how most 4 cylinder turbos sound under the hood

Love Like a Hurricane I had mine since 2008, bought it for $15,000 and had 15,000 miles on it. Today it has 130,000 miles on it. Use it only for my weekend drive. Daily driver is a 2005 vw mk4 Jetta gli

All the driver involvement and excitement of an Uber ride in the back seat of a Corolla.

Whatever happened to the VW company that used to make great cars like the MK4 R32. Every year it feels like VW is forgetting about the enthusiasts. Also why no 2 door option? Is it that hard to provide it as an option. That was what made the GTi, 2 door! Went to BMW and don’t plan on looking back until VW cares about their enthusiasts. Hope someone from VWoA sees this.

It's definitely growing on me - but I'm not looking forward to the tail light and head light treatment that we get in North America after our garbage regulations get their hands on them.

Liking the effects on the alloys!

The front end doesn’t do anything for me except make me groan. It’s the same platform, gearbox and running gear, which is great but not new. The driver is making it sound like my washing machine. I want to see buttons on the infotainment screen not hand gestures. The shifter doesn’t look sporty. I was waiting for the 8 to come out but will keep my fantastic 7.5 pp until I find something better in looks, performance, comfort and mpg and the 8 doesn’t appear to be it for me, not worth paying the extra money for at the end of the day. Might even go for a new Civic Type R at this rate......

If you live in the US and your state makes you have a front license plate, good luck

I really like the interior. Sounds mediocre. Outter style is meh. I'm happy I went 7. 5 rabbit instead of waiting. I was on the fence for sure.

It's hard to say, but I believe SEAT did a better job with that platform. The new Leon is eye candy.

I was also thrown by those fogs. Reminded me of something you’d see on a mainstream cheap all road. This design doesn’t suit this platform. IMHO.

Welp it’s ugly I was planning on getting a mk8 since I sold my mk7 to get an atlas since we had our son. Now I’ll just get a used mk7 instead.

Sounds pretty dull. At least from Mk5 to 7.5 , it sounded good to me

There are many things I don t like in this car.how it sounds mostly!

The main problem is the front bumper

the sound of the car is for a manual car and this gris is automatic dsg , the sound is for another car

Maybe the design will grow on me. But, first impressions. Those rims are hideous, the cluster of diamond-shaped fog lights are gross. The front fascia with the squinty headlights isn't my cup of tea but I do like "Power Dome" hood. Interior is nice and I like the direction it's going in - which I guess makes sense because I will spend the majority of my time inside. Final thoughts, I'm disappointed overall. I was expecting big things for the MK8. I'll stick with my MK7 and hold onto that for now.

The shape of this car does not look right, When you look at he back profile from the side looks like Kia Niro!! I don't understand that from VW, Front is ok, interior is ok as well.

Damn! Don’t get it why they gave it the same wheels as my 2018 GTI Autobahn. 👎 One of the reasons why after 18 months, I swapped my GTI for a 2019 Golf R; from one enthusiast to another, skip this one and wait for the 2021 Golf R, if they ever make them.

They usally always use the same wheels from the previous gen on the first few new batches of GTIs. They've done it since the MK5 im pretty sure.
