2020 Vanford vs. Vanquish vs. Stradic CI4+

Ойын-сауық

I also had comparisons with Tatula and Theory but deleted them because video became too long.
Vanford vs. Tatula: slightly lower resistance and startup inertia, but equal smoothness. Lighter. If you are buying a new reel, but Vanford, but if you already have a Tatula, its not worth upgrading. Definitely don't upgrade for the smaller sizes.
Vanford vs. Theory: same as above, but theory has nicer spool and nicer drag sound than Tatula, so definitely do NOT sell your Theory to buy a Vanford. Especially the 2000 sizes.

This review is spot on man👌🏽 Exactly my opinion of the 2 as well, the Vanford is an amazing reel but it is half the price of the Vanquish, so of course its not going to be as good, but for that price it gets close enough, hence "budget Vanquish" or "Vanquish ci4+", essentially a cheaper version in my eyes, but Vanquish is without a doubt the better of the 2 as it should be and worth every cent 🤙🏽 Oh and 1 more thing, the "roughness" is because of the body, in these tiny reels with carbon bodies, the carbon amplifies the movement of the oscillation, you don't feel it too much in fishing but you feel it a lot in hand as you would have experienced, No matter how expensive they are, any small 1000-C2000 reel with a carbon body will have more vibration in hand in the body than the larger sizes or reels with metal, its just a physics thing and cannot be changed, unless you avoid carbon in that size. Anyway great review man! Enjoyed it 🙌🏽🎣

I have two and they both have this slight roughness to them. But i had a 2500 size CI4+ and it was one of the smoothest reels, i had ever used. I have two stradic FL 1000 size and the roughness is missing from those as well. Maybe its the aluminum body that deadens the vibrations. Nothing bothers me in Legalis because it costs $50. For price its perfect. Vanquish is also perfect. Expensive but perfect. Daiwa Presso Limited is also perfect. Expensive but perfect. This year SHimano and Daiwa released Luvias and Vanford, that are expensive but have serious flaws.. One has resistance, one is rough in the small sizes, that I use the most. It's all relative. If the Vanford cost $50, i would like it more than the Legalis..

Hi Victor. I love your videos, words you use when describing things, even your accent I like it. Great job man, really appreciate what you are doing. I need an advice for 1000 size reels. I like opening and servicing my reels. No Mag Seal (already ruined my Ballistic LT , not easy to realign and center the magseal area , if you drop/mix standard oil again its over) I have Stradic FL's , very smooth, strong, low inertia & low resistance with 45mm handle. 185 gr weight. But then I had 3000 size Vanford, its perfect for its money and just 180 gr. Now my 1000 size stradic fl's feel damn heavy, I regret that I bought the Vanford. Because all the other reels I have , now feels too heavy. Its just habits/practices, but unfortunately my brain once detected it and get used to it very quickly. Now I need 1000 size reels less than 160 gr. , low inertia, low resistance, just easy to turn and stop. I haven't tested the small size Vanford yet, and I dont want to give 2 reels money to a single Vanquish. What do you think If I buy Vanford C2000S, replace the handle with 45mm, open it and put some light oil on the existing grease? Does it make a difference over that roughness you mentioned ? I will not replace any bushings or add extra bearings. You already did it, did it made a difference with 2000 size ?

  • @ifishcatfish

grease will not change roughness. Its from the plastic idle gears, i believe. Big handle will help for sure. Strangely i can't recommend any reels in the 200$ range. They all have issues. The Daiwa Reels in that range are smooth but have resistance. Shimano has less resistance, but has this damn roughness. Neither is a big deal, but after spending 200$ on a reel small things can bother you

For Saltwater or Bass fishing or anything like that with a lot of stress I recommend Certate or Twinpower - whichever you prefer. They are both great - don't tell anyone tell u one is better than the other. For finesse fishing or applications where sensitivity is important Vanquish will be best. You mentioned tolerances when comparing the vanford handle to the ci4+.. I just got my vanford today and there is more slop in the handle than expected.... what I mean by slop is this... if you hold the rotor in place so it doesn't move, you're able to wiggle the handle back and forth (clockwise and counter clockwise) ever so slightly (I'd say about a millimeter or less).. is this what you meant and was your experience the same? It's kind of driving me nuts to be honest lol. Note: there was no slop in the handle knob.

Ive used to Daiwa Exceler 1000 (185g) on it, and it feels perfect. Might go up to 200g and still fit perfectly. So im looking to buy a 2000 or 2500 size for this rod. Yeah, Luvias and Vanford are no good in the 2000 size. Very disapointing flops from both companies. If you can tolerate 200 grams on the rod, Twinpower and Certate LT in the 2000 size are both really good. My Twinpower is the most perfect reel i have ever touched, but there are always small variances from reel to reel. If i knew everyone will get exactly mine Twinpower, i would recommend that reel to a lot of people. In my book Twinpower and Certate are of same feel and quality. Certate has bigger spool and gears but shimano has better line lay and casting and drag sound. I personally would pick whichever reel matches the rod better in aesthetics. Of course, if you can afford a Vanquish, i would get the 2500S size. That is a reel you will remember forever. It is so light that u can get the bigger model.

Its hard to tell. If your rod is very expensive and light and has those micro guides, then go with 2000, which can throw 1/16 no problem. If your rod is cheaper than $300 USD, it will probably have bigger guides, and will me kind of heavy, and 2500 will probably balance better. Also, 3KG fish is a good load. To be honest i don't believe people when they tell me they catch 3KG fish on ultralight, maybe a few a year, but not regularly. But if u catch fish that big, then another reason to go 2500. If u cast jig heads stay with low gear ratio models, no more than 5.6:1

Nasci is one of the first and most successful reviews i have done on this channel. It is definitely smoother than the new Vanford. It also has a locomotive oscillation, and doesn't have that particular gear that i think is causing the roughness. The only issue with Nasci is it is very heavy..
