2020 Update: FAA, uAviaonix Skybeacon Install, Paint and More!

After a year away from uploading to the channel, I finally cobbled together an update of the past year with bits and pieces of videos I was intending to make but never got around to. In the past year, flying has been slim but I have continually worked on the airplane by adding a uAvionix Skybeacon, stripped off a lot more of the paint, and tried painting the spinner and gear doors/cowling to try out some products and spray methods. I also discuss some of the challenges that made 2019 the most difficult year of my life to give an update and add context to videos in the future. I look forward to making more actual flying videos this year! If you have any suggestions on what kind of things you want to see or want me to film, drop them in the comments below.

I’m glad you’re back! I actually, just yesterday, googled your tail number to see if you 1. Crashed it or 2. Sold it. I’m glad it was neither! Keep on moving forward and stay happy! Life is too short for anything negative! Best wishes and I hope 2020 is your year!! Ps. I just bought a 68 M20C! Hope to see you out there!

Congrats on the new-to-you Mooney! I'm also glad that I have not done either of those things. I hope 2020 is my year as well, thanks for the kind comment!

I’d like to strip and polish the spinner on my Mooney. What product are you using to strip the paint now that the good stuff is banned?

Like everyone here, I’m glad you’re back. I can relate to your 2019. I’m having it this year. I’m 51 and started training from 0 time in September of 19 to become an airline pilot. The plan I went over and over made sense financially providing nothing happened to air travel. Weeelllll, there it is. Got my private 12/23/19 and started on instrument on the first of the year. Then weather (Wisconsin) and covid happened. This is only the beginning of it for me. I’ve grounded myself like you did for similar reasons. I want to get back up, and I want to purchase a Mooney to finish most any ratings I’d like to add on. So your video was great to come across for the inspiration. Never stop chasing your dreams. It’s what you wake up for in the morning. If you catch a dream, get another one so you still have reasons to get up. Pursue your happiness.

I'm sorry to hear your unfortunate story. I have come into aviation at a terrible time as well, so I definitely can relate. Thanks for the comment, hopefully my videos can help with more stories like yours, that's the whole point of me making them really!
