2020 Toyota Camry TRD vs Civic Type R // DRAG & ROLL RACE + SURPRISE Contender

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

What has a big wing, fake vents and over 300 horsepower? Answer: both of these cars. The Toyota Camry TRD and the Honda Civic Type R are decked out in all of the things. Does that make them race cars? No, but we are going to race them anyway. Things don't always go as predicted, and a surprise competitor appears as well. Watch to find out. Subscribe!

It’s sad that Toyota turned the TRD badge into little more than an aesthetic body kit. I love the looks of the Camry TRD, but it really should have a manual option and a slightly upgraded V6 VVTi engine to match Honda's VTEC engine (even if it only gives 5, 10, or 15 extra hp). The fact the Type R is lighter and has 54 hp and 22 TQ more than the accord is all you need to know as to how impressive the Accord 2.0T is. Obviously the engine is vastly underrated and it has a smaller turbo than the Type R which gives quicker torque for around city driving. Meaning if you try to street race a Type R on public road, you will most likely win the race unless it goes on to well over 100mph😂

Great comparison. No real surprise to anyone, Type R won. That thing is a track weapon that just happens to have four doors and a usable trunk. Funny to think people would cross shop a Type R and a Camry but we did. We wanted something fun to drive, practical and reliable. Before we got our Type R, with money in hand, our short list was the the Hyundai Veloster N, the Honda Civic Type R and the Toyota Camry TRD. The Hyundai with its 100,000 mile warranty was not available in the color we wanted and the Camry was a little too big for our garage AND it did not come in a manual. Not having the Camry TRD with a manual option is a big missed opportunity for Toyota. Sure you might loose some seconds in a drag race but for driving enthusiasts it is also about the thrill of the drive and rowing your own gears give you that. We were able to find a new Type R at MSRP within our hemisphere and snatched it up. Oh well, turns out we ended up with the fastest car and the most fun car to drive but when you factor in the savings by a few thousand with the other cars, that choice is not always so clear cut in the beginning. Again, well done.

Yooo you gotta use the accord sport 2.0t it’s lighter then the touring it would have been even closer! But also you gotta look at the new 2021 accord sport they apparently recalibrated the throttle response for a better launch. Overall this still fulfilled what I been waiting for out of a KZread video

I have raced a type r and I’ve notice if you do a boosted 2nd gear launch it is easy to have “launch control” but doesn’t spill the wheels.
