2020 Subaru XV GT Edition,On Wet Genting Road, Test Drive / YS Khong Driving
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
When it rains, you will be very happy and probably smiling as you pass everybody else - simply because you just have more grip on the road than an ordinary vehicle.
It was raining quite heavily on our test drive, and rather than turn back, we decided to check out how the XV, built on Subaru's Global platform, its low centre-of-gravity due to the boxer engine arrangement, topped up by the Subaru All Wheel Drive system (SAWD) would fare.
We were not disappointed - check out the video, and give it a like. If you haven't subscribed, do click on the SUBSCRIBE button, so that we can continue to give you exciting and educational content like this.

"On the light. You need to be seen rather than to see", is an underatted advice that most of Malaysian dun understand when driving. Especially during raining, dawn, dusk & in the parking.
I love the way how uncle Khong shares the details with us.
the way he talks always remind me of the days when my late grandfather taught me how to drive.. He's a lorry driver since 1950's and he still drive really well even when he was 80 yrs old.. miss those days when he complained about my driving skills haha

Which one is better between Forester and XV in wet & mountain road?
Been waiting for Uncle to drive on XV and finally we get it :) I've owned XV almost a year and it is always an enjoyment driving this car, sometimes feels like addicted to it~ thanks Uncle for sharing very useful driving experience in this video!

Most owners of the XV are very happy....
Brilliant real-world demo of Subaru AWD / CVT / paddles generally and the XV specifically. Been driving Scoobies for years (primarily for AWD / reliability, not bothered about 'style' or 44 cupholders !) - Forester / Legacy / Outback / Impreza - even the old SVX. Picking up an XV next week and can't wait to try out it's features. Obviously softly-softly to start & could never hope (or want to!) equal Uncle's performance, but glad that the car can take over if/when I exceed my capabilities (or common sense!) and get me out of a pickle. Hat off and total respect, sir!
Super sir, a proud Malaysian and do full throttle on Malaysian rainy Genting road. I like when you say it slips a little. Others may shrinks but you smile. Our rally Champ a bit of safety tip - lights on.
Nice watching you back driving after so many months being locked down due to pandemic. I hope this will continue until everything’s back to normal. This is more interesting to watch because it’s raining ☔️ and misty, more challenging and the AWD system will be tested on this condition. Great watching you.😂😂😂👍👍👍
The only genuine pure 'reviewer' in Malaysia and he knows what he's doing . The rest of reviewers just talking like 'tin milo kosong'.
Best car review up and down Genting I've ever seen.
I’m glad KZread recommended your channel. It’s my first time to see a review of XV ( or any vehicle for that matter) while under the rain.

Thanks for watching our video. We have quite a few wet drives. Ours is a small channel, and sometimes it rains when we get there. Rather than waste the effort, ee do the test run in the wet, driving very carefully of course.
Owned one (non-GT) 2 months back to ferry my family on & off the beaten track of Sabah & re-enjoy AWD (this time S-AWD) when i'm alone.. Uncle YS's spirited driving test + satisfying laugh + high smile ratio = one happy owner! 🥳 Thank you sir & drive safe all.

The non GT is mechanically the same, except for the new head unit, and the body kits. And I have driven in Sabah before - definitely the XV is an excellent choice of vehicle. Happy motoring, enjoy your XV, and thanks again.

The XV does look very relaxed in the wet. It's not surprising to see why Subaru have the best 4 wheel drive system in the world. Another educational drive sir, good advise for the less experienced drivers out there. Take care sir and looking forward to your next video!

A man is not someone with six packs of leather on chest or handsome Bollywood or Kungfu-full Hong Kong actors or even some romantic show-off Ang Mos. A man is like this uncle drive the car with heart of steal. Watch 11.20 - 11.50 of the video as he hit third gear with paddle shift(even that hard to notice) and give room and respect to a motocylist. And he press the pedal with ease towards 140km/h and take the curves on a wet surface. Wow, manly. Even Jeremy Clackson dont dare to do that and he retires. Hat off sir. Watching your clips in details as you give respect to Subaru 45 years of boxer engine legacy
Wow... Awesome drive uncle. Carrying such speed under the conditions in such a composed manner. I remember rushing down many years back in a Toyota SEG manual under similar conditions and it was both 'fun and scary' with 'incidents' at almost every turn... If only I had an SAWD vehicle...

Three years ago, I test drove a few compact SUV including the XV. I ended up buying another vehicle cos I really disliked the dated interior of the XV, especially middle portion of the dashboard. But honestly, I now kind of regret not buying it cos I really love the drive. Amazingly smooth drive, great seats and very good brakes.

I used to own the first generation of Subaru XV 2.0 i-P. Drove it for 4 years before selling it off. I had no issue with the car, only had to buy a sunroof box as XV's boot was rather tiny. Can't fit my daughter's stroller and luggage at the same time.. hahaha Driving wise. It is brilliant! Especially in the rain where most cars are driving on the higher ground to avoid the flood, XV would just cruise easily. Fuel consumption and maintenance are just like normal Japanese car. I kinda regret selling it as it was my first family car. But I had to get a car with bigger boots. By the way, good driving Uncle. I wish this video was done earlier. It would have made me keep my XV much longer.. hahaha. Take care Uncle!

Agree with Uncle YS, I drove Ford Fiesta R5 at Dirt Rally 2.0, throttle control and braking control is very important. 😊😊
take care, Uncle Khong. Weather is cold these days.
owning a 2021 XV for a year, its very fun to drive, you can feel it's able to full throttle pulling out of apex. it has too much grips makes you want to have more power.
Excellent AWD demonstration. Remember the quality and newness of the tyres will be critical in these wet conditions. [A new set of tyres is cheaper than an XV]
Uncle Khong, you are a pro. Love the way you drove and the way you handled those dangerous corners. You are amazing. I'm driving Subaru XV 1.6. After seeing your video, I feel more confident with my vehicle. Thank you so much.

Thank you uncle Khong for reviewing this XV GT. Although it is long overdue. I own this car. This is the safest B-segment company SUV I ever own in my life. The truth is I had accidentally trapped myself in wet road and sharp cornering at Cameron Highlands twisty roads yesterday. My whole car skidded all the way to the left. But without panic. I leave up the throttle and adjust my steering to the left to make it straight line again.

I think its great you enjoyed the Subaru AWD, I see big smiles :) I enjoy my Subaru Impreza Sport in the California Canyons a lot! 🖐 The NA CVT combo is quite engaging especially the positive traction you mention loading up before corners. I wonder if it wasn't raining you would have hit the CVT limp mode when it gets too hot. I've been modifying my CVT Subaru to keep the heat soak down.
