    I used to play with the Wilson BLX Six -One Tour ninety. It was a very nice control racket. It had a lot of plow through with good weight and people said I hit a heavy ball. Then I switched to the RF97. That thing is a rocket launcher. It’s okay on topspin but where it shines is on the serve and driving the ball. It has good control but one must be sure to prepare early and not be late hitting the ball. It really rewards hitting the ball early.

    I have both the previous versions of the RF97 and Pro Staff 97. The RF is terrific but I’m not a good enough player to get the most out of it. It’s difficult to get that racquet head around quickly especially when on the run. The regular 97 is nice too. Are there any other racquets that play similar to these?

    After trying to adjust to the RF for the last 3 years, I just received the Pro Staff ps97 v 13. As a user of the Pro Staff since the original 85, this is the first time Ive gone down in weight so much. I have a long swing on the forehand without much spin with an Eastern grip and I just couldn't control the RF, especially when my arm gets even just a little tired like with drills or a long match. I think the version I just received will finally let me swing out more again and maybe save my arm long term in the process lol. The RF just offered me way too much power, even at 65 pounds strung, that I never could learn to control.

    Hey! I bought a RF97 earlier two years ago to try and get closer to my idol and I loved the plow through and head lightedness of it! I've slowly come to terms with the fact that it probably isn't the best racket for my 3.0 self as I can't sustain the power to wield this well for long periods of time and so I'm looking for a similar feeling racket but lighter. Between the PS97 v13, the Yonex VCore 95 (310g) and the Babolat Pure Strike, which one would you recommend for me? Cheers bud

    Thanks for the great content. I play with a 2015 blade 16x19 and am thinking of moving to the PS97 for greater stability and power but am concerned about the PS’s stiffness and it’s negative impact on my shoulder, elbow, wrist. Please share your thoughts.

  • @CourtsideSportsLTD

    @CourtsideSportsLTD

    3 жыл бұрын

    Putting the stiffness aside, I do not think you will gain much power or stability from the PS97. While it is 10g heavier, its a lot more head light with a lower swing weight. The beam design is box-shaped which usually indicates less power than more oval shaped beams. Your racquet is also only 2 RA points softer than the PS97, which isn't a lot. I did not notice any comfort issues. Next week or so, I am releasing the 360+ Head Radical Reviews. I think you would be interested in the Pro. Good power and stability, but much improved feel over the previous version.

    If you are coming from a 90's racquet, you'll probably appreciate more of a raw, graphite feeling racquet. For this, I like the EZone 98 and the Gravity MP or Tour. Both offer great control but lots of forgiveness outside the sweetspot and stability around the court.

    The Pure Aero is definitely a string breaker. Any racquet that claims to have a "spin pattern" or "open pattern" will break strings more easily. This is because there are fewer string supporting the ball on impact, as the string are spaced further away from each other. I can't say I remember seeing any crack or chip particularly easily while I was stringing everyday in store. Babolat racquets are typically quite strong in my experience.
