Having been to the previous 18 of these, I was so frustrated that, for all the obvious reason, I couldn’t b there. A winner having a run like this, leading for 2500m+ was one of the greatest I’ve seen 👍

Every horse had their chance. It was a true staying test. The locals had no chance...they aren't used to this style of race. They turned to water.

Just did a Might And Power on them. Proper 2 mile race. Great ride outsmarted them and got the win.

How many different cities have you lived in, I think you’ve lived in Nashville, Atlanta, Perth and Melbourne if I’m right, just asking. One of the horses broke their leg :(

Twilight Payment just ran them all off their legs.......Great staying test and plenty of tired horses after that I reckon. Track was in excellent condition as well.

I agree with the new rules for foreign runners in the Melbourne cup as in recent yrs there have been too many fatalities. Most of these runners from Ireland and my country GB aren’t used to running on hard ground like that . So maybe they will have to take them over earlier to get used to the hard ground . But it’s a lot of expense taking a horse to Australia and then all the vet checks and the chance is they might not even get to run. It’s going to be home horses only I’d imagine from now on I’m afraid .And the fact is the British and Irish now know what horse is needed for the Melbourne cup now. But these new rules are going to make it harder for foreign horses .

Not to take anything away from the winner coz that was awesome! But can we just take a moment to point out Verry Elleegant coming out from the back around the entire field and running down the outside so strong down the final straight. If that run there wasn’t enough to tell you what a force she was going to be the following year nothing will. Put money on her with no hesitation for the 2021 cup and she did it, huge mistake sending her overseas.

Another European horse that cannot win a group one in Europe, wins a group one in Australia

It is a handicap event so trainers must do their homework well before and get the right horse with the right weight.......why Bart was the master.
