2020 Explorer ST DIY Blow Off Valve (How-To)

In this video, we show you how to do a DIY Blow Off Valve on a 2020 Explorer ST. As you may know, we deleted the resonator on our 2020 Ford Explorer ST so you all could see what it sounds like. Due to an overwhelming response to multiple Explorer videos we wanted to share this next.

I've owned a Fusion Sport (2.7 Ecoboost), Escape (1.5 Ecoboost), and an F150 (2.7 Ecoboost). This is a great "how to" video, and will save you time and money over any kind of blow-off valve. There's a way to make this this type of "chair foot" mod even easier. Don't remove the airbox, just disconnect the hose on that driver's side intake runner, slip a rubber cap on it (don't really need a clamp if the cap fits tightly, this fitting isn't under any pressure, so maybe a 1" chair foot will work better), and it will vent out the end of the hose. I'm thinking of getting a '22 Explorer ST, so it's good to know where the factory valve is, and where to uncap the hose on the driver's side.

Isn't that a maf system?? The air not return back into the intake is lost and will make the vehicle run lean unless tuned for it.

Why remove the pipe? Just disconnect, cap and zip tie to existing tube.

  • @NeverStock

Well once we disconnected the hose there was no need for it. So we capped the return side and abandoned the hose. Plus one less hose in the way for our future mods.

I am going to be trying this soon, it does sound easier to just disconnect and cap to existing tub. I'll try that first. It won't throw any codes or anything right?

I have a 22 and I believe that there IS a type of ‘diverter valve/bov’ in it. You can hear a similar air pressure release going on inside the intake just like the 20, 21’s when you rev it. Does anyone know anything about this because I cannot find anything about it anywhere. Last resort is to dig into the manual but thats old school! I think itd be a good idea to make a video about this topic that way we can gather the 22 community and dig into these new st’s! What if you CAN make these cars flutter. I know you can go the fenfab charge pipe way but is a vta bad for the engine and does it need a tune? I need to know!

I'm totally doing this today when I get home from work! Thanks fellas, I subbed to the channel, especially after this and straight pipe video. Perhaps I can make my own high flow catted downpipe, or at least design them and have a local welder, weld up the stainless for me at a fraction of the price
