Red = Ducati. My camera club has a monthly competition with a theme. One month early this year the theme was RED. That's it, just red. I went to the Ducati shop and took some pics. I submitted what I thought was the best of them and gave it the title, 'Nobody does red like Ducati'. The pic got the judge's pick for the month. There you have it, folks, the photo judge has spoken. :)

Thanks for the vid. A few comments if you don't mind. The '18 959 I have is a beaut! IMO she has much finer lines than the V2. The fuel gauge issue is nothing. When you're down to your last 1.25 gallons the bike starts counting "trip" miles, and if you ride it hard, you've got about 25 miles until fumes, lol (I did run out once but managed to coast down the hill for just under a mile, right into a fuel station, so no biggie). You didn't mention the "Lap"timer. I have a local street track some friends and I ride. The lap timer is great for "friendly" competition. Records 30 laps, including time, max RPM and max speed! It;s perfect for a tight winding road that you really can't safely race someone else on. Electronics at its finest! Thanks for the video, as always. Ride on!

I am home with covid 19, and I am just blown away by the Panigale V2. The electronics to me is sorcery! My last track bike was a 2007 GSXR 750. It’s been either nothing or cruisers since slamming it into the ground in 2009. My lord do I want this bike!

I took one out for a test ride in summer and although I love the look of them, it just felt too buzzy and rattle for me. Completely agree about the mirrors and I'm sure the kick stand was a pain to find with your foot. Ended up with a new Aprilia Tuono Factory which felt far nicer in my opinion.

Great looking bike with the perfect amount of horsepower for 99% of people that can not fully use it. Great review. I own my second Super Duke and recently purchased a MV Agusta Dragster 800rr Pirelli edition. Beauty and the Beast. I bought the MV over the Streetfighter V4. I wanted something smaller and lighter. The triple is a rougher engine version of the tooooo smooth V4. Triples easy to work on vs V4 with both torque snd high rpm. V2 and Triples make me smile. A little engine roughness adds character. Like a Ferrari or Lambo though, I like seeing the engine. This bike and the Streetfighter I can not see the engine. Ducati make the Streetfighter more naked vs semi naked. I want to see the 4 header pipes otherwise it looks like a scouter enclosure.

I'm with you 💯 on the no fuel gauge. The naysayers on this tend to do the same trip or just blast around on familiar roads. If your doing a trip or tour far and wide a fuel gauge becomes more important to take out a lot of hassle. It just makes life easier. The thinking to omit one on your product just limits your customer. Dont get it mate.

Excellent summary Mr. Flyer. Your opinions mirror mine very closely on my ‘18 V4S. Great minds etc. I’d add the auto turn cancelling for mine as a “like”. Does the V2 have this? And the no fuel gauge in this century, being very kind to simply call this odd. Perhaps the turn signal canceling is not so useful in your land of roundabouts but here in San Diego it is quite nice. And with the summer heat here in SoCal, I just put a couple of eggs in my pocket and by the time I’m home they’re boiled, along with my fiddly bits, handy for a lunch break.

I shall add one to my collection when I get a bigger garage. ps. Did you realise that “classic Ducati red” is now slightly more orange than it used to be? This change was made because of the properties of HDTV. Another lesser known fact is that the Ducati gave Ferrari the black dancing horse. All this and more can be learnt from a Ducati factory tour at Panigale, just a round the corner from Bologna airport. Go weekdays when the factory is open and make sure you book at least 24 hours in advance (over the internet).

I’m trading my 2018 fire-blade SP, I’ve always had litre bikes had a 1100 Tuono prior to the blade. I can’t help feel like I’m going to be slightly underwhelmed with the power. I’m not one for chasing 200bhp but my blade makes 189bhp. In the real world am I likely to notice the 30bhp difference? Also how was the bike over all, and issues with stalling etc? I’ve never owned a Ducati/ridden a twin. Would you suggest I invest in a decent trickle charger and leave it on when not using? Thanks Leon.

Annoying things I learned about mine: - No fuel gauge. - The low-fuel indicator comes on when the tank is like half full lol - There's still a little slop in the throttle - The storage compartment is comically small-- it's literally _barely_ enough to fit your insurance cards in. On the other hand, I live in Phoenix, AZ (one of the hottest places in the US and indeed most of the rest of the world) and I don't think the heat thing is THAT big of an issue. It is hot, but as long as you have some forward movement to get the air flowing, it's totally doable. Traffic is a little rough though.

Any internal combustion engine will pump out around 1.5 times in heat energy as what it produces as mechanical energy. With one HP being 736 Watts that gives us 1104 Watts of heat per horsepower of mechanical energy. A 100 HP bike will be giving out the heat equivalent of 110 one-bar electric room heaters. Small wonder that we can get hot on a bike.

@@TheMissendenFlyer Optimal efficiency for an internal combustion engine is 40%, (because they operate on the Carnot Cycle) meaning that 40% of thermal energy is converted to mechanical energy. That leaves 60% of heat energy remaining as heat, and that has to go somewhere. 40 X 1.5 = 60, so that is why you get 1.5 times as much heat energy as you get mechanical energy. 'Internal Combustion Engines' by Lichty is a great read if you want to get seriously nerdy about them. As a pilot you might like to know that a turbine is only about 25% mechanically efficient, so you get three times as much heat as you get mechanical energy.
