The engine program this man has at Speed is bar none. Then you put that together with Mr.Gordons hatred for feeling air between his throttle and the floor board and you have the single most exciting man to watch in the desert. His line choice is different, his entry speeds are 20 mph faster, and hes extremely smart. He has mechanical sympathy while getting everything out of the truck. Thats just talent right there.

Did a couple of Dirt bike rides on a lot of that route. Santa Monica Veronica (Tecate) to Mikes Sky ranch one year them Ensenada to San Felipe another year. I hated that 30 miles of truck whoops.

Robby Gordon did. First with the "Hummer" which was like a giant dune buggy (big ass engine on the back), long travel suspension and 2wd. He gave the 4wd Minis a run for their money. Then the "Gordini" which is similar to a trophy truck (front engine, big tires 2wd). When the big manufacturers switched to 2wd (Mini, Peugeot), Robby then entered the SxS class. Unfortunately, no outright wins yet but a few stage wins plus the most spectacular show on the Dakar for sure, esp during the hummer days. Lots of vids here in KZread

It won't be long until these vehicles are equipped with forward looking collision-avoidance radar to see through the dust and smoke, allowing them to go full speed even in poor visibility.

When all these, successful, conservative, law-abiding, God-Fearing, Flag-Waving, family-friendly, and well intended folks say, "Get out of California!" or "Leave it to the Assholes!", even "Let the Democrats Have What They Fucked Up!". Here is my problem: This Race has been a part of my Life. I'm am a 58 year-old man with one wife for 21 years, 2 houses, 4 dogs, 5 cars, and 1 truck. The last year has been especially challenging for me because starting almost immediately last January my wife and I began to lose many of the closest people and longest associations in our lives. Believe me, this isn't close to a replay, only some real lowlights. I had a long professional and personal association with Dr. Jerry Buss and The Los Angeles Lakers, so Kobe Bryant's death was an incredibly sad, shocking beginning. Later, many reading this may share this personal grief with me. The tragic Glamis deaths of Marty & Nancy Smith, which if honest, I am not over yet. Fuck it! Why lie? Their deaths have shaken me to my core. As a boy, he was a hero. As a friend of 40 years, he was my hero. he was my go-to advisor. I worry about everything. Marty never seemed to worry about anything. I felt better just hearing his voice. They say God has a reason, I miss him. I pray for his family. Later in the year my friend, a string-player named Ed Van Halen passed after quite an extended battle with Cancer. Three weeks later, my mother succumbed to the same vicious disease after her long fight with the same rival. So you might see why I may have done some late-night, early-morning driving, praying, thinking and soul-searching over the last year. I realize this race is in Mexico but everyone you see on the Team, these are 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation real estate developers, craftsman, masons, mechanics, fabricators, metalworkers, welders, contractors, roofers, computer techs, logistical experts, commercial agents, framers, dyno experts, engine builders, insurance providers, husbands, grandfathers, fathers, brothers, wives, sisters, etc. Just move to Idaho or Missouri. Right! We grew up doing this. We built this. We built all of this. We created all of this. We are not turning this beautiful Great State of California to these carpet-bagging, wild-spending, high-heel wearing, man-hating assholes who lack wisdom, derive deviate pleasure hearing themselves say the word "transsexual" and warmly welcome every color to their rainbow except White!

Imagine how unexciting these races are going to be with silent electric engines - no more roar of the engine, no more muffler fire - there goes any audience enthusiasm.

Not to mention being down for hours at a time waiting for the thing to charge back up. The Baja 1000 will take several days to complete. But since people that care about EVs don't care about racing, and people that care about racing hate EVS, racing will die off anyway.
