2020 (A 1917 Parody)

Фильм және анимация

An adventure about two roommates who attempt to survive 2020.
This short film is a parody and love letter to the film 1917. It was written, produced, directed and edited by one person, shooting it entirely on a Fuji X-T3 with a Zhiyun Weebill-S. Due to the pandemic, 2020 took us over three months to shoot, reshoot and edit while dealing with faulty audio equipment, filming at dusk, safety regulations, scheduling conflicts, lost footage and so many more obstacles we had to literally jump over in order to make this short a reality. Honestly, it's a miracle this is being released and we hope you enjoy it.
Directed by Stephen Ford

Ascender is a production company where we blend cinema and gaming, but in reality it really isn't a production company, it's more like one dude, Stephen Ford, who creates a bunch of stuff and like a few people who help that dude make that stuff. They're pretty great. I think they're called producers? Oh, you wanna know their names? Ugh. Fine. Colton Mastro, Jenn McDonnell, Michael Lieberman, Jerome Knight, Brennan Mejia, Jake Gyllenhall, Will Smith, Jon Sudarkasa. Thanks for watching. If you're not subscribed by this point while reading this I'm going to come over to your house, bake you a cake, chill and watch The Boys Season 1 with you and then stab you or whatever. Okay. Cool. Bye.

08/28/2019 Scott R. Krol It was after the Fourth NPC War, in the Age of Trump, that a legend arose. Tales spread from the verdat applachians to the glowing crystalized slag that was once called Los Angeles of a man and his van, traveling the post-apocalyptic wastelands. When the skies blazed as the lighting storms danced, and the winds howled as liturgy to the forgotten fallen, The Beanie would appear, preaching the Tao of Fencesitting as he traveled from hamlet to village in his SHTF Van. Armored, mine-resistant, bristling with dazzlers, smoke launchers, and remote controlled miniguns (but with surprisingly smooth ride) his van became as well known as the man who drove it. Fifty percent Asian. Fifty percent Caucasian. One hundred percent Beanie Badass. He is TIm Pool, Survivor of the Social Civil Wars, the Man of Middle of the Road Views. And yes, even in the apoclaypse he's still being deranked and will gladly accept donations. #Fencesittingkorean #TIMCAST #TIMIRL

And I don't even know anyone who's even going to have nostalgia for this year. Years 2000 and 2010 have a point to be nostalgic to a-lot of people who grew up in not only those years but also in the respective 2000's and 2010's. But 2020 for the 2020's though? Nothing absolutely nothing to be nostalgic about this about this year whatsoever. It's not even because i'm getting old (I'm going to be 15 on the 29th of October) even kids who are living their childhoods this year know everything that's happening this year. Sure I know they're kids and they're too young to know about this. But you have to keep in mind that we are living in the year 2020 not 1990. The newest generation gen alpha have fully grown with smartphones that they're relying on so much they're digital natives now relying on their technology. And even kids know how utilize phones and check the news. Sure parents have to keep their kids in check of course but this is 2020. Any kid you see nowadays has a phone and always uses it without their parents permission. They have so much access to so many news and also even watch youtube in the first place which is why even though youtube is only made for teens and young adults kids can still go on it and still get their news. Because of this even though they are young, because of how adapted to electronics they are because of course it's 2020, and how controlled every piece of media is nowadays, They know that they will not be nostalgic about this year at all because of how much they know and the only thing they have to grow up with now is with dumb pieces of PC controlled bullshit in 2020 media or have to resort to older things which is the good stuff and can be easy find but also hard because of censorship.

@Burleon, Yeah it really shows. Kids just don't give an F anymore. They just instead are on internet most of the time, don't go outside, and when they are on the internet they are quite something else. Now don't get me wrong I seen alot of kids born in 2010, 2011 and 2012 that are very smart which I do like that good for them and good hope for their futures. But the rest though yeah I don't want to talk about like at all even if they are only kids. Because they are on the internet without comprehending on what other people think they can be quite ignorant and annoying. Even if they are kids why do they have to be on the internet if they don't have the comprehension skills to do so? It's their choice I know but they have to be prepared to go on the internet because it's like a completely different world then theirs especially in online games in 2020. Because it's 2020 and ignorant parents exist if they come unprepared for the internet then they can be quite annoying and ignorant. That why kids in the 1980's, 1990's, 2000's and heck even in the early 2010's fare much better because not only it was a time before smartphones and internet but even during the time of smartphones and internet kids were much more PREPARED and they were ready to enter into a new world to explore in their youth. Not most these 2010's borns which they don't even know what they're doing.

I think what gets me, looking back two years later, is how suddenly all our lives changed and how quickly we had to accept that and get used to a new normal that was in many ways horrifying. The slow pan up on the burning hills really sells this. It's an apocalyptic shot, and both actors see it before we do... but neither reacts, because they've been burning for a while now, and that's not even close to the craziest thing 2020 brought to the world.

First 5 mins: This is pretty good. Next 5 mins: This is hilarious. Last 10 mins: Damn! This is the best homage to the movie 1917 & the year 2020 at the same time. Never subscribed to any channel after watching just one video. First time for everything, right?

Same! My attention span is reluctant to click on videos over 10 minutes long but I though "well, if it's too boring I'll click on something else". By the time the credits rolled I didn't want it to end.

The walmart parking lot scene with the fire in the background was great cinematography. The hornets were killer! You should have walked out of 7-11 with a big gulp at least...
