    Reverse hurts nothing. The only component that gets strain on in reverse is the chain tension slider shoe inside the chain case. Full throttle, tension is on the long pull side of the chain. Hand brake, tension is on the brake disc, the chain in the case is nearly neutral tension other than engine compression. Engine braking and reverse, tension is on the chain tension sliding shoe, that's it. IF the roller comes away from the helix angle, all it does is rotate over to the back of the helix and rest there(put masking tape on the backside of the helix angle to make a dent); then when applying throttle, the roller moves away from the back of the helix to rest on the curved roller path again. ...Ive seen a gear case bust out in Revelstoke from reverse down a hill, but the sled had 18-49 gear and a severe dog leg in the case(the chain was one size too long), on an 08 xp 163. In the older REV chassis, it can snap the chain tension block (ive personally broke 2 of em' on an 05) . The G4 case is the "minty minterson" of chain cases for the tension shoe and lever position in relation to small top gear sizes and reverse braking. The smallest force on the tension shoe is in the G4 case. . ...If you ever get to try my clutch kit out for that Turbo, you'll be able to stand up and read the news paper coming down a hill with its strong engine braking, holding down to 14mph track speed with stock 21 top gear. A 19 top gear holds to 12mph. You did some Minty fucking wheelies Bud.

    Im thinking of getting a 850 rotax engine to make a pulsed plasma 2 stroke like Joseph Papp did and wound up dead. The trick here is to make toroidal plasmoids in the cylinders that tap aetheric ZPE. This is a ball lightning powered 2 stroke that would not need chemical fuels

    I’m not exactly sure what happened but grape vine says the sled came over backwards essentially like a motorcycle coming over backwards in a wheelie and landed on top of him, either crushing him as these sleds are heavy 500ish pounds and or trapping him underneath the sled in the snow suffocating or something similar is probably what happened.

    Andrew Ream Please explain how? The motor is designed to run backwards in reverse, everything is designed forwards and backwards just because there is a load on the motor doesn’t change that fact, Me and plenty of people I know have been doing it since reverse was invented it is extremely effective to slow you down on a steep hill

    Engine reverse down hill. Complete and voluntary surender of throttle control of the sled if needed. Hard on belt (see directional arrows printed). Hard on secondary rollers. I'd be most concerned with your decision to completely surrender any throttle control of your machine and being forced to remove a hand from your bars to do it. Not a wise technique you've adopted. Your ego and perhaps being set in your ways may have you thinking otherwise but everything I've listed above is accurate

  • @cthom5190

    @cthom5190

    4 жыл бұрын

    alldaysammyj yea sure, in a bad scenario I can roll a sled on edge just as easy down hill without any throttle as long as I’m rolling forward so I’m not so concerned about giving up my forward throttle momentarily. I’m not forced but I did choose to use my right hand because I could regulate my speed with my left using the brake during the action, I don’t always do it. But I had sprained my ankle prior to this video that day and I didn’t want to overdo it, so this seemed to be the best controlled way of descent on a slushy open hillside

  • @mynewuseddoo

    @mynewuseddoo

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@cthom5190 thanks for the reply. By surender of throttle control I wasn't referring to your use of your right hand, even though dancing hands all over the handle bars is another sacrifice of control. You compound that with a gap in situational awareness with your eye and mind focus moving from your surroundings to your controls. In reverse you've lost any potential input that may be needed to control or change the attitude of the machine. Not looking to get much more into this but wanted to clarify what I meant there. The accuracy of my comment still stands, not a wise practice. The other thing I and other experienced riders would worry about would be you passing on this to a new rider who wouldn't know any better. We can only lead a horse to water.
