I think that video sums it up nicely. As you say, so many amazing designs and I know from I own piddly little effort, quite time consuming in the design, creation and making the video to present it. All done in a very friendly and supportive way. I certainly saw videos from folks I have never had any contact with, before this event. And a big well done to the Winners and Perry and Martin

Some well deserved winners with some great presentations. I wish I could have spent more time to work on mine. I almost bought a small foundry set up which some shop put together but decided not to use. I'll kick myself for a while as it was a decent (maybe incredible) deal, but sadly I just don't have the space right now. Maybe I'll be able to do something more substantial in the next challenge. In the meantime my research project has new summer tasks thanks to an unplanned schedule change, I have a 24 inch rock saw to put back together for my father, a small mountain of dirt to toss with my temporarily working trommel, upgrades to plan out for the trommel, etc... I really need to say no to taking on more big projects sometimes 🤣.

Ask, I think that "almost" will come back to haunt you - it sounds like you missed a good deal - sometimes you just have to grab what life puts in front of you and go with it. You never know you may need that small foundry to repair that 24 inch rock saw - Man that's a biggie! Actually made a trommel many years ago to comply with my fathers request that I sieve his several cubic yards of compost. I used a large wire cage for a 10 gallon glass bottle covered it with chicken wire. Mounted on a crude frame and drove it with a "spare" mower engine - sieved the compost in a couple of hours! Ah, the long lost energy of early teen years 😢.. Martin

@@olfoundryman8418 that "almost" is definitely haunting my dreams already. Fortunately the rock saw is mostly a reassembly job. I'll need to put a new piano hinge on it and put a new view port in, but that should be the worst of it. My father also has an old artisan split bed lathe which a new nut on it's lead screw. I toyed with the thought of casting the odd shaped bronze nut and flange, but I'm thinking I might try having it 3D printed in metal through a reasonably priced prototyping company. It should still be cheaper than buying the correct ACME tap and easier than trying to figure out making a tool and trying single point threading. That's cool that you built a trommel. Sifting compost is one reasons why I had been long planning to build one. I miss that energy of my teenage years too, I ended up spending a summer moving about forty 55 gallon drums filled with rocks. I had the energy to empty each barrel and move them one by one from one side of my father's place to the other in preparation to build a new garage.
