I had to do this with my 17 volt. I also put a very tiny piece of duck tape on the metal part where it makes contact with the button to give it a little more thickness. Haven't had any issues since then. Was getting the error multiple times a day before and sometimes took several tries to get it to connect enough. It's been about two weeks and haven't had it happen once since. The duck tape might not be the best answer but it's what I had on hand.

Switch is an Omron D2HW-BL251H.

The faulty switch is due to fatigue on the metal lever. Just bend it back carefully. The actual part number for the Omron Switch is D2HW-BL253M. Mouser.com has D2HW-BL221H which may be a better replacement. $3.08 +SH

Can the switch be replaced? The metal tab fell off and I cant find it

Man that was great. Is there any way you could do a video of how to open the center console to the point where the switch is exposed? I need to try this repair but I don't want to break a bunch of plastic tabs off in the process... My dealership is telling me because of the UAW strike, there is no eta on the part I need, plus I have trust issues with having someone else work on my car.

I understand your concern. If you have an LT model, just start pulling the consoles cover up by the cell phone charger slot. Pull the rubber boot out first . Then gently pop the remaining clips up.

Does this work with a 2018 Chevy Camaro?

My 2017 Chevy Camaro recent started this problem. I watched several videos about this. Same problem learning how to get the center console apart first has been a struggle. I’m half way just need that last piece off without breaking something. 😆

Generally you can just pull up sharply on the shifter handle and the boot and shifter console cover will lift up along with it. More normal handling is to use a trim tool to pry up the console cover at its clip points. It is just held in with push clips.
