Being the usual 636 they didn't have to spend much on the engine and it looks like they put a lot of the budget on the general package, I like what they did.

I've bought 5 R1's over the years and had an incredible time on them especially the carb ones!! But my friend got me into 600's and I absolutely love them! Jumping back on a bigger bike you can obviously tell the extra power that goes without saying but there's just something about screaming the nuts off a smaller, great handling 600, there brilliant, love them!! On our naff roads of today I have said like you, it's all you need!! LESS IS MORE! But not according to the wife!

people keep saying 600 bikes, but the 636 and thye 650 are almost like having a 450 vs a 1000. They are so far apart it isn't even close. The 636 tops about 180mph, while the 650 tops 125- if you're lucky (sticker says 131, but I have full throttled it for almost 10 minutes, parts downhill, and never exceeded 125. The short gears of the 650 are SO pathetic. You are in first until 13 mph, 2nd until around 30, 3rd until about 42, 4th until about 50, 5th until about 60, then you are at 6th gear at 65+. There are times where I am in 6th gear BEFORE I even get on the highway on a 650. It only pops a quick wheelie in the first 1500 in first, and you can't even clutch into a wheelie in second. There is just no power. The 636 can clutch a wheelie in 4th on the highway going 60. I don't like when people throw around "600" bikes. They are SOOOO far apart.

As for the leaning causing weight on your wrist and the wind from the windshield not blocking enough, those hopefully could be eliminated if you want by adjusting or getting different clip ons, and just a bubble shield as he said. I just sat on one yesterday and really liked it as it is one of the only bikes that don't aggravate my back issues that have caused me to have to switch to naked sport bikes (am in the US). Sitting on one the other day brought me to his review (though I tend to watch his videos anyway)

i have a 2019 Kawasaki ninja zx6r and have installed a m4 street slayer, PCV, double bubble, flashed the ECU installed the servo buddy, 520 vortex chain and sprockets without changing teeth and Q3 tires. I am 5'11'' and it is amazing. I compete easily with most Liter bikes. I have achieved a top speed of 178 MPH without a dyno tune. It is amazing in town and on the track, it lays down and comes right back up with little to no effort I agree with everything you have said. Once i installed the PCV and flashed the ECU for the blipper, the snatchy throttle was completely fixed. for comparison, my friend has a 2016 ZX10R and he does have a higher top speed but I outrun him until ~120 MPH and then he starts catching back up. This bike is amazing and is an amazing steal of a bargain.

Enjoyed your review very much as ever. I also really like that you still try bikes out that you're initially not that keen on like this & the SV650X for example. I think a 600 may well be the way to go! As you say, all you need and more & at an affordable price. Although very surprised the GSXR appeared smaller and yet was more comfortable. The 1000's have evolved so much while the 600's have been standing still but I feel there could be a resurgence on the horizon!

The only thing you got wrong and probably because of thinking on the fly, was that you said the front sprocket -1 tooth probably gives more torque in the mid range. As it's the final drive of the gearing system on a bike, it changes the torque (somewhere between 10-14% possibly) across the range from 1rpm all the way to the top in every gear :)

5'6 isn't that short, the average man is only 4 inches taller than you in the UK and that's due to all these genetically modified foods people have been eating these last two decades so don't knock yourself.

@@LambChopRides It is different in the United States. ABS is not required and a lot of the older riders prefer to not have the ABS or at least have the option to disable it like in some of the KTM street bikes.

I just know it’s too small for my 6’3. I’d love a little 600. The idea of getting 75% out this on the road rather than constantly reigning it in on a litre bike is quite appealing. I think it’s looks and great and it obviously has plenty in the tank..

I wouldn’t disregard 600s because you’re 6’3 honestly that’s not to big I mean I’m 6’ flat and my r6 and zx6r both fit me perfectly. Go try riding a r6 they’re known to have the tallest seat height Ive heard if you’re not close to 6 foot then you won’t be able to flat foot it so it’s worth a test ride

No Chops! Don't get rid of the GSXR!! I'm a circus bear on smaller bikes also. They look pretty and feel like thrillers in the short term, but the wrist position is a killer. Kawasaki should make a naked version of the ZX-6R.

Well I finally got mine at the end of April, after waiting over 4 months, but it was worth the wait 😉 I already did some mods: removed the exhaust servo completely and swapped the OEM exhaust for a SC Project from the previous model, did a tail tidy with led indicators at the rear, removed the charcoal filter, mounted GB Racing cover protectors and swapped the ungly rear axle nut for a titanium one. Next to come are the tires, I'm not happy with the S22. In my opinion it's more a touring sports than a "real" sports tire. I'm going either for the Racetec RR or the Supercorsa SP. Also I'm swapping the stock brake lines for braided ones, mounted directly to the calipers to bypass the ABS modul.

  • @Chris675R

@@MultiDreamer1979 I don't want to sound too overconfident, but I simply don't need it. The ABS is a system that sometimes intervenes, if you don't expect it and also don't need it. Like if you're trailbraking hard into a corner, then it's very dangerous, because you lose brake pressure and maybe cannot make the turn, if the ABS decides to intervene. I have 6 years of racing experience and I know how to brake even in those shock moments, when a car suddenly pulls out in front of you. I've never overreacted in those situations and even if I locked the front wheel slightly, I just let off the brake a little, the same thing the ABS does. I did this 10k times on the track, and I can take that experience to the street. There is only one condition, in which can't beat the ABS, I have to admit that, and that is in the wet. But I don't ride in the wet on public roads, so no ABS for me.

I am looking at both of these bikes I currently have a 2008 Yamaha R1. Does the zx6r feel more nimble than the GSXR while turning and moving side to side? It's surprising at how similar the physical size of the two bikes are. I like the power of my bike but would like something more nimble for tighter sections of road. Here in the states the base model 2017 GSXR's are selling relatively cheap, so the difference in price is not huge.

  • @LambChopRides

Feels very similar for turn in, GSXR is surprisingly good! The ZXR feels lighter to maneuver around on the ground off the bike but very similar once moving. ZXR is a little easier to throw around and more rewarding in the smaller tighter stuff I would say..
