2019 WRX STI - NEW Car , DEAD BATTERY!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I am surprised to see the battery in my new 2019 STI is dead! Shortly after, more things go wrong! I have only owned this car for seven months so I wasn't expecting to have any problems.
The battery doesn't have any name brand on it, so it looks like a cheap battery. The battery probably went dead due to how long this cars sit waiting for a buyer.
Hope you like this video, remember to come back for part two! Thanks for watching!

Same thing happened to mine after a year. I went and bought a Yellow Top battery instead of going to Subaru and getting another Panasonic battery. I should’ve let them replace it though. That’s what the warranty is for.

The brand of the battery is Panasonic. It`s written on the plug side, but you don`t see it due to location and protective cover.

saw the video title and knew I had to comment. Had my 16 WRX for 3 years and the battery died, granted I live in area that is cold but when I started looking it up online, everyone mentioned the batteries they supply with the car are junk. quite a shame since the car is really fun

j s Part two is in the works now. You would think that will all these cars, I would own a jumper kit like seen in this video. When I think about it, I haven't needed one. If a battery went dead in an old car like my Yaris, I would drive a different car to get a new battery. In this case, the car being new, I didn't want to buy a new battery so a jumper kit would have come in handy this time. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing! Makes posting videos so much more worth while when you do that.

Culture Looks like the STI had a really cheap battery. I bought the Yaris back in 2007, I haven't mentioned it yet but if you watch some of the older videos, it's in the background somewhere. I'll do a video about the Yaris soon, it's been on my list of things to do.

Why would you call roadside assistance for a jump, when the car is sitting in your garage? Jump packs and battery charger are something any car owner should have.

When I had the 16 WRX I always felt that the battery was kind of sketchy although it did last 3 years before I had to get it replaced. When I insert the key and turn it to the start position I would have to hold it there for 3 to 4 seconds before the engine would turn over. My 19 STI has the same original battery as my 16 WRX. In the STI I press the start button and the engine starts like I would expect it to turn on.

My 2020 wrx limited is 2month old with little over 2k miles now... it was having trouble turning in the mornings and after I get out of work so I just decided to change out the battery than to claim warranty (factory battery is horrible with Subaru). I had to change battery with my wife's impreza as well 3 month after getting the car.

Dude i had the same problem just last week . So it is really a common thing atleast on subaru wrx oem batteries. I didn't even go the dealership coz it's not worth driving two hours from my town as they'll probably just check and charge battery or worst replace it with the same oem battery.

Hey there 🤦🏼‍♂️ lol. I’ve owned a 15 & 16 fiat 500 abarth and everyone needed a new battery every year!! Maybe the heat being the battery was next to the turbo. Nevertheless all covered under warranty. My old 16 Mustang GT was 3 and a half years old STILL THE ORIGINAL BATTERY!!! My Camaro SS & vette should be 👌🏻 ok because the battery is in the trunk of both these cars. Last years hopefully no heat!! Believe it or not? Parents had 2 Mercedes where battery lasted 10 years!!! Lol, you heard me right 👍 battery was in the fire wall with a fire wall blocking it from the engine compartment. Heat is a battery #1 enemy. By the way I believe most if not all?? German cars can’t be jumped started.

Mike J Autos and stuff A battery lasting 10 years is amazing but I guess it helped that cars back then didn't have all the power draining electronics that they do today. I loved how my corvette battery was in the trunk, I thought that was so smart because like you said, heat is the enemy. I like where the battery is in the WRX, it's right up front easy to get to. I think since STi's will sit for a long time before they are sold, the car was probably not started often enough and some cells went bad. Part two is coming soon Mike so look out for it! Hope you are doing well in Arizona! (Maybe you should do a video about car batteries next?) 🤔😀

Mike Fyxdt This car is the most fun I've ever had driving. The speed you can carry into a turn is second to none. The clutch engagement point and the sport modes makes it a challenge to drive smoothly. It was expensive at just over $40k but it's a hell of a car.

@@MikeFyxdt the problem is that the dealership will only swap out the battery for the same battery. The root of the problem is that the battery is too small for normal use in that car. I believe that this decision was an effort to consume less fuel. Anyways the card doesn't necessarily have electrical problems, it just comes with an improper battery.

I found that if I don’t lock the car by hitting the button twice, the battery will die in a few days without use. The red light on the dash has to blink twice when parked or its not completely off. Don’t know the reason behind this but haven’t had a problem since I’ve been doing this.

I have a 2019 Subaru Forester (1494 miles) and the same thing happened to me, once. I called SOA and they gave me a claim number. I took it to the car dealer, and all they did was a parasitic battery drain amperage check and it tested normal. They didn't give me a new battery. We are not alone with this issue.

You honestly wouldn't want them to replace the battery. Even though it would be free their batteries are staggeringly underpowered. They use small batteries in order to marginally improve fuel efficiency. You'd be better off swapping it with a duralast gold group 34 or better yet and odyssey extreme group 34.

Hi Mr Justin. It had nothing to do with that deep water since the battery was too high up to be affected. STI's are not quick to sell and sit on dealer lots for an extended period of time without being started. I think I got a battery was half gone by the time I bought it and since I don't drive it but once or twice a week that didn't help things either. @@CarStory You had the car for a few months after it sat on a lot, so that's probably not the cause. I'm not saying definitively of course, but water can cause long term electrical problems. Corrode connectors, cause shorts, etc. The fact that the dash lights /electronics went kinda wonky at the same time is troubling. I hope you don't have long term issues, maybe you got some water in there that has since evaporated since you're in a warm climate, but definitely don't rule out water-related issues
