I was just thinking the same thing lmao. I'm like.. "they think it's safe to let this guy still ride?" Fool was the cause of half his own crashes last year.

He's a sprinter and the Giro has too many mountains. He'd just suffer through it to have a chance at just a few stages. And he is also likely focusing on the Tour de France. California will end and leave some time to recover and be well prepared for France, whereas the Giro would take a lot out of him and leave him less prepared for a race he's better suited for.
