Had one of them in the early 80s paid about five grand.......o why didn’t I keep it.... having said that something was all going wrong with it

Clifton Leake My thinking exactly. And I’m sure the thinking of everyone more interested in quality content than a playing-by-numbers variety show. BBC are blind to the subtle charms of the early Clarkson-May-Hammond shows that lead to the big specials of later seasons organically (high point for me remains AMV8 vs 997 vs M6 on the Isle of Man). If they want a car show in their lineup then give it to Harry, Chris and Henry and let them run with it. Otherwise ditch the TG name and just commission another piece of totally forgettable dross.

If the BBC’s following a blokes-you’d-meet-down-the-pub route then they’re right: Paddy McGuiness and Freddie Flintoff are quite conceivably blokes you’d bump into down the pub and think, “I should be in a different pub.” Harry and Henry are guys you’d want to stay and have a drink with.

Thirteen year old me thought that the Jensen Interceptor was the coolest car around. I imagined how suave and sophisticated I would be as an adult driving down to Monte Carlo in an Interceptor. I never got the car so I have had to put up with just being suave and sophisticated.

Thanks Harry. Your knowledge and enthusiasm shine through as usual !

That Impreza is so much car for the money, but the Carlton would be my pick of the whole bunch.

Harry thank you as always for this magnificent tour of Silverstone. Your enthusiasm is truly infectious. What I would give to be there!

Went to Race Retro today and spotted your Project 8 parked up by the auction house. It was attracting a lot of attention, not least from my friend and I who designed much of the new body panels. Hadn't seen a production vehicle in the flesh. Thank you for using it and allowing everyone else to enjoy it too. Some super special vehicles in that auction too!

Wish I could drop in to the auction from Connecticut. Cars look smashing. Thanks for the guided tour Harry. Informative and entertaining as usual.

Yep - I agree. When you get to that level of value and rarity, history and provenance is everything. Can't help but feel some of that has been lost by converting to RHD. LHD over here isn't such a big deal anyway!

Always loved the Maranello that ice blue 575 is just gorgeous however I would have liked to see more of that yellow Mondial as a more affordable dream.

god i would love to have a beer or two with harry,i am a serious petrol head,and a biker...keep them vids coming harry.p.s i had an impreza 5 yrs ago,looked like what you got there.driving mine i found it was 0-60 sub 5.after looking under the bonnet i found to my horror some one had replaced the turbo with a much bigger one,i raced a mate at work in his tt audi and blew it away.......great cars..

Lo Harry love the GT6 back in 1983 I owned a 1969 GT6 Mk2 I remember on a fast down hill left hand corner loading up the rear suspension and the car would hop at what seemed insane speed but was in fact about 70mph...but bloody scary in the wet....how I lust after a bright red one again to relive my youth....

Excellent, they were scary things at their (low) outer limits. My mum insisted I wore a crash helmet whenever I was in it, so I used to put one on as I left our house and then I'd take it off as soon as we were out of sight! Happy days..

1969 Isle of Man TT-I was 18 months old and squashed into a home made child seat between the seats of my dad's mini marcos -Got as much attention as a Lambo on the island at the same time!Craned onto the ferry instead of drive on!Dad neatly had kittens.

The golf has the wrong wheels on. They’re GLS wheels. And the cloth should be the gradient red stripe. Great video though Harry, some absolutely lovely cars. My personal fave is the 968. Beautiful

They do very well in historic racing.

Only just come across this, it could easily have been twice as long! So many nice cars, the 914, that Ginetta, the Minis, the 968, the 911s, that 356 Speedster. All cars I'll never be able to afford! :(

Harry, I think I can speak for the other posters as well, I love the way you think about cars. Some of the cars you discuss you've owned and the ones you haven't, well, you were there when they were just cars being used. The bottom line? With your age, also comes experience and credibility and it comes out in your videos.

Great stuff from Harry, but he got the 914-6 history backwards. The six cylinders were available from the start, but were discontinued in 1972, unlike the four cylider version that lasted until 1976. Nice to see a Longchamp Spyder and Harry´s shout out for the Maserati Biturbo Spyder.

There is an intresting story behind the death of th 914-6. From PCA.org: One of the factors that helped kill the six was the ’69 911T-based 2.0-liter engine, which was part of the original plan to separate it from the base 2.2-liter 911T. The plan would have worked better if Heinz Nordhoff, CEO of VW, hadn't died in 1968 without explaining to the staff the terms of the “handshake” agreement between VW and Porsche regarding the 914. He and his old friend Ferry Porsche had agreed on the price of the 914-6 bodies that would be supplied to Porsche for final assembly, but when Kurt Lotz took Nordhoff's place and knew nothing of the deal, VW charged more for the trimmed-out 914-6 bodies than Porsche had built into its model structure. This meant the 914-6 MSRP was a bit close for comfort to the 911T - and the rest is history.@@harrysgarage

Elan door fitment: It's the same affair with Suzuki Ignis Sports. Quite often one of the doors isn't a perfect fit. Leading many potential buyers to think the car might have been hit, but no....they're all, or many of them are like this. Factory issue

@@kris8742 Nope. The door fitment issue was on the Japanese cars assembled in Kosai, Shizuoka. I did actually own a Suzuki Alto for about 3 months which was built in the Maruti plant in India, the engine 'pinked' shockingly, but ironically all the doors fit perfectly.
