Nice to see Seat update 😊 In fact, the incubation period is 14 days, even up to 28 days in some cases. I know that you still do not have the isolations as in the rest of Europe, so it is important to keep yourself safe and avoid contact with other people as much as possible. I'm telling you this as a doctor and as a big fan of cars and your channel. Best wishes from Serbia ❤

great video! in my FR i stopped using eco mode as it's always in too high a gear for real world driving and i was constantly on the brakes. i have a spreadsheet for my fuel consumption and since i've changed to driving in normal drive mode the fuel economy is actaully slightly better by about 30 miles a tank, as the DSG gearing is much better for the real world and i can lift off and engine brake. cylinder shutdown still happens in drive its just the coasting function that doesn't happen, but if you lift off you're not using fuel anyway. i don't know if it makes a difference but mine is the 1.4 ECOTSI not the diesel. hope everyone is safe!

Good to hear positivity still reigns about your investment Andrew. It is a great looking estate car in a fabulous colour. I’ve yet to see if the next generation is better again, one to investigate. A good decision to retrofit the paddle shifting equipped wheel, I guessed right at the start what it was. Thanks for the content and hope you and yours are all keeping well. Keep safe.

Excellent review. Had my ST Cupra (exactly same age as yours) for a couple of months. Really enjoying it and not missing my Mk7 Golf Gti . So that good. Like having the four wheel drive but actually I think the Golf has the edge on handling with its mechanical limited slip differential. Fuel consumption is averaging 32mpg so only slightly worse then the Golf .All told they are excellent cars

Hi all really enjoying the content. A couple of my experiences using a cupra mk3 290st manual. I agree eco is mostly redundant but I get on average 40mpg on my 150 mile round trip motorway commute with the engine in sport. Secret is never go over 65 on the motorway use super unleaded and always coast in gear down every hill and slip road lol. Eco also accelerates slower in cruise control apparently.

Hi Andrew in my experience with eco mode on a vw/Audi group vehicles it's best to stay away from it and leave it in normal or individual. I have an Octavia vrs petrol manual and like you tried eco mode and found I could get better economy in normal /individual. Great content and great review looking forward to the next one. Regards Simon.

I will be collecting my new Leon soon, a 1.5 TSI FR ST DSG in the same Mystery Blue, it’ll be my new Motability car and I can’t wait! I should have had it by end of March but coronavirus put a big delay in it going to the adaptations company, but that’s all been finished today and I should have it by the 27th June. Not being physically able to test drive any car because of my bespoke pedal adaptations it will be my first drive on the day I collect it. Like I said I can’t wait!!! Great reviews on the Leon, been really interesting to view 👍🏻

I use mine in sport mode mostly and that gives me the best mpg 🤷🏻‍♂️ eco mode seems to be the worst don’t know why ,also when you press the mode button you only need to press it once then select what driving mode you want on the screen saves pressing the button all the time plus I changed my tyres to the Michelin PS4’s and having them at 35psi on the front and 32psi on the rear and the ride was improved.

On my BMW 123d there is so much power in any rpm as twin turbocharged I can rev it up to 5000 rpm and hitting the red line is just so satisfying, its got very short gearing and revs very quickly so sometimes I actually did go over the red line but luckily on my car it stops pumping fuel if I go over the red line very nice daily indeed ( I get around 40 mpg on mixed driving)

great review Andrew, i'm currently running a pre-facelift Leon SC FR Tech TDI 184 and have found it a great car for my 110 mile commute to work. looking at replacing soon and still can't make my mind up on Diesel/petrol. The miles I'm doing point to D (potentially 17k/year) but worried about the taxes that might get rolled out on oil burners over the next few years that could affect running costs and resale. Any thoughts....? Stay safe fella!

No independant / multi link rear suspension on this model? Is this because it's 150 hp, more powerful models like the 190 hp 2.0 TSI will have it right?

  • @paultasker7788
    @paultasker77884 жыл бұрын

I think the new Euro 6 engines are less economical than the previous versions. They seem to regenerate the filter a lot. I've got the 1.6tdi ST SE dynamic. This suspension is nicer than the FR ST I had before with little loss in real world cornering. Handles well. I usually get low 50s mpg. Up to 60 on a run. But obviously less power and a manual. Performance is reasonable. I'm not impressed with the engine refinement. I got all season tyres and they're very quiet. That means engine noise more audible. The engine seems to sometimes be boomy and slightly rattle on light throttle. Gearing a bit long but 3rds ok in town but really at sub 2000rpm shouldn't sound strained but it does a little in 3rd at 30 and 4th is boomy there as revs too low. I'd go for the slightly high pitched 3rd gear hum which means more power on hand. By no means deafening but like a diesel from 10 years ago, maybe more. Other times hums. Even audible at 70mph. Prior to that I had the FR 1.4 2014ST and that 1.4tsi 140 engine was a peach doing 45mpg and feeling quick. But couldn't justify the finance deal I had on it so gave it back after 3 years. Mine (1.6tdi) is memory blue as well, 2017 with 47k miles cost 9k and I own most of it. I'm loving the SE suspension versus the FR but I miss that 1.4tsi 140 punch and smoothness even though it lacked character and a good sound (like most 4 cylinder turbos). It's economy for that level of power makes the diesel seem slightly disappointing at 52mpg versus 45. Leon ST good all rounder. Anything I can do to quieten the 1.6tdi down a bit?

I would try running it over a period of time out of ECO mode, I have a Leon FR (TSI not TDI), and I found it to be worse on fuel in ECO mode. I've found the fuel economy is definitely better in Normal and Sport modes. I leave it in Sport now as the throttle response much nicer. On motorway run I've seen over 60mpg from it at steady 60mph (1.4 TSI).

Miss my 1.4tsi. In many ways this is better than 1.5 replacement. Smooth fast and more economical that the 1.2tsi I had before and that was a hatch and 1.4 was an estate. 1.6tdi not hugely more economical in real world. Much cheaper to buy used though. But choosing again I'd save for 1.4tsi.

Takes turning the car off, locking and waiting for everything to turn off before reversing the process for it to work. Glad i didn't get the Active Info Display system as i would be without instruments if it is run off the same software. Dealer updated the software during first service that reduced the frequency of the problem but still happens every now and then. Maybe a problem with VAG software as a whole not just to one maker?

For comparison, My Civic with the same speed and 1.8 petrol engine does 53mpg from Manchester to London and back If u want fuel efficiency to get the same car with 1.6 TDI will bring back much more

You only get airbag light when you turn on ignition with airbag disconnected. Safest thing to do is disconnect battery though bear in mind you need to turn the wheel 180 degrees to dismount airbag. It's tricky with no power so I'd disconnect once you've popped airbag out but before you try and unplug it. It was well worth doing, you will love it

It's 3 months old not 10 years so that probably has something to do with it.

@@volkswizard also I do think some of the modern emissions stuff harms your mpg a bit to save the planet.

I agree, it's a workhorse first and foremost. And yet I bet it can keep up with a lot of so called sport cars on a challenging road because it can carry so much speed around corners. It doesn't rev out but that doesn't matter with 7 slickly delivered ratios and a shed load of torque 😋
