@@TheScrappedPodcast i find it even more a flex of vanguards percussion when they can do multiple takes of the show and the audio and video still line up perfectly, cause they are able to execute it that cleanly the exact same way, many different times

Drum corps can do that sometimes. Band can do that sometimes also but, top level drum corps like this that is what all of us have strived for over the years. Cheers

The lack of front in the comments is astounding 3 years later so I’m gonna say something. This is one of if not the best fronts to ever grace dci imo and absolute deserves a lot of the credit for the success of the percussion section in 2019.

How come at 7:01 the marimbas sound pretty clean, and than just a few seconds later, they feel like they are only coming through the keyboard mics?

I was wondering this too, I think that there might have been really loud dutting in battery and whoever edited the video wanted to make it quieter if that makes sense. It is strange though

I would assume it's just background sound, could be anything, and as to why they didn't just take a different take and clip it in is beyond me. Oh, and Hi Colin :), thanks for linking me this video!

probably the audio engineer's choice to make the whole pit a bit louder since that was a keyboard feature in the show

Colin is correct-ish. Everything is Wonderful, but @ 7:02 , there's No Way the Marimbas are THAT Dirty. Sounds like the Audio guy mistakenly hit the "1982 Montreal Olympic Stadium Severe Echo" button during mixdown

little bit late to this but rennick teaches with a sound quality first, technique second approach. leads to some really funny looking hands but super clean lines
