2019 Ram 2500 Limited Mega Cummins mpg on 1300 mile one day trip.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I picked up my Ram 2500 in Barneveld Wisconsin and drove 1300 miles home to Victoria TX. Just wanted to show mileage on a new truck that had 26 miles on pickup. This truck has ram boxes and air suspension.

My 19 mega Cummins is getting the same mpg you experienced which is 20% BETTER than the highly modified 6.0 Powerstroke I sold. Did you drive over any mountain passes on your trip? I’m feeling a little bit of an engine boost surge under certain conditions where low rpm (1400) and about 12psi boost which means a fairly steep hill, I get some power surging. Call up CJC off road they will take care of your suspension needs even with the air rear end.

Beautiful truck! I have all the paper work done on a similar 2019 2500 Limited with all the goodies, except the air suspension, but I can't take delivery until they figure out a recall problem in the transmission. It seems the trans can build pressure in the valve body that can cause discharge of transmission fluid from the dip stick and spray it on the turbo and exhaust manifold potentially causing a fire. All I know is my $80k truck is sitting on the lot waiting for Ram to figure out a fix! I'm going from a 2015 2500 6.4 Hemi to the new Cummins. One of the primary reasons is because I got tired of getting 7-8 mpg when towing my 10,000 lb toy hauler, but from what I've been seeing, the Cummins isn't really a bunch better. I figure I'll be looking at somewhere around 11 mpg while towing my trailer with the Cummins, but after paying $.50/gallon more for diesel, the typical extra maint costs,... and oh, the $9k diesel penalty, I'm not sure the diesel is really much of an improvement at all. My Hemi has plenty of power to tow the toy hauler anywhere I want to take it, it just has to work a little harder to do it, like sometimes pulling grades a 5,000 rpm for example. The Cummins will just do it a lot easier!I think my 2500 with 4:10 rear running empty on the same drive you did would probably net about 13-14 mpg.

Razors Edge Adventures I’m looking at the 2019’s Laramie 2500 now. I was set on the diesel now I’m set on gas. My main fears are rams notorious for rust, 75,000 mile transmissions and I’m a little concerned with the big 12” display but that’s also the reason I’m getting it. I hope these trans are better as well as metal treatment

Urban Hunter I haven’t really heard a lot about rusting issues with the Rams, but then I don’t live in an area where there is a lot of salt put on the roads etc. I have a 2015 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi and, even though it has low miles, I’ve not had a single problem with it. The Hemi has good power, but it needs the RPMs... and lots of fuel to make it. The gearing of the speed tranny isn’t a good match for the Hemi, especially when towing, but I haven’t had any mechanical issues with the tranny and most of the miles on my truck have come from towing my 7500# boat or my 10000# toy hauler. I agree with your concerns about the longevity of the 12” display and the incredible amount of electronics etc in the new Ram, but in reality, every new vehicle produced these days has the same kinds of electronic Componentry and vulnerability! My issue now is that I’ve discovered the 2500 Limited I’m waiting on only has a 1840 payload! How do they produce a truck with 18,000 towing capacity and limit the payload to 1840? Can hardly handle the tongue weight of a 20’ travel trailer, let alone a 35’ 5th wheel!

Razors Edge Adventures I noticed the low payload. The power wagon is way worse. I’m only looking at the Laramie longhorn with extended cab not the mega so it has higher payload I believe. I plan on towing a 30’ travel trailer about 10 trips a year if I’m lucky. Other than trips to Home Depot and occasional driving just to not let it sit it will be in my driveway as my daily driver is a Subaru Outback.

@@eric44707 The displays are pretty plug and play. If there is an issue it can be replaced by yourself or even swapped for an aftermarket one relatively easy (afternoon max). I just converted my F150 to a 12.7 inch aftermarket in like two hours and that included some rewiring.

Think I'll stick with my paid off 5.9 '07 mega. I'm getting right at 21 mpg hwy (hand calc'ed. Lie-o-meter says 23). Pulling our 24' TT, I'm usually around 14. Love seeing the new trucks, but I just can't imagine the payments that come with it. I'm totally confused on why RAM continues with ~30 gal fuel tanks in these. For running empty, range is about the same as a car. But towing... ug. That's what these were built for.

Trailer light was on so my question is can you drive with the rear bags lowered and not have the computer throw up any codes also when l drove the truck like that the truck did not bottom out over bumps, basically l want the rear of the truck to sit level with the front with out having to spend alot of money and l'm not a fan of lifting the front of the truck to match the rear.

I had the bds 3 inch with fox shocks. The shocks they sent were too short in the front and banged on hard bumps terribly Their track bar is complete junk would always cone loose. Fox shocks rode good and towed good I had tge radius arm lift. Was terrible i would never use them again. The bushings on the radius arms squeaked terribly like forest gumps mommas bed Thing sounded like a wagon driving down the street. Their support after we gad problems was terrible as well . And got a price of 3400 to return to stock Also 3/4 ton s seek to be more senstive to drive shaft angle. If i built that truck again i would have some work done to tranny first no more than 90hp tune Level it so of their s issues i can return to stock easier. I would use a better shop if one existed in my area Or i would leave suspension alone and tuning stock but they are slow in stock form.
