I just got the Shield TV Pro and am blown away from the AI upscaling...most of my 1080p Plex movies now look like 4k movies. I had audio issues galore with the Chromecast Ultra which this replaced...I'm very much satisfied.

@@kacpers186 it does. I used it with Fubo TV but on my 65" C2 OLED the upscaling didn't look very good so I turned it on the lower setting of the upscaling. There's multiple upscaling settings to choose from thankfully

Great video! Liked! 👍 I love my (older) nVidia shield. It 's so darn fast! I use it for every streaming servive (Netflix, HBO, Viaplay) AND connect it to my Plex server. I've wanted to make a NAS server but this is the first time it seems that I can actually use my (older) nVidia shield in this way by using the software *X-plore* to transfer the videos or series from my main-PC TO the nVidia shield. GREAT video! Thank you! 🙏

I love X-plore, have used it for years. Only file management software I use on Android devices. Highly recommend.

I'm adding a 2tb ssd drive to mine...overkill but fun. Solid Explorer is another nice alternative. I work with a lot of cloud storage differnt places so I find it easier and more convenient for me.

Thanks for the detail, a lot of other reviewers said “no upgradable storage on the pro, so it’s an downgrade from the non-pro” so happy to see you can upgrade it!

Today I got one but I will return it. The Shield refuses to support 2k, and has a big problem playing files from USB. The machine really dissapointed me after all the high rates. Besides, the image quality is nothing special, even below a 50$ video pc card.

Great video! Being so positive and finding the best in the devices is really cool! Is Half Life and Portal (from the OG Shield devices) running on those new entries? Lets see if the Desktop mode will be removed from Android TV when 10 lands :) For SD Cards - a good choice would be some model made for dash cams. Covers both speed and reliability (multiple read-write cycles). ymmv as usual Those 8GB on the non-Pro though... regardless of how it can be expanded, some applications (well... talking games) can only be moved if installed on the main storage first. This is a serious pain in the rear and sometimes just puts a massive "no-go". Especially if the game needs to update needlessly (looking at you Asphalt 8). For providing the best Android TV devices thus far, NVidia really give their best to nickel-and-dime the customers :| Edit: The amount of typos I've made is impressive :| It's time to reconsider the default keyboard :|

Do not use flash drives for full time storage like that. Flash Drives aren't mean to run constantly. Get you an SSD

Still rocking the original 2015 shield. No issues. The chip refresh is nice but not enough of an upgrade to get me to replace my perfectly working original shield tv. If they would have bumped up the ram and internal storage on the new "pro" model I would upgrade. Would really love to see a pro plus model with a game controller included, more ram and maybe a m.2 slot for storage upgrade. Dreaming I know...

Nice little devices; but, beware: the Nvidia Shield Basic's on/off button is quite delicate. It is a small lever that transfers the pressure of your finger to a surface mounted micro switch. I found out the hard way, just how delicate it is. It is difficult to get at the button with my finger, so I used a pen to push it. The switch broke off inside the device. I've opened it up and can see there are two very small bumps that hold the lever in and allow it to pivot. Now I'm studying the board to see if I might be able to hard wire an external switch to it, and feed the wire out via the opening the switch used to occupy. I'll hot glue the switch to the side of the tube. I'm really looking forward to getting the 64 bit Pro model; so I can set up a PLEX server and put all my entertainment media on it.

The only thing I recommend if you're gonna use the USB 128 drive you do need to put it on an extendable cable cos they're gets hot and they burn out of run three of them and every one of them burnt out but put it on at a short USB cable and no problem at all

There is no problem with 1 usb port, just connect USB hub, and you can connect lan doungle as well. For Nvidia shield pro, I'm using Synology NAS server for expand a storage and Plex server.

I had that particular Sandisk 128Gb flash drive, Soon as i plugged the drive into the Nvidia shield there was major lag, Once i unplugged the drive the shield was back to normal, Not sure why but i read the shield only work with specific drives, So i purchase the Sandisk 3.1 Extreme pro Flash Drive SSD work like a charm👍

I was having tons of issues trying to play my Google Play Movies purchased content on both the app itself and through the KZread app using the 2017 Nvidia Shield TV. Could you confirm if it's now working correctly?

I already have a plex server and I want to buy a proper tv box to use kodi as my front end on the tv and have it streaming from my plex server ! would you recommend the Shield tv or the shield tv pro ? Would love your advice on this I just had to return the Pendoo x11pro 4k ultra as it was extreamly slow and nothing worked ... dont really want to do another mistake like that haha setting kodi up takes a while !

Hardware-wise they are the same except for the 1gb of RAM, but I would definitely consider the Pro, especially since it is $179 from Nvidia right now, you get a better port selection.

Hi I have a HTPC which I use to store my ripped Tv shows and movies and then use the Plex app on the TV to watch them There are a few apps that I cannot sideload onto my TV such as Disney + and amazon prime and BBCiplayer (for the wife) Is it worth the purchase of the Pro model and use that for the plex server (instead of the HTPC) and what other benafits does thso have over the HTPC?

Hey. I have a pair of NON BLUETOOTH Xbox One controllers. I use them to play via USB on my PC. They have wireless (Own wireless xbox protocol) that you can use with the USB xbox adapter, but as I said, no bluetooth. My question is: Will i be able to use them in the new Nvidia Shield Pro? Do i have to plug the controllers via USB as I do with the PC? Or do i have to buy the wireless adapter for the xbox one controllers and plug that into the shield? I've seen that only the shield pro has USB. My PC is far away from the TV so conecting the controllers directly to the PC it's not an option. Thanks

I find that regular 3.0 thumb drive like sanDisk ultra are to slow. You need a thumb that’s a as thumb drive or solid state or sold state 3.o hard drive

I bought a regular Nvidia Shield Tv (2017 edition I guess) years ago and completely forgot about it. I just pulled it out of storage and turns out it's a 500 gig version with the micro SD card slot and the touch sensitive controller remote. I guess I lucked out. Gonna buy a ethernet cable for it and already 3D print a base for it to hold it up securely sideways.

A tutorial to add Chrome or filelinked onto standard shield would be great. Step by step as I'm a novice.

First great video but , the controller is a second generation unit , I still have the original sheild from 2015 which in alot of ways is better then the newer units as mine came with a 500gb hard drive built in , more ports and way better build quality , but the sheild is so much better then any other unit out there except for my zidoo uhd2000 , but you cannot go wrong with the sheild

With an Nvidia Shield, I feel more comfotable paying $10 for Geforce Now cloud gaming and play my games from steam library, than paying $15 for gamepass on Xbox, to play games I already paid for :/ Not to mention games on Xbox are usually 2-3x times more expensive.

For 4k atmos to work. Do I have to put my movie files on plex server on nvidia shield? Or it's fine to keep media server on my pc and simply play through shield? Just wondering how properly set up everything and if all would work. Just ordered nvidia shield pro. Have QN43Q60RAFXZA for my TV and HW-Q90R as my sound system... Shut Down is in Settings > Device Preferences > About > Power Off. As well there are additional settings as well.

Sorry, its not my motherlanguage, I did not get this: 14:34 So it is possible to attach an external USB-Drive and access it from a PC over network. Ok! But does this "X-plore" need to be opened manually before you transfer files, or is there a method to to have the Shield always in network with the possibility to transfer data onto it, everytime, without opening an app (X-plore) before (like a regular server or NAS)? I would like to attach my USB-HDD onto the Shield, but without the need for some NAS, or to attach the HDD to a PC everytime I want to update movies on that HDD.

Is there anyway I can take my already put together Cody and put it on my Smart TV done the way it is off of my Nvidia shield?
