The new 3's dance through the slalom. Amazing

No one dares to compare the Mazda to other high-end sedans due to the price disparity of 2 to 3 times.. Oh my gosh Mazda's handling is insanely sharp. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I think you went a bit too slow in the mazda 3, the test will be fairer if the runs were timed

why don't they take the latest G20 330i with M Sport and compare

Talk about better traction than any other car, the 3 has any other small compact sports car beat by far. Glad to have owned one back in the day

so they decide to compare a f30 chassis from 2012 which was designed in 2009 (10 years old) that has an additional battery and electric system which makes the car way heavier against the light Mazda? silly somewhat misleading marketing no? A class is old as hell as well pre facelift....

Lol. Are all the cars going through the slalom at roughly the same speeds? Higher powered cars probably mean you're entering the slalom at a higher speed, hence harder control.

The TC is definitely working behind aka brake precisely for driver. Would like to see turn all the way off, test it and tell us if it still behave the same which I dont think it will.

Who else is here after Bobby tested the X50 in Sepang to compare the handling differences?

Some US publications that have reviewed the car are saying that the suspension after changing to torsion beam is worse handling than the previous gen despite what Mazda claim. And also goes through potholes quite a lot worse. And they compare this with corolla hatch and said corolla hatch with double wishbone setup is much better. What do you think about that?

A rear torsion beam compromises grip, but it does so to the rear, which can be a fun thing when the rear "dials it in" for the front. I won't be surprised that the new corolla can outhandle the 3 in terms of absolute Gs but what I rather have is feel and fun rather than outright performance. Also, the NVH is reduced because torsion beam only has 2 bushings/mounting points compared to 12-14 for multi-link.

does the BMW G20 perform better or worst than the new mazda3?

I don't see any significant differences. I wonder if you go faster. Handling isn't just about steering responses nowadays, it has to include all the aids for the overall handling. Unless you switch off all the ESP (sport or race mode)

Because them new Mazdas outhandled the F30s here. But i have say, these slaloms are unusually tight compared to the ones we usually do.

Bobby, have you check that all cars use the same tyres? The way the tyres lose traction at same angle feels like Mazda cheated n fit less grippy tyres on the other cars.

Yup, totally agree..... they did not mention what tire were used in the testing here, with the tires makes such a huge impact on the handling......

Hey bobby how fast are going in these tests?

The BMW went into those tight corners way to quickly due to its overwhelming power and like what Bobby said, the cones were placed way to close to each other. Had the Mazda 3 had the same power output, its traction control would also have kicked in (physics). Try putting the cones at standard spaces and I think we can watch the 330e rip the Mazda into shreds. But then again....they were comparing the all new Mazda 3 to a previous gen F30 when there's the all new G20 on sale right now in Malaysia so I smell trickery here!

Dude those are power houses of course more thrilling. I'm only able to enjoy the finer feelings of driving the Mazda 3 because its power doesnt overshadow my skill sets. So for my skill sets i get to enjoy it to its max. Different level stuffs you are bringing up bro

The Mazdas are using Yokohama Bluearth for 1.5 and Bridgestone Turanza for 2.0. These are very slow speed tests that all tyres can cope, hence it boils down to the car's setup and design. And their goal here is not to set record time, but to let us feel the fluidity and ease compared to other more expensive cars.

@@qingyaofang after 5 or 6 years of warranty for the battery 🔋, you have to pay RM40-50k for a new battery if you are the unlucky one have battery problem haha that is why everyone was throwing out 3 series electric petrol car at RM150k after 4-5 years of driving 😂

Because still a lot people don’t want to admit Mazda out perform BM haha especially driving dynamics. In fact Mazda did won a lot of awards. Interior no need to compare, bmw very plastic LoL until 2020/2021 still don’t have soft touch dashboard 😅. After few years of driving you can notice sound coming from dashboard during high speed 😂

why compare a 2019 Mazda 3 with a 2017 330e and a previous generation A250? Compare it against G20 330i and the current generation A250. Since Mazda want to boast their Mazda 3 is so good why don't they take on the M3, A45 and Type-R.

@@Yddp3307 "Higher priced German rivals" haven't excelled at driving dynamics for at least 10 years. Before, BMWs were excellent. Now, no longer. Try the steering on the current-gen 3 Series, for one.
