2019 Mazda 3 gets Corksport High Flow intake and the car comes alive. Simple install for big sound
Corksport High flow intake is one of the simplest install I have ever done on this car. Big sound and you can actually feel the new power with this combined with Magnaflow exhaust system.

I've had the corksport intake on my 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv 6speed since 2020 and been very pleased with it. Recently my exhaust has started leaking and gotten pretty bad, corksport catback should be here in a few days.
We need some performance upgrades from someone to see where these can go, I fully anticipate this engine performing as well as the euro hot hatches, considering this is Mazdas first sporty turbo since the mps cars and it’s not branded as a sport hatch technically. Keeping up with gti’ sand beating out the Impreza is a good start
It may sound cool but it's pulling in hot air from the engine compartment vs a CAI which brings in cooler air from down below. The only option for an SRI is to install a heat shield which will keep some of the engine heat from reaching the filter. You want to bring in cooler air, not hot.

The airbox looks like that because it is a tuned "helmholtz resonator". Look that term up. The filter hanging off the throttle body may make it sound cool but likely will create holes in an otherwise nice wide torque curve because the flow characteristics being off.

@godzla69

Ummmm, no not necessarily. Unless you tuned the engine CPU, the car will adjust for the optimal engine economy and performance based on the algorithms programmed. The MFA helps with this process. Especially when compensating for altitudes and other instances where air density may be effected, ie... Hot vs cold air (cold air being more dense). Experiment ; take a straw, try and take a deep breath through it, now try it again while slight pinching the straw. Which one was easier to breath through? No Brainer right? Your brain nows how much oxygen you need, but your body will worker harder trying to draw in that air through a restrictive opening, which means increased heart rate, I turn upping your metabolic rate (Mpg in your cars case). But if you easily draw air in, but it's heated vs being cold, that effects density therefore with out a heat shield any gains you may have achieved are negligible.
@anotheruniqueusername
2 жыл бұрын
@@godzla69 the whole point of an aftermarket intake is to increase airflow. if you're flowing more air the MAF will account for that and adjust fuel trims accordingly. more air = more fuel = worse economy. it's no surprise *whatsoever* that an aftermarket intake reduced fuel economy, especially in an economy car. i'm not reading the rest of whatever you commented because it has nothing to do with this conversation, but if you mentioned heat soak there was showings that a corksport short ram intake had negligible heat soak which immediately went away upon driving the car regardless.

Not a huge fan of sport mode with the Mazda 3. Especially with the 2.5T engine. It hangs onto gears a lot longer but by the time you're progressing through the shifts it's already up to speed. With my kia forte gt line - the sport mode was actually useful for passing because of the lackluster cvt. But with the 6 speed auto it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The acceleration is actually quicker in normal mode plus it's it doesn't wear and tear as much on the engine.

Extra length and plenum size are precisely calculated to offer best efficiency in the types of driving one would see in daily driving. The only people that might not benefit from it are those with too much money to spend on fuel and those who floor it to redline every day, thus making lower-rpm efficiency gains unnecessary.
