Lexus is more like a Mercedes' competitor; however, down the road, you know the lexus will win because it's more reliable and less expensive to maintain. This ES is a great daily car so that you can save up money for a weekend car without worry about your daily breaking down. I used to hate Lexus ES in the pass cus the design was really old, with this new upgrade, I think it's awesome. I still pick a BMW M / Audi RS for the weekend tho :D

I bought this exact car about a month ago and I am very pleased with my purchase. This car is smooth and relaxing to drive and in my opinion looks really good, especially the F Sport model. One very important point you guys fail to mention is that the normally aspirated v6 in this car runs on regular gas. Almost all comparable luxury calls run on premium gas. This is 20% cost savings on operating costs over most comparable cars and the fact that this engine will have fewer maintenance issues.

BS. No petrol head would want a FWD giant barge with that much power, that could never put down that power, but pretends to look like a sporty car. If you like the Lexus way, their reliability, their comfort, and you're a petrol head needing a big sedan, you get the GS. The styling on the ES is just a fat dude dressing up in spandex and trying to pull themselves off as an olympic swimmer. Unfortunately people do fall for that, and those people are just stupid or too snobbish to buy a Camry, which is what this is based on. They didn't want to labelled as such a normal Camry owner, but what they really wanted was nothing more special than a camry with some fake vents on it.

The GS is being replaced by ES and as I'm sure you know, there is no ESF. I test drove the RCF with my brother in law when he was in the market for a sports coupe. The engine sounded great and it was very refined but you DO notice the weight transfer in the corners and when breaking. It's decent when driven in isolation but starts to falter when compared to the M4 and C63 amg, which are much sharper and lighter AND YOU FEEL IT. My brother in law ended up going with the c63 because it's sharp but more refined than the BMW. (But not as refined as the Lexus).

I've never understood this weird obsession with "sportiness" for street cars. Even my old 22 year old Toyota can do double the highway speed limit and get me jailed if caught. Why would anyone want more than that for the street? And then there's this new trend of putting those seriously awful 19 inch or 20 inch wheels to cars that make them ride like a wheelbarrow. Lexus ES is the ultimate street car.

Ok I own one of these cars, it’s my daily driver I agree with them that its not fast BUT it’s quick. How he said it’s slow in 3rd. That gear pulls very well on the highway because it’s VERY long. 80ish mph In 3rd is a great passing gear. Because it’s FWD the 302hp feel much quicker because it doesn’t lose a lot of that power. It’s not a fast car like he said. Because it’s fwd and naturally aspirated. It gives u that initial pull a lot. When he doing highways speed. There is no torque steer. Only if ur flooring it at lower speed. After u get out of 1st. There isn’t really much tq steer. Because the drivers of these cars. Just want a semi sporty luxury. And are almost never going to floor it off the line. It’s completely built for highway driving. EXTREMELY QUITE no torque steer. there have been a lot of cars that couldn’t keep up with. Me on the highway because this thing is built for highway speeds. 3rd gear on the highway is a killer. So I’m not sure what he’s talking about. Especially under 100 and not starting from a dead stop. It’s it’s quick. 60-100 is where the car shines

Love the current designs, the grill makes it stand out. In the past lexus was a premium brand that just blended in with traffic, they did not stand out... kinda looked like muddled mercedes... now they look unique and genuinely stylish. Why not make these rear wheel or awd that's one factor that makes me want to step up to a GS. But the styling is so good! Some may argue that fwd is fine however torque steer and understeer are not acceptable... interferes massively with the driving experience. (Imho)

I just bought the 2020 ES F Sport- same color as the in the video. Overall, their review is pretty dead-on accurate. I agree that the ride is amongst the best I have experienced, the interior quality is very good, the car is silent, and the styling is edgy (unlike previous ES models). On the negative side, I agree the overall performance is lacking with adequate acceleration and good handling.. the infotainment interface is horrible. I wish the vehicle had a V6 turbo/supercharged version and I also wish the stereo was better (it’s good, but not great for the ungraded price). Also, there is no A/C button to turn off the A/C, you have to navigate through the infotainment system.

It's really weird that you don't like the fact that the car is comfortable , quiet, reliable , has good resale value and fills the sector for which it is intended. People don't buy a Lexus to go racing . They want a reliable , comfortable transportation vehicle . You should only review cars for those who are 18 yrs. to 30 yrs old that don't need to keep their drivers license and don't mind paying speeding tickets in order to hear their loud roar of the engine each time they go for a drive. Fun is Fun but sometimes it turns into a childish review.

A car has to be fun to drive that’s why I own a Mercedes my friends drive a Lexus and Toyota and Honda but you can tell why the Mercedes’ is tough to fix a lot of engineering goes into there car the Lexus and Toyota is just for people who wanto move from point A to B. I don’t want just that I wanto have fun while I drive not just the engine noise the badge and the status.

I have the previous version, 2018 and I drive over 35,000 per year. It is the most comfortable long haul driving vehicle I have ever owned. The space in the back is massive. I am 6’3” and I never have to move my seat up for rear passengers. The 3.5 liter V6 is amazing, always enough power when needed. In ECO mode I get about 31mpg. As for the quality it is one of the most reliable vehicles on the road, most of these cars for resale have 150k to 200k and still fetch 15,000 or more. I only wish my version had the Apple CarPlay. Also they are American made right here in Kentucky next to its brother the Toyota Avalon. Some people think they are very expensive but I got mine in December 2017 for $8,000 off of sticker or about 20% off list. I love mine and will drive it for at least 120,000 miles before I consider selling it.

I have this car it’s my second lexus and they went all in with the interior refinement. It feels like a much more expensive car, in respect to material choices and design, the drive is very smooth and if you click it into sport mode when you take corners it can fool you into thinking it’s rwd. Somehow the car makes very tight turn ins and the rear behaves very tidy. My only gripe is bc it’s made in America it’s the first lexus I’ve ever been in that does have some panel rattles when the music bass is bumping. My IS I had was made in Japan and the panels were so tight nothing rattled ever even after 4 years of daily driving over 20k miles per year. A lexus hallmark. Pro-tip for the touch pad…. Control it with your thumb rather than pointer finger and you’ll get much more precise action

I got used to the remote touch system in my NX with no problems. Also, confusing the SOS button for the sunroof controls is a bit of a stretch. That never happens. The menus themselves are fine but I do wish for absolute positioning with the system. I believe that the new Acura RDX system is based on the Lexus system but all the kinks are ironed out. The Acura system is what the Lexus system could be, and should be, if they just changed some things.

Thanks gents - I enjoyed the video. A couple of thoughts. You didn't really address the value proposition nor did you compare the car to its competition. Is this the best car in its price range considering its mission? You can't compare the ES against a 3 series BMW (much smaller - different mission) and a similarly equipped AWD 5 series is at least $20,000 more expensive. So what would you compare this car to and how does it stack up? I will offer one compliment to you both... as a 50 something "gear head" I roll my eyes when millennial "racer boys" review a car designed for someone my age to drive (in the freezing cold, in grid lock traffic, on the Gardiner) and dismiss it - because it wouldn't be fun on a track. Which is of course ridiculous... Now - while you did make that faux pax, you at lease extolled the virtues of the car's comfort, its plush ride, well built interior and quiet cabin. Which, if I may conclude, is the mission statement of this car. The F Sport is an appearance package. The "F" is the performance mission. Cheers
