2019 Jaguar I-Pace | CarGurus Test Drive Review

Shop for the new 2019 Jaguar I-PACE on CarGurus: cargur.us/shhrD
The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE offers Tesla shoppers a genuine alternative in the luxury EV segment. With a design that blends sport sedan with crossover, few cars look anything like the new Jaguar EV. A pair of electric motors provide all-wheel drive, and to the tune of 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of how you feel about the I-PACE’s design, one truth is inarguable: this machine is quick.
The electric motors are managed by a single-speed transmission, and power comes on immediately, thanks to the motors’ instantaneous torque delivery. Inside, shoppers can spec an I-PACE with cloth seats, two types of genuine leather, or the standard faux leather interior. When testing the (nearly $90,000) I-PACE, Cliff Atiyeh and CarGurus determined that, if you’re going to buy one, the top-tier HSE trim is the one to buy.
Jaguar does not offer Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto, but the standard infotainment system looks slick-when it works properly. Cliff continued to have trouble with Jaguar-Land Rover’s infotainment reliability in the I-PACE, and felt the car’s charging-station finder was an incomplete effort. In the end, he relied heavily on third-party apps to find places to recharge the I-PACE.
The I-PACE is very expensive, and it’s too new to have been properly crash tested. Still, we expect it to perform well in safety tests, in part due to its impressive array of advanced safety technology. For more information, read Cliff’s full review of the 2019 Jaguar I-PACE on CarGurus: cargur.us/shhr5

Got mine in January 2019. It is awesome. Unfortunate I have had a couple rear ended instances and the I-PACE performed well. There are a lot more DC fast charges today and you can take it on long trips. Averaging about 2.5 mile/Wh.

When reviewers mention the exorbitant amount of time it takes to recharge, they are forgetting that most EVs owners do not run down their battery range to zero . The Chevy Bolt recharges from a home battery Charge Point charger at a rate of 24 miles per hour of charge.

What is it with this needless, stupid jabbing away at EV range on every electric car review?! Constantly putting them down and sneering, as if 250 miles of range isn't suitable for 99.99% of use - which it absolutely is. It's really starting to piss me off.

The constant reciting of "driving in the cold" is going to affect your range, "driving up hill" is going to affect your range. Guess what. Same thing with gas vehicles. But these biased auto-media outlets NEVER say that.

Same here. Don't bother when you can do your daily commute of 200 miles plus and leave every morning with enough juice to travel again. It will do for 99% of the time for everyone. The few times per year (twice or three times) to a vacation address you need to charge on the road. So what!! I did a family trip to Rome this summer without any problems with my IPace. Total charging cost after 2.000 miles were € 160,00. We did not drive like a snail and were with 5 adults!!

Thank you for this review. I have to agree with a valid point you made: Tesla interior is TRASH. You pay all that money and they use the same manufacturer that places the same parts on a 2016 Chrysler 200 AND all of the Tesla models. Not saying that it's a bad thing, but I don't want a Chrysler part on my $100k ride. Sorry. I love this Jag!

If you can own a $70K-$90K EV, you're going to have the ChargePoint charger at your home. Overly stressing about the range while also leaving this reality out of your review, does a disservice to your viewers.

Jaguar should learn from the mistakes from this car and should reduce drag force ( just for fancy rear glass cleaning they are wasting battery power through drag). Drag must be minimum ( its better to give a deployable rear fins for downforce). Thats why this is being one the least efficient EV in the market.

Sweet now if only our government would install charging stations at every rest area in the country along the highways AND I could go back in time to get some of those god damned stupid bitcoins to get rich off of real quick, because God knows I'm too dumb and lazy to start a company and I didint inherit my wealth like the other 70 percent of totally not lazy rich people........well then yes I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I even like the word looks and fake alien noises it makes. A Honda element or Subaru Baja, now those are ugly. This is the good kind of weord. I guess compared to a traditional long swoopy jag coupe it looks garish but as an outsider who doesnt care about the brand.......this makes Jag a suddenly more interesting company. The common man only experience with Jags are as a second tier choice in a Forza or Gran Turismo game and they have looked the same my entire life much like BMW. Good job jaguar, assuming this car wont fall apart immediately after 60k miles.

Using Jaguar brand for 18+ years and this is my horrible review with the I-PACE. I've had a horrible experience with Jaguar's I-Pace. I had the vehicle for a year, and have only been able to drive it for approximately 2k miles. It has had issues with battery, software malfunction, charging system, and even when you would try to start the car it would make noises. Its a shame that Jaguar has tainted its brand with such a problematic car. If you want to be walking to places instead of driving, BUY a Jaguar I-PACE.
