My wife wanted to have her resonator deleted, so she could get her exhaust sound closer to my Elantra N's exhaust. In this video, I show what the Veloster N's exhaust sounded liked prior to the resonator being deleted and what it sounded like afterwards. Also, I show what the exhaust looks like with the resonator removed. This modification was performed at a local performance shop. It took the shop less than an hour to remove the factory resonator and weld in a replacement pipe. The total cost was right at $100 ($25 parts, $75 labor).
It's hard to capture the sound through a mic vs what it will sound in person. I will say the sound in person both before and after the resonator was deleted is deeper than how it comes through in the video.
When driving the car, the exhaust is slightly louder inside the car, but noticeably louder outside the car. We don't detect any drone while driving on the highway versus when the car had the resonator.
This was an inexpensive modification and worth the money for the sound achieved. I can easily recommend it for anyone wanting a bit louder exhaust sound with more pops and bangs, but doesn't want to replace the entire exhaust.
